    There are more than 25 million undergraduate students in China in 2006. They are indispensable resource for science popularization cause. This paper analyzes the status of science popularization by the undergraduates: on the one hand, there's serious lack of science popularization practitioners; on the other hand, the ability of the undergraduates is overlooked. Actually, they are not only the audience of science popularization, but also the disseminators with knowledge and culture. Training students to communicate science should base on innovation scheme and social practice of undergraduates with the help of students' unions and associations.

    The discussion about the spirit of science happened in the time of New Culture Movement and the period of reform and opening-up. The connotations of the spirit of science include spirit of seeking truth from facts, spirit of exploration and practice, skeptical spirit and selfless spirit during the New Culture Movement. The connotations about the spirit of science since reform and opening-up include two meanings: first, the spirit of science is the awareness and attitude that people should possess in the scientific activities, including the spirit of seeking truth from facts, the spirit of practice, the spirit of exploration and innovation, etc; secondly, the spirit of science is the cultural essence and value systems which derives from scientific activities, its basic values are the pursuit of the objective facts and the truth, advocating ration, evidence and progress, etc. The connotations of spirit of science are constantly changing and developing, and the fundamental reasons for these development and change are the progress of the times and the concept of scientific development. However, the basic connotations about the spirit of science in the pursuit of truth and seeking truth from facts do not changed.

    The science inquisition is not only the goal of science study, but also the way of it. How to carry out the inquiry-based teaching? The main procedure includes: 1.manifeststhe science inquisition in the teaching design; 2.demonstrate the science inquisition in the classroom instruction; 3.after the class in the supplementary activity deepen the science inquisition.

    This paper analyses the data of public scientific literacy survey performed in China in 2005 and processed the feedback questionnaires by scoring the respondents answers. Using SPSS to take gender into consideration, the author analyses the relation between sociodemographic variables and scientific literacy and establishes four multiple linear regression models.
