This paper discusses the use of new-year-pictures in rural science popularization, and also discusses how to enhance the use of images in rural science popularization at present. The images have powerful functions in science popularization, especially in conveying the beauty of science, and raising the public's scientific temper. Currently, China is massively building the beautiful countryside. Beautiful countryside is not only about a beautiful landscape, but also about a kind of developing beauty and humanistic beauty. Science, being as the motive force of development or the core of humanistic spirit, is the basic factor of beautiful countryside. The beauty of the countryside is inseparable from the beauty of science, and popular science images are an important medium to show the beauty of science and foster scientific life.
