Science and technology characteristic high schools play a crucial role in science education by cultivating future talents in technological innovation. This study aims to explore the policy layout and implementation paths of international science and technology characteristic high schools, using the examples of the United States, Singapore, and Japan. Through collecting relevant policies and literature and conducting in-depth analysis, the research findings indicate that these countries provide clear guidance and support for constructing science and technology characteristic high schools through educational policies. Additionally, different types of science and technology distinctive high schools, based on their characteristics, are committed to providing all students with opportunities for science and engineering learning, thereby nurturing reserve talents for scientific and technological innovation. Based on the research results, the study suggested establishing a scientific, rigorous, and efficient quality assurance mechanism when promoting the construction of science and technology characteristic high schools: at the macro level, formulate a development blueprint that supports the strategy of strengthening the country; at the meso level, build a support system for the cultivation of reserve talents for scientific and technological innovation; at the micro level, implement classification assessment and highlight characteristic education quality evaluation.
