The efficacy, TCM symptoms, cognitive function [Dementia Rating Scale (CDR), Mini - Mental State Examination (MMSE)], oxidative stress [nitrotyrosine(NT), reduced glutathione (GSH), total antioxidant capacity (T - AOC)], neurological function [neurofilament light chain polypeptide (NF - L), B - cell lymphoma - 2 (Bcl - 2), neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), brain- derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)] and medication safety were compared between the two groups.Results: The efficacy of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM symptom scores, CDR scores, and levels of NT, NF - L and nNOS in the two groups were reduced, and the reduction was more significant in the observation group (P <0.05). After treatment, the MMSE score, GSH, T - AOC, Bcl - 2 and BDNF levels of the two groups increased, and the observation group increased more significantly (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in medication safety between the two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion: Modified Shenghui Decoction is safe and effective in treating VD with kidney essence deficiency syndrome.
