In the acute stage of gout, Baihu and Guizhi decoction is prescribed, supplemented with herbs that clear heat and eliminate dampness, cool blood and detoxify, and promote joint circulation. In the remission stage of gout, the formula for tonifying qi and unblocking collaterals is prescribed, supplemented with herbs that reduce phlegm and remove blood stasis, promote yang and cool the blood, resolve nodules and open collaterals, and invigorate the spleen and kidneys. According to the severity of pain and the course of the disease, the Shaoyao Gancao decoction is flexibly combined.
