The control of w [N] in liquid steel is the important factor affecting the quality of auto sheet. In the paper, the factors affecting the w [N] in liquid steel and control measures during the smelting process with converter are discussed combining with the production process characteristics of 240 t converter of Rare Earth Steel Plate Plant of Baotou Steel. The w [N] in liquid steel supplied from converter to refing is effectively controlled below 25 × 10-6 so that the quality of liquid steel is greatly improved.
