In this paper, the influence factors of atmospheric corrosion resistance of weather resisting steel Q450NQR1 for railway vehicles are introduced. Its microstructures and inclusions are analyzed by scanning electron microscope as well as the influences of such factors as type and homogeneity of microstructure, grain size and non-metallic inclusions in steel on the corrosion resistance of weather resisting steel are discussed. The study results show that the corrosion rate of weathering steel decreases and the corrosion resistance in atmospheric environment increases by 31% when its grain size decreases from 11.2 μm to 7.5 μm.
