In this paper, the operation of tapping iron in front of 6# blast furnace of Baotou Steel in later stage of campaign is summarized. In view of such problems as the water at taphole, splashing at taphole, coal gas leakage, block of coke at taphole, short iron flow time and unstable furnace temperature caused by a lot of damages of the sixth sections of cooling stave of 6# blast furnace in later stage of campaign, the safe production is realized and the work of the taphole in front of the furnace is improved by improving the operation system in front of the furnace and taking effective preventive measures.
