The 60 kg/m new profile rail is studied starting from wheel-rail contact relationship aiming at the use of rail in China, which is more suitable for current wheel-rail contact relationship. Its practicability is proved by periodical tracking observation and comparison on railway from such aspects as the changes of appearance, abrasion, size of new profile for rail and light band of tread center as well as the problems found in tracking observation are inspected and analyzed.
