The experimental study on the hardenability of G105 and S135 grade petroleum drill pipe body steel produced by Baotou Steel is introduced in this paper. The results showed that the two steel grades were with good hardenability. With the quenching temperature of 880~900 ℃, the hardening layer depths of the minimum 50%, 90% and 95% martensite rockwell hardness numbers were 15 mm, 9 mm and 7 mm for G105 steel; the hardening layer depths of the minimum 50%, 90% and 95% martensite rockwell hardness numbers were 35 mm, 18 mm and 15 mm for S135 steel.
