In the paper, it is introduced such problems as bending deformation, stress distribution, yield point elongation and strain aging of steel coils in the processes of uncoiling and straightening are analyzed with such knowledge as elastic-plastic mechanics and metal science aiming at the cross cracks defect during uncoiling hot rolled low carbon steel coil. It is considered that the main cause for cross cracks defect is not the problem of strip shape, but the yield point elongation common for low carbon steel so that the basis for eliminating the cross cracks defect is provided.
