In this paper, it is described the development of nickel-metal hydride batteries in electric vehicles, highlighted the applications of nickel-metal hydride batteries in hybrid vehicles as well as studied and analyzed the development situations and trends of hybrid vehicles and nickel-metal hydride batteries. The domestic automobile enterprises will devote greater effort on research and development of hybrid vehicles. In the next few years, the rapidly developed hybrid vehicles will occupy certain market of electric vehicles.
