Outline
In the paper, it is mainly introduced the application of solidification terminal electromagnetic stirring technology in round billet caster at Baotou Steel. The results show that when the billet section is Φ390 mm and the steel type is medium carbon steel, the optimal F-EMS parameter is 450 A/8 Hz. The central carbon segregation index of the billet is reduced through the optimized F-EMS parameter, and the equiaxial crystal ratio of the billet is increased, by which the internal quality of continuous casting billet is improved.
