Objective To analyze the reasons for the appearance of special-shaped oil drop image in spot method, broaden the applicability of the spot method, and improve detection efficiency. Methods Ten typical samples with different combinations of facet, cabochon, polished, and frosted were tested by a gem refractometer. The study focused on abnormal oil drop images whichhas no clear boundary between light and dark areas but variations in light and dark areas, as well as the cases that the abnormal oil droplet image did not show changes in light and dark areas but only a small bright spot moving along with the oil droplet image. Results It was indicated that even when abnormal oil droplet images are observed in Spot method, reliable refractive index values of gemstones can still be rapidly obtained. Conclusion This study broadens the applicability of Spot method to obtain refractive index for faceted, fine frosted gemstone, and the determination of refractive indices beyond the range of the refractometer in three specific scenarios.

目的 分析点测法中异形油滴影像出现的原因,拓宽点测法的适用范围,提高检测效率。方法 分别用宝石折射仪对刻面型、弧面型、抛光、磨砂不同形态组合的10个典型样品进行点测,研究了异形油滴影像不出现平直的明暗分界线、但有明暗面积变化以及异形油滴影像没有明暗面积的变化,只有一小块亮斑随着油滴影像的移动而移动这两种非标准态点测法的读数方法。结果 在点测出现油滴影像非标准态时,依然可以快速读出可靠的宝玉石折射率点测值。结论 本研究技术将点测法的适用范围拓展至刻面宝石的点测法折射率测定、细磨砂面宝石的点测法折射率测定、折射率超出折射仪量程的判定3个具体场景。

目的 分析点测法中异形油滴影像出现的原因,拓宽点测法的适用范围,提高检测效率。方法 分别用宝石折射仪对刻面型、弧面型、抛光、磨砂不同形态组合的10个典型样品进行点测,研究了异形油滴影像不出现平直的明暗分界线、但有明暗面积变化以及异形油滴影像没有明暗面积的变化,只有一小块亮斑随着油滴影像的移动而移动这两种非标准态点测法的读数方法。结果 在点测出现油滴影像非标准态时,依然可以快速读出可靠的宝玉石折射率点测值。结论 本研究技术将点测法的适用范围拓展至刻面宝石的点测法折射率测定、细磨砂面宝石的点测法折射率测定、折射率超出折射仪量程的判定3个具体场景。

Objective To analyze the reasons for the appearance of special-shaped oil drop image in spot method, broaden the applicability of the spot method, and improve detection efficiency. Methods Ten typical samples with different combinations of facet, cabochon, polished, and frosted were tested by a gem refractometer. The study focused on abnormal oil drop images whichhas no clear boundary between light and dark areas but variations in light and dark areas, as well as the cases that the abnormal oil droplet image did not show changes in light and dark areas but only a small bright spot moving along with the oil droplet image. Results It was indicated that even when abnormal oil droplet images are observed in Spot method, reliable refractive index values of gemstones can still be rapidly obtained. Conclusion This study broadens the applicability of Spot method to obtain refractive index for faceted, fine frosted gemstone, and the determination of refractive indices beyond the range of the refractometer in three specific scenarios.

折射仪是宝玉石鉴定中价格低廉、结构简单, 使用方便的常规专门设备,用于直接测量具有抛光面的宝玉石的折射率值, 某些情况下还能用于测定非均质宝石的双折射率并且判断宝石的轴性和光性正负 [ 1 - 4 ] 。折射仪有两种使用读数方法——刻面法和点测法 (也分别称作近视法和远视法)。刻面法适用于刻面琢型的宝石, 测试读数时, 目镜中观察到的标尺上出现清晰的、横穿标尺的明暗分界线, 则该线所对应的标尺的读数即为所测样品的折射率值, 读数时眼睛贴近目镜才能看清楚明暗分界线,因此也被称为近视法; 而点测法适用于小刻面宝石和弧面型宝石 [ 1 , 5 ] 。在商业和研究性实验室中, 使用红外光谱等大型仪器已经可以快速鉴定出宝玉石的品种 [ 6 - 7 ] ,但遇到图库中尚未收录标准图谱的宝石以及在各种宝石鉴定技能竞赛中,使用折射仪获得宝石的折射率依然是重要的品种鉴定手段 [ 8 - 9 ] 。本文对非标准态点测法的实践应用进行研究,拓展了点测法的应用范围。
研究使用了宝石折射仪配折射油n=1.78 (经n=1.5004标准块校正)、刻面形无色合成水晶、刻面形蓝宝石、刻面形锆石、刻面形榍石、小颗粒刻面形无色托帕石、弧面形蓝宝石、合成无色水晶圆珠以及 1 粒橙黄色刻面闪锌矿,1 粒具有磨砂刻面的托帕石, 1粒磨砂玉髓圆珠 (样品均已经过红外光谱确定),具体外观、编号及相关信息见 图1表1
将宝石测试面清洁干净,在折射仪测试棱镜上滴直径为 $1\mathrm{\;{mm}}$ 左右的一小滴折射油,然后将宝石测试面轻轻放于其上, 按点测法读数方法进行读数, 此时可观察到标准态的点测法油滴影像 [ 10 - 11 ] 。标准态的点测法油滴影像如 图2 -3所示。
在上述点测法测试中出现如下三种非标准态油滴影像情形:
(1)异形油滴影像上下移动时不出现平直的明暗分界线, 但有明暗面积变化见 图4 :
(2)异形油滴影像上下移动中始终没有明暗面积的变化, 只有一小块亮斑随着油滴影像的移动而移动, 见 图5 :
(3)异形油滴影像上下移动中始终没有明暗面积的变化, 只出现全亮和全暗两种状态, 见 图6 :
非标准态油滴影像包括影像的畸形形态和影像明暗变化情况异常两个方面, 其成因如下:
(1)测试部位的洁净程度会影响油滴影像 [ 12 ] 。宝石测试面或棱镜未清洁彻底、折射油中溶解的硫析出导致宝石测试面与棱镜未能形成良好的光学接触, 油滴在宝石测试面与棱镜之间被压成不规则状, 从而使油滴影像畸形并且在影像上下移动过程中明暗面积变化异常。
(2)宝石测试面不光洁、具有细小凹凸面使宝石放在棱镜上时将折射油滴压散成厚度明显不均匀小油滴群, 形成总体畸形的油滴影像, 每部分小油滴影像在上下移动过程中不均匀的明暗变化导致明暗面积变化异常。
(3)宝石的折射率超出折射仪的测试范围时,宝石与接触液、测试棱镜之间光介质的疏密性发生反转, 宝石成为光密介质, 棱镜与接触液成为光疏介质, 此时不发生全内反射 [ 13 ] ,所以使用光的全内反射原理制成的折射仪上始终不会出现油滴影像有明暗面积, 只有全亮和全暗两种状态。
(4)在实际测试中, 油量多或少并不导致影像形态畸形, 也不引起影像明暗变化异常。这是由于造成油滴影像畸形的因素一方面是样品将折射油压成畸形的形态而使油滴影像形态畸形, 另一方面是棱镜与样品测试面之间未能通过折射油形成均匀、良好的光学接触而使影像明暗变化异常。 但油量多少可直接决定影像大小: 当油量过少时, 相应的油滴影像也很小, 很难判断各种变化的中点, 不利于读数; 当油量过多时, 相应的油滴影像过大, 甚至占据整个视域, 导致无法读数 (见 图7 ),因此在使用点测法时,可以 ${0.2}\mathrm{\;{mm}}$ 直径为参考油量 [ 14 ] ,不宜超过 $1\mathrm{\;{mm}}$ ,油量过多导致影像过大也会干扰准确读数。
尽管很多情况下在出现油滴影像异常时, 都是擦去棱镜上的折射油重新滴油再测,但只要掌握了上述非标准态下的点测读数方法, 可以直接进行读数, 节约测试时间。
(1)当异形油滴影像在上下移动过程中不出现平直的明暗分界线, 但有明暗面积变化: 读数时以明、暗面积各占油滴一半时, 油滴影像的水平中线所对应的刻度值即为所要的折射率值。实测样品8: 无色合成水晶珠子, 当明、暗面积各占油滴一半时, 油滴影像的水平中线所对应的刻度值为 1.55 , 见 图8 ; 实测样品2: 刻面蓝宝石, 当明、暗面积各占油滴一半时, 油滴影像的水平中线所对应的刻度值为 1.76 , 见 图9
(2)当异形油滴影像上下移动中始终没有明暗面积的变化, 只有一小块亮斑随着油滴影像的移动而移动: 当这块小亮斑移动到整个油滴中心的位置时, 油滴影像的水平中线所对应的刻度值即为所要的折射率值。实测样品7: 弧面形蓝宝石, 当小亮斑移动到整个油滴中心的位置时, 油滴影像的水平中线所对应的刻度值为 1.76 ,见 图 10
(3)异形油滴影像上下移动中始终没有明暗面积的变化, 只出现全亮和全暗两种状态: 说明样品的折射率超出折射仪的量程。实测样品4: 刻面榍石, 始终只出现全亮和全暗两种状态, 其折射率超出折射仪量程, 见 图11
非标准态油滴影像也可以进行点测法读数, 由此拓宽了点测法的应用范围:
(1)刻面形宝石折射率的点测法测定。以1号刻面形无色合成水晶为应用实例, 其折射率点测值为1.54, 见 图12
(2)表面未抛光的宝玉石折射率的点测法测定。分别以样品 9、10:一粒表面具有粗糙磨砂平面的无色托帕石 ( 9# ) 和 1 粒表面具有粗糙磨砂弧面的玉髓(南红玛瑙)(10#) 为应用实例, 其中托帕石的折射率点测值为 1.61 (见 图 13 ), 玉髓的折射率点测值为 1.54 (见 图 14 )。
(3)折射率超过量程的宝石迅速缩小排查范围。宝石折射仪一般能测折射率不超过 1.81 的样品 [ 15 ] ,而折射率大于 1.81的宝石常见的有锆石、榍石、闪锌矿等[ 16 ],以一粒橙黄色闪锌矿(5#)为应用实例,其折射率超出量程,在使用折射仪出现畸形油滴影像且该影像始终全暗或全亮, 见 图15
1.在点测法中畸形油滴影像主要有: 油滴影像形态畸形、仅有明暗面积变化、仅有一小块亮斑随着油滴影像移动、 始终仅有全暗和全亮两种状态这几种非标准态。
2.在点测法中畸形油滴影像是常见现象, 是由宝石或测试棱镜表面不洁净、宝石测试面不光洁导致光学接触不良、 样品折射率超过量程而产生,油量多少不导致影像形态畸形, 也不引起影像明暗变化异常。
3.点测法的非标准态读数需要抓住“居中”的概念, 当畸形油滴影像的明暗面积各占一半、移动的小亮斑移至油滴影像正中时, 油滴影像正中线所对应的数值即为相应的折射率值。
4.非标准态点测法可适用于测量各种刻面形宝石、表面磨砂宝石的折射率, 还可以判定宝石的折射率是否超出量程, 帮助快速缩小检测范围, 拓宽了点测法的应用。
