In the in-vehicle simplified Chinese display standards, 3 safety related questions need to be explored and established: (1)The minimum character’s height that drivers can read on in-vehicle screens; (2)The maximum number of characters that drivers can accept in a single information prompt; (3)The total number of characters that drivers can read when completing one non-driving task. Based on 3 types of experiments on a test bench through a 128-person within-subject design, results suggest: (1)The automobile cockpits information display should use a minimum simplified Chinese character font height no less than 16’ arc minutes; (2)A single message prompt in automobile cockpits contain no more than 12 characters; (3)The total characters for messages in a single non-driving task no more than 30 characters.
