The Intelligent and Connected Vehicle (ICV) is a key field of innovation and development of domestic and international technology industry, and has become a major strategic direction of global automobile industry development. Taking the policy management and industrial layout of Japan’s intelligent connected vehicle industry in the past 10 years as the research object, the study summarizes the functions and responsibilities of the various management departments, the layout of the industrial structure and the level of technological development of Japan’s intelligent connected vehicle industry, and makes predictions on its future development focusing on trends by comparing the development progress of different applicable fields of its smart Internet-connected vehicles and taking the current social conditions of Japan as the reference object. It also proposes suggestions for the development of China’s intelligent connected vehicle industry.
