Modified metal-organic framework (MOF), UIO-66-TFA, was synthesized via hydrothermal reaction of zirconium tetrachloride, with terephthalic acid as the ligand and trifluoroacetic acid as the modulator. The characterization results reveal that the as-prepared modified MOF exhibits highly dispersed and uniform nanostructure. With adsorption time of 50 min, initial solution pH of 8, and reaction temperature of 40 ℃, an addition of 0.5 mg/mL UIO-66-TFA can result in the adsorption capacities toward Pb2+, Zn2+ and Mn2+ reaching 693.5 mg/g, 419.9 mg/g and 367.1 mg/g, respectively in the aqueous solution. After five consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles, UIO-66-TFA can still retain more than 88% of its initial adsorption capacity for Pb2+, Zn2+ and Mn2+.
