A museum visit is a basic form of informal learning, while "fatigued visitors" or "fatigue of visitors" has always been a hotly debated topic in museum studies. As a well-known phenomenon, museum fatigue has attracted scholarly attention since the early 20th century. By systematically reviewing the literature on museum fatigue at home and abroad, this paper starts from the concept and causes, uncovers potential factors that may impact fatigue, and summarizes the methods, improvements, and limitations of the existing research in measurement and evaluation. On this basis, combined with the essential features of science and technology museums, several valid paths are provided to alleviate museum fatigue, including building healthy environments, optimizing cognitive mode, and establishing interactive dialogue. Research on museum fatigue is of positive significance for promoting the management and utilization of museum resources.
