In the information age, people can get access to all kinds of scientific knowledge via traditional and new media. The boom of social media has brought new opportunities and challenges for dissemination of science and technology. This article introduces innovative applications when social media meets popular science information dissemination, summarizes advantages of social media, analyzes the disturbing factors and offers effective countermeasures, for example, enhancing credibility, providing the cross-platform experience and strengthen the network supervision.
