Museum-school cooperation, also known as the museum-school combination, means that the grand aim of cooperation between the museum (science and technology museum) and the school is to carry out educational objective of the overall development of students, which includes the exchange or training of teachers and educators in museums with the aim being at achieving maximum resource efficiency and mutual benefit of museum, student and school. Museum-school cooperation has always been a top priority in the museum / science museum education. This paper analyzes several forms of education, especially the characteristics and advantages of museum-school cooperation education, and introduces the three stages and characteristics of museum-school cooperation through some cases since the opening of the new building of China Science and Technology Museum. These stages have facilitated museum-school cooperation from site visit to education programs, from participation in activities to customized learning, and from a goal-less experience to a themed and scheduled arrangement. This paper also introduces the “museum-school-teacher-student-course” form in CSTM and illustrates the mode of museum-school cooperation and the educational concept of CSTM. Based on the practical experience during the past nine years, the study finds that the quantity and quality of educational activities and the systematic research on museum-school cooperation are insufficient, and the enthusiasm in cooperation of schools and teachers needs to be improved. Therefore, some suggestions are put forward: developing projects to meet with the common objectives which are consistent with the common objectives of both parties, improving the ability of science educators in museums, making full use of Internet technology, and strengthening the comprehensive research of museum-school cooperation.
