The National Science Foundation of the US supports the studies and activities of science education and popularization through the Division of Education and Human Resources (HER). The expenditure of HER accounts for about 13% of the total budget of NSF. The budget of program on Informal Science Education accounts for about 1.1% of the total budget of NSF. NSF contributes to the advancement of science education and the promotion of teenagers'scientific literacy.
