In recent years, many scientists in diverse fields have participated in the creation of science popularization short videos, creating a wave of "science popularization fever" on major short video platforms. For the creation of science popularization short videos, the narrative approach is crucial. The science popularization short videos created by scientists have different characteristics from those made by others in the narrative approach. Academician Wang Pinxian is a representative figure of scientists participation in science popularization, and he is the "top stream" among Bilibili's content creators. Therefore, based on Wang Pinxian's science popularization short videos released on Bilibili, this paper conducts a case study on the narrative theme, narrative subject, audio-visual symbols and narrative strategies in structure and discourse, analyses the narrative characteristics and the reasons for the success of them, and then tries to provide references for scientists to participate in the practice of science popularization.
