The Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage promulgated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1972 defines the connotation of world cultural heritage, which includes the consideration of world heritage from a scientific perspective. A world cultural heritage contains a wealth of scientific thought, method and spirit which is worth digging and communication. On the basis of sorting out the relevant international documents, this paper gives definition to the scientific value components of world cultural heritage, tells about field researches to some selections of China’s world cultural heritage which facilitates the understanding of the current situation of local science popularization of world cultural heritage, further discusses the interaction between the varying values of world cultural heritage, and proposes an science popularization approach for deep integration of scientific value of world cultural heritage with other values.
