Science and technology museums are important science infrastructures. The evaluation is conducive to promoting the overall development of the science and technology museums. This paper establishes a comprehensive evaluation index system for science and technology museums, including 18 third-level indicators from 3 aspects of basic investment, operation performance and social impact. By using the data of national science popularization statistics and big data collected from the network, it obtained, for first time, the comprehensive evaluation ranking of the national science and technology museums. The evaluation results show that the large and super large science and technology museums perform well, and the performance of a few small science and technology museums is outstanding. The difference of development of science and technology museums in various regions of China is more obvious, and the advantages in the eastern region are obvious. The science and technology museums still need to use network technology to expand their social impact.
