The continuous development of science education research is a necessary way to improve students' scientific literacy. On this basis, understanding the current situation and development trend of empirical studies plays an important role in the development of science education. The study constructs the analysis framework in four dimensions‘objective’, ‘evidence’, ‘conclusion’ and‘practical’, and summarizes the present situation of empirical study on science education both in quantity and quality dimensions through a systematic analysis of the empirical studies on the theme of conceptual change. The results show that the traits of the empirical studies are generally unfolded in the 2 aspects: (a) the improvement of attention and stability of quality under the longitudinal dimensions; (b) the imbalance between different horizontal dimensions. The analysis of the current situation and development trend will provide effective suggestions for promoting the empirical study of science education and provide some inspiration for the future development of science education in China.
