Recently, researchers have been exploring ways to apply social-psychological model to examining how individual's cognition, affection, attitudes and behaviors influence the effect of science communication. For example, the Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP) model is used to explain the conditions under which individuals seek and process risk information. After reviewing related literature, the paper takes the issue about GM Food as an example to explore how individual psychological and social variables and their relationship influence individual's processing of information by using RISP. Finally, the paper discusses how to use the results of RISP studies to design effective science communication.
