Calls for PapersAs production intensification accelerates in all industrial sectors, a rising degree of concentration of process equipment and production materials has heightened the latent risks associated with fire and explosion incidents. Once such accidents occur, fires spread rapidly and are highly likely to cause severe consequences, posing a threat to the development of safe industrial production. The national Three-Year Action Plan for Addressing the Root Causes of Work Safety (2024–2026) explicitly proposes the full-chain governance of "single-event" initiatives for key areas and emphasizes leveraging technological empowerment to strengthen risk control and advance the development of unmanned and minimal-manning emergency equipment.
For advancing academic exchanges and sharing research findings on industrial fire and explosion prevention. and for more effectively prevent such accidents and conduct emergency rescue operations, China Safety Science Journal (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) plans to launch a special issue themed "Prevention of Industrial Fire and Explosion Accidents", which will be published as a regular issue in the third quarter of 2026. Scholars, experts, and researchers in relevant fields are cordially invited to submit their contributions. Details of the call for papers are as follows:
I. Scope of Contributions
The call for papers for this thematic session focuses on the full process of fire and explosion prevention as well as emergency response in typical industrial production processes. It aims to summarize and share cutting-edge research achievements in fire prevention, extinguishing, and explosion control across industries such as chemical engineering, mining, electric power (including nuclear power), metallurgy, and tobacco. Relevant topics include but are not limited to:
1. Fire dynamics and explosion mechanisms;
2. Monitoring and early-warning technologies related to fires and explosions;
3. Quantitative risk assessment of fires and explosions;
4. Key technologies for fire suppression and explosion inhibition;
5. Applications of artificial intelligence in industrial fire prevention and control;
6. Other topics related to industrial fire prevention, extinguishing and explosion control technologies.
II. Paper Requirements
1. Submitted papers must focus on the theories and technologies of industrial fire and explosion prevention and control, with significant academic and practical value. All submissions must report original research results that have not been published, or presented at any domestic or international journals or conferences, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors shall not submit their manuscripts to other journals before receiving the acceptance or rejection notification from this Journal.
2. Submitted papers must not involve national secrets, nor any intellectual property infringement issues.
3. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the Journal’s template, which can be downloaded from the official website (http://www.cssjj.com.cn) via the path: "Homepage" → "Author Guidelines" → "Submission Instructions".
III. Submission Method
1. All manuscripts for the special issue should be sent to the designated email address for preliminary review: 15210567787@163.com (authorized by the Journal). Authors are requested to monitor their email for notifications. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review and conform to the scope of the special issue must then be submitted through the "Author Submission" system on the Journal’s official website. When submitting, authors must select the special issue column titled "Prevention of Industrial Fire and Explosion Accidents", or note "Prevention of Industrial Fire and Explosion Accidents" in the author’s remarks section. Authors are advised to keep a copy of their submitted manuscripts, as unaccepted manuscripts will not be returned.
2. The email subject should be formatted as: "First Author’s Name - Paper Title - Special Issue on Prevention of Industrial Fire and Explosion Accidents". Submissions should include two files: a Word document containing author information (name, affiliation, and author biography) and an anonymous PDF document with all author information removed. Additionally, authors are required to attach the following Author Information Form:
