Introduction to the Special Issue

With the rapid development of synthetic biology, its unprecedented potential and broad prospects in the field of healthcare have become increasingly prominent. As an important branch of synthetic biology, therapeutic and diagnostic synthetic biology aims to achieve precise disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention through the rational design and construction of biological systems, thereby advancing human health.

 In view of this, Synthetic Biology Journal will launch a special issue on “Therapeutic and Diagnostic Synthetic Biology” to gather the latest research achievements in this field, demonstrate the infinite possibilities and far-reaching impacts of synthetic biology in the diagnosis and therapeutics, and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry to accelerate progress in this domain.

Themes of the Special Issue

Topics include, but are not limited to:

· Applications of gene editing technologies in diagnosis and therapy;

· Biosensing technologies and disease diagnosis;

· Cell therapy and regenerative medicine;

· New principles, technologies, and strategies in therapeutic and diagnostic synthetic biology;

· Ethics, regulations, and safety of therapeutic and diagnostic synthetic biology.

Manuscript Requirements

Articles must include Chinese and English abstracts, an English abstract figure, as well as Chinese and English figure captions and table titles.

· Invited Reviews should be systematic, forward-looking, and leading;

· Research Articles should present complete and innovative findings (comparable to journals with IF ≥5);

· Commentaries should focus on major innovative achievements in the past year, providing reviews and perspectives.
