On May 14, the 2026 Exchange and Deployment Activity for Strengthening Organization Construction of University Associations for Science and Technology was held by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Some members of the CAST University Association Liaison Group, leading officials in charge of provincial-level associations for science and technology nationwide, heads of relevant departments and entities, and representatives of science and technology associations at representative universities including those in the “Double World-Class Project” participated online and offline. Representatives of provincial and university science and technology associations exchanged experience and practices. The Office of the CAST University Association Liaison Group deployed the work of strengthening organization construction at universities in 2026. Feng Shenhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President and Secretary of the Secretariat of CAST, attended and addressed the activity.

In-depth efforts shall be made to implement the important discourses and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening, talent work, mass organization work and science and technology association work. In 2026, greater efforts shall be made to develop science and technology associations at science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and comprehensive universities, and efforts shall be accelerated to achieve full coverage of science and technology association organizations at universities. In accordance with the general guideline of empowering organizations and serving talents, efforts shall be driven by such programs as the Science Masters Theater Project, the Doctoral Student Special Program of the Young Sci-Tech Talent Cultivation Project, the Youth Science and Technology Association Support Program, the University Student Science and Technology Internship Program, and the Middle School Student Talent Program, to channel resources into universities and vigorously cultivate young reserve talents for scientific and technological innovation. Self-development of university science and technology associations shall be strengthened, and a working pattern of Party Committee leadership, overall coordination by science and technology associations, inter-departmental collaboration and wide participation shall be established. The capacity of the working team of university science and technology associations shall be greatly improved, and the overall guidance efficiency of CAST and provincial-level science and technology associations shall be enhanced.
