To investigate the characteristics of aerial roots in maize inbred lines with different genetic backgrounds and their relationship with lodging resistance, 56 maize inbred lines were used as experimental materials. Eight aerial root traits were comprehensively analyzed using correlation analysis, path analysis, and cluster analysis. Stalk anti-thrust was measured using a plant stem strength tester as an evaluation index for lodging resistance, and the relationship between aerial root traits and lodging resistance was analyzed. The results showed that the coefficients of variation (CV) for all aerial root traits were relatively large, with the CV of the aerial root angle being the largest (31.70%) and that of the aerial root emergence time being the smallest (10.77%). Among the aerial root traits, all except emergence time and puncture resistance exhibited significant correlations with one another. Specifically, the number of aerial roots and the aerial root anchoring radius were highly significantly and positively correlated with stalk anti-thrust, with correlation coefficients of 0.560 and 0.522, respectively. Additionally, aerial root puncture resistance and the number of aerial root tiers also showed significant positive correlations with stalk anti-thrust. Path analysis indicated that both the direct and indirect effects of the number of aerial roots and the aerial root anchoring radius on the lodging resistance evaluation indicators were relatively large. Therefore, strengthening the selection and improvement of these two traits in lodging resistance breeding would help enhance the lodging resistance of maize varieties. Cluster analysis classified the tested inbred lines into four groups. Inbred lines in Group II, such as Xun M6968 and LH190, were characterized by high mean values for both stalk anti-thrust and aerial root traits, providing a germplasm foundation for the breeding of new lodging-resistant varieties.

为了解不同遗传背景玉米自交系的气生根特性及其与抗倒伏性的关系,以56份玉米自交系为试验材料,运用相关性分析、通径分析和聚类分析等方法对8个气生根性状进行综合分析。利用植物茎秆强度测定仪测定植株的茎秆抗推力大小,并以此作为自交系抗倒伏性的评价指标,分析气生根性状与抗倒伏性的关系。结果表明,各气生根性状的变异系数均较大,其中气生根角度的变异系数最大(31.70%),气生根发生时间的变异系数最小(10.77%);气生根性状之间除气生根发生时间和抗穿刺强度与其他性状无显著相关性外,其余性状均存在显著相关性;气生根条数、气生根抓地半径与茎秆抗推力呈极显著正相关,相关系数分别为0.560和0.522;气生根抗穿刺强度、气生根层数与茎秆抗推力也存在显著正相关关系;通径分析结果显示,气生根条数和气生根抓地半径对抗倒伏性评价指标的直接作用和间接作用均较大,在抗倒伏育种中加强对气生根条数和气生根抓地半径的选择与改良有助于提高品种的抗倒伏能力;聚类分析将供试自交系分为4个类群,其中类群Ⅱ的浚M6968和LH190等自交系具有茎秆抗推力和气生根性状均值较大的特点,可为抗倒伏新品种选育提供种质基础。

为了解不同遗传背景玉米自交系的气生根特性及其与抗倒伏性的关系,以56份玉米自交系为试验材料,运用相关性分析、通径分析和聚类分析等方法对8个气生根性状进行综合分析。利用植物茎秆强度测定仪测定植株的茎秆抗推力大小,并以此作为自交系抗倒伏性的评价指标,分析气生根性状与抗倒伏性的关系。结果表明,各气生根性状的变异系数均较大,其中气生根角度的变异系数最大(31.70%),气生根发生时间的变异系数最小(10.77%);气生根性状之间除气生根发生时间和抗穿刺强度与其他性状无显著相关性外,其余性状均存在显著相关性;气生根条数、气生根抓地半径与茎秆抗推力呈极显著正相关,相关系数分别为0.560和0.522;气生根抗穿刺强度、气生根层数与茎秆抗推力也存在显著正相关关系;通径分析结果显示,气生根条数和气生根抓地半径对抗倒伏性评价指标的直接作用和间接作用均较大,在抗倒伏育种中加强对气生根条数和气生根抓地半径的选择与改良有助于提高品种的抗倒伏能力;聚类分析将供试自交系分为4个类群,其中类群Ⅱ的浚M6968和LH190等自交系具有茎秆抗推力和气生根性状均值较大的特点,可为抗倒伏新品种选育提供种质基础。

To investigate the characteristics of aerial roots in maize inbred lines with different genetic backgrounds and their relationship with lodging resistance, 56 maize inbred lines were used as experimental materials. Eight aerial root traits were comprehensively analyzed using correlation analysis, path analysis, and cluster analysis. Stalk anti-thrust was measured using a plant stem strength tester as an evaluation index for lodging resistance, and the relationship between aerial root traits and lodging resistance was analyzed. The results showed that the coefficients of variation (CV) for all aerial root traits were relatively large, with the CV of the aerial root angle being the largest (31.70%) and that of the aerial root emergence time being the smallest (10.77%). Among the aerial root traits, all except emergence time and puncture resistance exhibited significant correlations with one another. Specifically, the number of aerial roots and the aerial root anchoring radius were highly significantly and positively correlated with stalk anti-thrust, with correlation coefficients of 0.560 and 0.522, respectively. Additionally, aerial root puncture resistance and the number of aerial root tiers also showed significant positive correlations with stalk anti-thrust. Path analysis indicated that both the direct and indirect effects of the number of aerial roots and the aerial root anchoring radius on the lodging resistance evaluation indicators were relatively large. Therefore, strengthening the selection and improvement of these two traits in lodging resistance breeding would help enhance the lodging resistance of maize varieties. Cluster analysis classified the tested inbred lines into four groups. Inbred lines in Group II, such as Xun M6968 and LH190, were characterized by high mean values for both stalk anti-thrust and aerial root traits, providing a germplasm foundation for the breeding of new lodging-resistant varieties.

玉米是我国重要的粮食作物,其种植面积和产量均居首位,其高产稳产对保障国家粮食安全具有重要意义[1]。目前,增加种植密度是提升玉米产量的主要途径,但密度的增加往往会增大植株发生倒伏的风险。植株倒伏不仅会造成玉米产量减少和品质降低,还会给机械化收获带来困难[2-3]。近年来,由于玉米生长季暴雨以及大风等恶劣天气增多,导致倒伏现象更加严重[4],因此,提高抗倒伏能力已经成为玉米品种选育的重要目标之一。目前,关于玉米抗倒伏方面的研究[5-7]多集中在株型结构、茎秆机械强度和茎秆纤维成分等方面,根系方面因其结构复杂且易受基因型和环境影响,故相关报道较少。玉米气生根是根系的重要组成部分,对植株起着固定和支撑的作用,气生根的发育状况会对植株稳定性产生一定影响。白永新等[8]通过鉴定不同玉米品种的抗倒伏关联性状发现,气生根的生长数量显著影响抗倒伏性。于大伟等[9]研究指出,抗倒型玉米自交系的气生根角度和条数均大于易倒型。张桂萍等[10]分析基部节间形态与根系性状的协同抗倒伏性后表明,气生根条数及粗细均与抗倒伏性评价指标呈显著正相关。由此可见,气生根性状与植株抗倒伏性密切相关,但目前尚缺乏对气生根发生时间、直径、入土深度及抓地半径等形态和质量性状的系统研究。
本研究以56份不同遗传背景的玉米自交系为材料,在自然条件下无倒伏发生时,以测定植株茎秆抗推力作为评价自交系抗倒伏能力的指标,比较分析了多个气生根表型性状以及茎秆抗推力在玉米自交系间的遗传变异特征。同时,运用相关性分析、通径分析和聚类分析等方法,深入探究各气生根性状与茎秆抗推力之间的关系,筛选出与抗倒伏紧密相关的气生根指标以及抗倒能力突出的玉米自交系,以期为玉米抗倒伏种质资源的鉴定、筛选及遗传改良提供理论依据。
供试材料为56份玉米自交系(表1),包括鹤壁市农业科学院保存的49份外来自交系和课题组多年选育的7份稳定自交系,外来自交系中包含特用玉米6份。
试验于2022-2023年在鹤壁市农业科学院试验园区(35°43′ N,114°19′ E)进行,该地土壤类型为黏质潮土,pH 7.6,土壤基础理化性质为有机质含量1.71%、碱解氮115.43 mg/kg、速效磷15.54 mg/kg和速效钾138.83 mg/kg。采用随机区组试验,2行区种植,3次重复。行长4 m,行距60 cm,密度67 500株/hm2,田间管理同一般大田。抽雄后,每个材料选择生长健康且一致的5株挂牌标记,后续进行田间性状调查。
田间性状调查方法参考于大伟[11]和孔馨樱[12]的方法,略有改动。材料播种后,从小喇叭口期开始观察,记录第1层气生根的发生时间,每个材料记录5株。气生根发生初期每隔1 d记录1次,至后期第1层气生根发生基本完成时,每3 d记录1次,直至记录完成。用第1层气生根的发生日期距播种日期的天数,即为气生根发生时间(X1)。于灌浆期测量最外层入土气生根的抗穿刺强度,每份材料选取5株,每株选取3条长势一致的气生根,用YYD-1B型便携式茎皮强度测定仪(托普云农科技股份有限公司,浙江)垂直对准气生根中部进行针刺测量,记录瞬间压力值为气生根抗穿刺强度(X2)。于灌浆期至乳熟期调查供试材料的入土气生根层数(X3)和各层入土气生根条数(X4)。于灌浆期用游标卡尺测量地上最外层入土气生根中间部位的直径,每株测量3根,取平均值为气生根直径(X5)。用软尺测量气生根抓地周长,忽略个别伸出较远的气生根,计算每株的气生根抓地半径(X6):气生根抓地半径=气生根抓地周长/2π。用自制微型量角器测量最外层入土气生根和茎秆所成的夹角,每株测量3根,取平均值为气生根角度(X7)。玉米成熟收获后,用铁钎将植株连根挖出,用游标卡尺测量气生根入土部分的长度,每株测量3根,取平均值为气生根入土深度(X8)。于灌浆期使用YYD-1B型便携式茎皮强度测定仪测量茎秆抗推力(X9),测量位置为茎秆地上部第3节间的中部,将茎秆推倒至折断时读取瞬间值,每个材料测定3株,取平均值,以此作为供试材料抗倒伏性参考指标。
气生根各性状指标采用2年试验数据均值,运用Excel 2007软件进行数据录入和整理,使用SPSS软件进行描述性统计、相关性分析和通径分析,使用Origin软件进行聚类分析并作图。
56份玉米自交系的气生根性状和茎秆抗推力指标测量结果(表2)表明,自交系间的各个气生根性状变异程度均较大,说明这些自交系在气生根性状上存在较大遗传差异,具有遗传多样性强的特点。其中,气生根角度的变异系数最大,达到31.70%;其次是抓地半径和气生根条数,分别为30.21%和29.53%;气生根抗穿刺强度、入土深度和直径变异程度差距较小,分别为17.31%、16.78%和15.78%;气生根发生时间的变异程度最小(10.77%)。茎秆抗推力的变异范围为37.9~198.4 N,变异系数为28.71%,变异程度也较大,说明供试自交系在抗倒伏能力方面差异较大,存在不同的抗倒伏类型。
对玉米自交系气生根各表型性状进行相关性分析(表3),气生根抗穿刺强度和发生时间2个气生根质量性状与气生根角度、直径、抓地半径等气生根形态性状之间无明显的相关性;气生根角度与气生根抓地半径间呈显著正相关,相关系数为0.301,说明当气生根由茎秆着生处向外生长张开的角度越大,气生根抓地的面积随之增大;气生根直径与气生根角度呈显著正相关,相关系数为0.333;气生根抓地半径与气生根直径、气生根层数及气生根条数之间均呈极显著正相关,相关系数分别为0.511、0.529和0.649;气生根条数与气生根层数呈极显著正相关,相关系数为0.693;气生根条数与入土深度间也存在显著正相关关系,相关系数为0.366。由此可见,气生根形态性状之间存在一定的相互影响,在鉴定与筛选抗倒伏种质资源时,对某个气生根形态性状进行遗传选择的同时能够改良与其相关联的性状。
气生根性状和茎秆抗推力相关性分析结果(表3)表明,气生根抗穿刺强度和茎秆抗推力呈显著正相关,但相关系数较小(0.242);气生根角度、气生根发生时间与茎秆抗推力相关性不显著;气生根直径、入土深度与茎秆抗推力均有一定正相关趋势,但相关性不显著;气生根抓地半径、气生根条数均与茎秆抗推力呈极显著正相关,相关系数分别为0.502和0.491;气生根层数与茎秆抗推力呈显著正相关,相关系数为0.305。综上,气生根条数、气生根抓地半径、气生根层数和气生根抗穿刺强度是影响茎秆抗推力的重要因素,增加气生根条数和气生根层数、增大气生根抓地半径和气生根抗穿刺强度有助于提高植株的抗倒伏能力。
气生根抗穿刺强度、气生根抓地半径、气生根条数和气生根层数与茎秆抗推力有显著相关性,为进一步揭示这些性状对玉米抗倒伏性的作用大小,以茎秆抗推力为因变量(Y)、其他性状为自变量(X)进行通径分析。结果如表4所示,4个气生根性状对茎秆抗推力的直接通径系数大小依次为气生根条数>气生根抓地半径>气生根抗穿刺强度>气生根层数,说明气生根条数对茎秆抗推力的直接作用最大,抓地半径的直接作用次之,气生根抗穿刺强度和气生根层数对茎秆抗推力的直接作用较小。由间接通径系数可以看出,气生根条数通过气生根层数对茎秆抗推力的间接作用最大,间接通径系数为0.317,而抗穿刺强度对茎秆抗推力的间接作用相对最小。由此可知,气生根条数对抗倒伏性的直接和间接影响均较大,组配抗倒伏杂交种时可以着重选择气生根条数较多的种质资源。
以主要气生根性状及茎秆抗推力作为变量进行聚类分析,将56份玉米自交系划分为4个类群(图1)。其中,类群Ⅰ自交系数量最多,包含34个自交系,占比60.7%;类群Ⅱ包含4个自交系浚M6968、LH190、CLRCY022和CML359;类群Ⅲ包含浚NQ33、CML180和掖478等9个自交系;类群Ⅳ包含5个自交系HNL-150、S8324、093468、78371A和丹598。由表5可以看出,类群Ⅳ茎秆抗推力均值最小,为65.0 N,属于抗倒伏性较弱的类群,该类群的气生根条数最少、抓地半径最小。类群Ⅱ茎秆抗推力均值最大,为185.4 N,气生根条数、气生根层数、气生根抓地半径和气生根入土深度等性状表现较优异,属于抗倒伏性能较强的类群。类群Ⅲ气生根条数均值为28.7,抓地半径均值为4.5 cm,茎秆抗推力均值为144.6 N,抗倒伏性也较强。类群Ⅰ的茎秆抗推力和各气生根性状均值位于中间水平,具有中等抗倒伏性能。
合理的株型结构、强韧的茎秆以及发达的根系等性状均有助于增强玉米的支撑能力,抵御倒伏风险。在抗倒伏育种中,需聚合更多能提升植株支撑力的性状,有利性状越多,品种抗倒能力越强。在玉米育种实践中,改良品种抗倒伏性常采用降低株高和穗位的方法,但过度降低株高和穗位高会对产量产生不利影响[13]。气生根是玉米成株后根系的重要组成部分,对植株具有固着和稳定作用。因此,育种中可探索通过改良种质资源的气生根性状增强品种抗倒能力。本研究深入分析了不同类型玉米自交系气生根性状的差异与表现,结果发现各气生根性状变异系数均大于10%,表明气生根性状在种质材料中存在丰富的遗传变异。其中,气生根角度、气生根抓地半径和气生根总条数的变异幅度更大,在育种过程中,对这些遗传变异系数较高的性状进行改良,相对更易达成目标[14]
倒伏率是评价玉米抗倒伏性最直接的指标,然而其受气候条件制约。对于自交系而言,由于株高较矮,通常不易发生倒伏。因此,在自然条件下无倒伏现象发生时,有必要参考其他非破坏性性状指标来筛选抗倒伏性种质材料或评价品种抗倒伏性[15]。前人[16-19]研究表明,茎秆抗穿刺力、拉倒力、压碎强度和抗推力等反映茎秆机械强度的力学性状与倒伏率存在极显著相关性,可作为衡量玉米抗倒伏性的评价指标。本研究采用茎秆抗推力大小评价不同玉米自交系的抗倒伏性,主要考虑到测定茎秆抗推力时,其受力点接近根部,强度会受根系状态影响,因而更能体现气生根的固着能力。
前人研究普遍认为气生根条数和有效层数对玉米抗倒伏性具有重要影响,丰光等[20]针对3个主推品种的倒伏相关性状展开研究,结果显示气生根层数与品种倒伏性呈显著负相关,即气生根层数增多有助于提升品种抗倒能力,本研究结论与其相符。于大伟[11]通过列联表分析玉米入土气生根条数、气生根角度与倒伏级别的关系发现,入土气生根条数越多、气生根角度越大,玉米倒伏率越低。本研究中,气生根条数与抗倒伏性评价指标呈极显著正相关,但气生根角度与抗倒伏性评价指标无显著相关性。另有研究[21]指出,气生根的形态建成时间和抗穿刺强度与玉米抗倒伏性密切相关。本研究表明,气生根抗穿刺强度与抗倒伏性呈显著正相关,但气生根发生时间对抗倒伏性无显著影响,后续需扩大群体进一步研究。王立剑[22]以茎秆拉力作为抗倒伏指标,研究发现不同杂交组合的气生根抓地半径和气生根直径均与抗倒伏性呈显著正相关,与本研究结果部分一致,而差异可能归因于抗倒伏性评价指标的不同。
本研究通径分析结果显示,气生根条数对玉米抗倒伏性的贡献最为显著,这一结果与王永学等[23]的研究类似。此外,气生根抓地半径对抗倒伏性也具有较大的直接作用。因此在抗倒伏育种中,可重点基于气生根条数与抓地半径进行种质筛选和利用。同时,气生根性状间的相关性分析显示,气生根条数和抓地半径与其他气生根性状存在相关性,意味着通过对上述性状进行遗传选择能够同步改良其他相关联的气生根性状。茎粗对抗倒伏性也有较大影响,鉴于植株抗倒能力是茎秆与根系综合作用的结果,下一步可结合更多茎秆性状,开展多环境联合分析,筛选出有利于提升植株抗倒伏能力的综合性状指标,进而构建更为全面且准确的抗倒伏种质资源鉴定与评价体系。
优异的玉米自交系是新品种选育的种质基础,依据目标性状对自交系开展聚类分析,是筛选优良种质资源和提升育种效率的有效手段[24]。本研究采用聚类分析方法,将56份自交系划分为4个类群。从不同类群的性状表现可知,茎秆抗推力均值较大的类群,其入土气生根条数和气生根层数更多且抓地半径更大,即抗倒伏性强的类群具备更为发达的气生根。本课题组自主选育的浚M6968和浚NQ33在聚类分析结果中被归为抗倒伏性强的类群,在育种中可作为抗倒伏骨干自交系,用于组配抗倒伏性强的杂交种。不过,气生根抗倒伏特性在自交系与杂交种间的遗传表现尚需进一步研究。
56份玉米自交系在气生根性状上展现出广泛的遗传变异,气生根条数、气生根角度和气生根抓地半径的变异系数较大,在遗传改良过程中较易获得目标性状。不同气生根性状间存在一定内在关联,气生根条数与气生根抓地半径、气生根层数及气生根入土深度均呈显著正相关,在抗倒伏育种中通过对气生根条数进行选择,可同步改良其他气生根性状。以茎秆抗推力作为衡量自交系抗倒伏性的指标,对气生根性状与茎秆抗推力的相关性及通径分析发现,气生根条数、气生根抓地半径与茎秆抗推力呈极显著正相关,气生根层数、气生根抗穿刺强度与茎秆抗推力呈显著正相关,气生根条数和气生根抓地半径对茎秆抗推力的直接效应和间接效应均较大,表明气生根条数和抓地半径是影响玉米抗倒伏的重要因素,可作为抗倒伏种质资源选择的主要参考指标。聚类分析将56份自交系划分为抗倒伏性能强弱不同的4个类群,类群Ⅱ茎秆抗推力均值最大,气生根各表型性状表现最优,抗倒伏性较好,抗倒伏育种中可利用该类群材料改良根部性状,进而提升品种的抗倒能力。
