Characterized by rapid dissolution, enhanced bioavailability, precise dosing, and convenient administration, they exhibit considerable potential in improving the release and absorption of multi-component TCM formulations. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the pharmaceutic characteristics of dripping pills, processing mechanisms, and recent advances in their intelligent manufacturingand and clinical applications. Particular attention is given to the physical states, as well as to the formulation characteristics underlying their rapid-release and solubilization behaviors that enhance oral absorption efficiency. Furthermore, by integrating intelligent manufacturing technology , this article discusses the engineering challenges and developmental strategies associated with process optimization and quality control. 中药滴丸剂是基于固体分散体系的一类现代中药制剂,具有溶出迅速、生物利用度高、剂量准确、服用方便等优势,在改善中药复方成分的释放与吸收方面展现出显著潜力。系统综述了滴丸剂的药剂学特性、工艺机制及其在智能制造及临床应用中的研究进展。重点分析了药物在基质中的物理形态,探讨了滴丸剂在速释、促溶与提升口服吸收效率方面的剂型特点。同时,结合智能制造关键技术的应用,阐述了滴丸剂在工艺优化与质量控制方面的工程挑战与发展路径。旨在为中药滴丸剂的系统研究、产业化提升与临床推广提供理论支持与技术参考。

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) dripping pills represent a modern dosage form founded on solid dispersion systems. Characterized by rapid dissolution, enhanced bioavailability, precise dosing, and convenient administration, they exhibit considerable potential in improving the release and absorption of multi-component TCM formulations. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the pharmaceutic characteristics of dripping pills, processing mechanisms, and recent advances in their intelligent manufacturingand and clinical applications. Particular attention is given to the physical states, as well as to the formulation characteristics underlying their rapid-release and solubilization behaviors that enhance oral absorption efficiency. Furthermore, by integrating intelligent manufacturing technology , this article discusses the engineering challenges and developmental strategies associated with process optimization and quality control. Overall, this review aims to offer theoretical insights and technical references for the systematic investigation, industrial upgrading, and clinical translation of TCM dripping pills.
