Convolutional neural network (CNN)A specialized deep learning model designed for processing grid-structured data (e.g., images, audio, video). It achieves efficient feature learning and classification through convolutional operations, pooling operations, and hierarchical feature extraction. Inspired by the local perception mechanisms of biological visual systems, CNNs automatically extract spatially hierarchical features from data (e.g., edges → textures → shapes → semantics)Image classification; object detection; semantic segmentation; video analysis; natural language processing; medical image analysis
Recurrent neural network (RNN)A deep learning model specifically designed for sequential data processing. Its core features include recurrent structures and internal memory mechanisms. By introducing parameter sharing and state transfer across the temporal dimension, RNNs capture dynamic dependencies in sequences, making them suitable for tasks requiring contextual modeling (e.g., language, time series, speech)Natural language processing; time series prediction; speech and audio processing; cross-modal tasks
Generative adversarial network (GAN)A deep generative model based on a game-theoretic framework, comprising two neural networks: a generator (G) and a discriminator (D). Through adversarial training, GANs achieve data generation and distribution fitting, with the core concept summarized as the "game between a forger and an evaluator"Image generation and enhancement; medical image analysis; drug discovery; cross-modal generation
