代谢组学作为系统生物学的重要组成部分，其整体性的研究思路与中医药作用整体观相一致，强调了多成分、多靶点、多层次的整体调节。通过现代分析技术手段检测生物体系内代谢产物的变化，可以更准确、直接地反映生物体系的代谢和表型信息，揭示中医药治疗复杂疾病的作用机制。
随着现代分析技术的不断发展，代谢组学在中医药领域取得了不少创新性研究成果。在研究方法上，稳定同位素示踪代谢组学、质谱成像空间代谢组学等技术的应用为突破代谢表型并深入剖析关键代谢物的功能机制提供了新思路。代谢组学与多学科、多组学前沿技术的交叉应用也为中医药研究创造了新的机遇。目前代谢组学在中医药现代化的研究领域仍处于不断发展阶段，尚存在代谢物功能验证不足、疾病或药效标志物代谢物缺乏特异性等问题。因此，代谢组学在中医药研究中存在的问题仍需要进一步研究探讨，为进一步揭示中医药科学内涵和推动中医药现代化发展提供参考和指引。
参与稿件撰写单位有中国中医科学院西苑医院、天津中医药大学、成都中医药大学、山东中医药大学、南京中医药大学、中国中医科学院中药研究所、西南交通大学、山东省科学院生物研究所、山东省中医药研究院、山西医科大学、山西中医药大学以及山西大学等，内容包含了代谢组学在中药药效作用机制、中药炮制、中药质量评价、中药药效物质等方面的应用。非常感谢为本专栏供稿的各位专家，希望本专栏能够为同行提供有价值的前沿信息，充分扩展代谢组学前沿技术及其在中医药领域中的应用，推动中医药现代化发展进程。
李震宇 博士，山西大学教授，博士生导师。入选国家青年岐黄学者培养项目，山西省高等学校131工程优秀中青年拔尖创新人才，山西省高等学校青年学术带头人。主要从事中药材活性成分、质量标准以及代谢组学技术研究。近年来主持国家自然科学基金3项，国家重点研发课题1项，国家中药标准化项目子课题1项，山西省国际合作项目1项，山西省农业科技攻关项目1项。兼任中国医药生物技术协会药物分析技术分会委员、《中国实验方剂学杂志》编委，《世界中医药》杂志青年编委，山西省中医药科技创新联盟理事，山西省药学会中药与天然药物专业委员会委员。
韩利文 博士，山东第一医科大学副研究员，博士生导师。山东第一医科大学（山东省医学科学院）高层次骨干人才。主要从事基于代谢组学的复杂药物成分体系的活性成分辨识、基于斑马鱼创新模型的天然活性物质筛选与发现。先后承担国家重点研发计划（子任务）、国家自然科学基金、山东省重点研发计划等科研项目12项。获得中华中医药学会科技进步二等奖2项（2019、2016）等奖项。现为世界中医药联合会网络药理学分会常务理事，中华中医药学会实验药理学分会青年委员、中药化学分会青年委员，山东省中药协会海洋中药分会常务理事，《中草药》、《沈阳药科大学学报》青年编委。
