The crystal structure and surface properties of minerals and the mechanism of interaction between minerals and flotation agents were systematically analyzed by means of quantum chemical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation. Meanwhile, the flotation mechanism of kyanite minerals and quartz was discussed. The results show that the differences in the surface properties of kyanite, andalusite, sillimanite and quartz determine the differences in floatability, and citric acid can increase the floatability difference between kyanite minerals and quartz. The simulation result of computational chemistry is consistent with the experimental result of flotation.

采用量子化学计算、分子动力学模拟等手段,对矿物晶体结构和表面性质、矿物与浮选药剂的作用机理进行系统分析,探讨了蓝晶石族矿物与石英的浮选机理。结果表明,蓝晶石、红柱石、硅线石与石英表面性质差异性决定了其可浮性差异,柠檬酸能增加蓝晶石族矿物与石英之间的可浮性差异;计算化学模拟结果与浮选试验规律相吻合。

The crystal structure and surface properties of minerals and the mechanism of interaction between minerals and flotation agents were systematically analyzed by means of quantum chemical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation. Meanwhile, the flotation mechanism of kyanite minerals and quartz was discussed. The results show that the differences in the surface properties of kyanite, andalusite, sillimanite and quartz determine the differences in floatability, and citric acid can increase the floatability difference between kyanite minerals and quartz. The simulation result of computational chemistry is consistent with the experimental result of flotation.

计算化学是应用牛顿力学、量子力学等定律,通过计算来预测分子性质、反应及体系的物理化学性质[1]。该方法可以探索分子的构象关系并找出规律,从而为实验工作提供理论依据,已成为化学等基础学科研究及材料研发等方面不可或缺的手段。计算化学主要包括量子力学和分子动力学两个部分。随着计算机技术不断革新,量子化学计算得到迅猛发展,这使得量子化学计算在模拟矿物晶体结构方面成为可能[2],实现从微观分子层面深入研究矿物晶体结构的微观差异。
蓝晶石、红柱石和硅线石属于化学成分相同、晶体结构不同的同质异相蓝晶石族矿物,化学成分均为Al2SiO5[3-4]。石英在蓝晶石族矿物中的伴生量接近50%[5],在实际矿浆中石英与蓝晶石族矿物的可浮性相似,石英是影响细粒蓝晶石族矿物浮选产品质量的主要因素。本文基于蓝晶石族矿物与石英之间晶体结构的差异,采用密度泛函理论的广义梯度近似(GGA)方法[6]对矿物晶体进行模拟计算,采用Material Studio(MS)软件中的Materials Visualizer模块建立药剂分子模型并进行分子动力学模拟,将优化后的药剂分子置于优化后的矿物解离面上,建立药剂与矿物的吸附模型,通过计算吸附前后能量变化,判断药剂是否在矿物表面发生吸附,为蓝晶石族矿物与石英的浮选分离提供理论依据。
分别对蓝晶石、红柱石、硅线石、石英高纯度块矿进行加工提纯处理,然后筛分出45~106 μm粒级物料作为试验用单矿物。各单矿物化学成分分析结果见表1。可见单矿物纯度较高,符合试验要求。
采用长春探矿机械厂XFG型挂槽浮选机,每次称取2.0 g矿样,加40 mL去离子水,调浆1 min后,用HCl或NaOH调节pH值,搅拌2 min,再加入调整剂FeCl3·6H2O或柠檬酸搅拌2 min,最后加入捕收剂油酸钠搅拌2 min,浮选6 min。将泡沫产品和槽内产品分别烘干、称重,计算回收率。
利用MS 7.0软件中CASTEP模块[7],应用密度泛函理论的广义梯度近似(GGA)方法[8-9]对矿物晶体进行模拟计算,几何优化后分别切割出蓝晶石(100)面、红柱石(110)面、硅线石(010)面和石英(100)面,切割厚度1 nm,真空层厚度设为2 μm。建立矿物表面模型并分析原子分态密度,从分子层面研究其矿物晶体结构的差异。
采用Forcite模块对矿物晶体表面进行几何优化,得到矿物解理面表面能量Es。采用MS软件中的Materials Visualizer模块建立药剂分子结构,采用Dmol3模块进行几何优化[10],再利用Forcite模块对其进行单点能量计算,得到药剂分子总能量Ec。根据药剂溶液化学分析[11],选取药剂组分中起主要作用的油酸根离子和柠檬酸根离子为模拟计算对象,其分子结构模型如图1所示。
将优化后的药剂分子置于优化后的矿物表面上,建立初始的吸附模型,然后利用Forcite模块对初始模型进行优化得到最优吸附终态,计算得到吸附终态总能量Ea
式中Ea为矿物与药剂吸附终态总能量;Ec为药剂分子总能量;Es为矿物表面能量;ΔE为吸附能,代表吸附体系的稳定性,ΔE负值越大,吸附体系越稳定,吸附越容易发生,ΔE≥0表示吸附难以发生[12-13]
受矿石伴生金属元素及破碎、磨矿设备和水质的影响,实际矿物表面及矿浆中难免存在金属元素。矿浆pH值8左右、油酸钠用量150 mg/L时,考察了20 mg/L FeCl3·6H2O及5 mg/L柠檬酸对蓝晶石族矿物与伴生矿物石英浮选行为的影响,结果如表2所示。
表2可知,pH值8左右、油酸钠用量150 mg/L时,蓝晶石族矿物可浮性均较好且顺序为:蓝晶石>硅线石>红柱石,石英基本不浮;添加20 mg/L FeCl3· 6H2O后,石英被活化程度最大,其次是红柱石,活化后矿物可浮性顺序为:蓝晶石≈红柱石>硅线石>石英;在20 mg/L FeCl3·6H2O存在条件下再添加5 mg/L柠檬酸,对石英有强抑制作用,对蓝晶石族矿物抑制作用较小,柠檬酸增加了蓝晶石族矿物与石英的可浮性差异,可浮性差异顺序为:红柱石与石英>蓝晶石与石英>硅线石与石英。
矿物晶体内配位多面体构成如图2所示。蓝晶石属于三斜晶系岛状结构铝硅酸盐矿物,具(100)面完全解理面;红柱石为斜方晶系岛状结构铝硅酸盐矿物,具(110)面完全解理;硅线石属于斜方晶系链状结构铝硅酸盐矿物,具(010)面完全解理。3种矿物晶体结构中,有约50%的Al3+呈[AlO6]八面体形式配位,另一部分Al3+在蓝晶石中呈六配位,构成[AlO6]八面体,在红柱石中呈五配位,形成[AlO5]三方双锥多面体,在硅线石中呈四配位,构成[AlO4]四面体。Si则全部为四配位,以[SiO4]四面体形式存在[14-15]。蓝晶石族矿物之间铝与氧配位数的差异会使矿物体相中或解理表面铝相对含量产生差异。实测蓝晶石族矿物零电点分别为:蓝晶石pH=4.8,红柱石pH=3.6,硅线石pH=2.2。
石英属于典型的架状结构硅的氧化矿物,三方晶系,化学组成为SiO2。Si均由[SiO4]四面体以其四个角顶上的O2-分别与相邻的[SiO4]四面体共用而联结成三维空间无限延伸的架状结构,结构中的硅与周围的4个氧均以原子键结合,其中60%为共价键,40%为离子键,且各向键力相等[16]。当石英受外力强行作用时,会造成Si—O键大量断裂,使矿物表面暴露大量的Si4+和O2-
浮选过程中,裸露的矿物晶体表面与其内部结构存在差异,矿物内部离子、原子或分子可以相互结合,键能得到平衡,而表面层的未饱和键能决定其可浮性。分别以蓝晶石(100)解理面、红柱石(110)解理面、硅线石(010)解理面、石英(100)解理面作为矿物解理面,建立矿物表面模型,如图3所示,矿物晶体沿解理面解理时表面各原子分态密度如图45所示。
图4可以看出,蓝晶石族矿物晶体内部深部价带的态密度主要由O2s轨道组成,费米能级附近的态密度主要由O2p和Al3P轨道贡献,蓝晶石族矿物解理时,表面O原子和Al原子的态密度与晶体内部相比均发生了相应的变化。处于费米能级附近的能态组成具有较高的化学活性[17],可见蓝晶石(100)面、红柱石(110)面和硅线石(010)面O和Al的活性均相对较强,表现为Al—O键较弱、较容易断裂。3种矿物表面相似的态密度体现了矿物表面性质存在相似性,决定矿物浮选行为也具有相似性。通过对比发现,蓝晶石、红柱石、硅线石解理时各原子态密度在相应的解理面发生了差异性变化,在费米能级附近,蓝晶石表面O2p和Al3P态密度高于红柱石和硅线石,说明蓝晶石表面O和Al活性更强,矿物晶体表面性质的差异会影响矿物的可浮性。从图5可以看出,石英沿(100)面解理形成表面时,在费米能级附近O原子态密度向高能区移动,表面低能区O2s轨道变宽且裂解为明显的双峰,Si原子整体态密度都向低能区移动。说明当石英晶体形成表面时,表面Si—O键断裂,导致整个原子形态发生了变化。
药剂分子与Fe3+活化前后矿物的相互作用能计算结果见表3。由表3可知,矿浆pH值8左右,FeCl3·6H2O活化前,蓝晶石族矿物与油酸钠作用后的体系总能量变化(相互作用能)均为负值,说明油酸钠能够与蓝晶石族矿物表面发生吸附且强弱顺序为:蓝晶石>硅线石>红柱石;石英与油酸钠作用前后的体系总能量均为正值,说明油酸钠很难在石英表面吸附。FeCl3·6H2O活化后,4种矿物与油酸钠作用后体系总能量变化(相互作用能)均为负值,说明油酸钠能在蓝晶石族矿物和石英表面吸附且强弱顺序为:蓝晶石>红柱石>硅线石>石英;FeCl3·6H2O活化后,柠檬酸与蓝晶石族矿物和石英作用后体系总能量均为负值,说明柠檬酸能在FeCl3·6H2O作用后的蓝晶石族矿物和石英表面发生吸附。在油酸钠体系中,柠檬酸能增加蓝晶石族矿物与石英之间的可浮性差异,顺序为:红柱石与石英>蓝晶石与石英>硅线石与石英。浮选药剂与矿物作用的分子动力学模拟结果与矿物浮选试验结果一致。
在蓝晶石族矿物实际矿石浮选过程中,采用弱碱性油酸钠浮选体系、柠檬酸为脉石矿物石英的抑制剂,有望实现蓝晶石族矿物与石英的有效分离,柠檬酸对红柱石与石英的分离效果要优于蓝晶石与石英以及硅线石与石英。
1)矿物晶体结构及表面原子态密度分析结果表明,蓝晶石族矿物Al的配位数决定了矿物晶体结构的差异,其中蓝晶石为三斜晶系岛状结构、具(100)面完全解理,红柱石为斜方晶系岛状结构、具(110)面完全解理,硅线石为斜方晶系链状结构、具(010)面完全解理;矿物晶体沿解理面解理时表面O和Al活性均较强,表现为Al—O键较容易断裂,说明3种矿物表面性质存在相似性,在费米能级附近,蓝晶石中O2p和Al3P态密度高于红柱石和硅线石,说明蓝晶石表面O和Al活性很强,也说明蓝晶石、红柱石、硅线石表面性质存在差异。
2)浮选药剂与矿物作用的分子动力学模拟结果表明,柠檬酸能在FeCl3·6H2O作用后的蓝晶石族矿物和石英表面发生吸附;在油酸钠体系中,柠檬酸能增大蓝晶石族矿物与石英之间可浮性差异,顺序为:红柱石与石英>蓝晶石与石英>硅线石与石英。计算化学模拟结果与矿物浮选试验结果一致。
