An experimental research was conducted on efficient recovery of ilmenite from Panzhihua City by magnetic fluid coupling high-gradient magnetic separation. With MnCl2 concentration of 40%, magnetic induction intensity of 0.6 T, and pulsation frequency of 400 r/min, the ilmenite was processed by magnetic fluid coupling high-gradient magnetic separation, including one roughing and three cleaning, resulting in a titanium concentrate grading 46.89% TiO2 at 38.30% recovery. It is shown that the obtained indices are comparable to those obtained from industrial production by adopting magnetic separation combined with flotation process.

采用磁流体耦合高梯度磁选对攀枝花地区钛铁矿进行高效回收试验研究。在MnCl2浓度(质量分数)40%、磁感应强度0.6 T、脉动频率400 r/min条件下,仅通过磁流体耦合高梯度磁选(不再浮选),经一次粗选、三次精选,获得了TiO2品位46.89%、回收率38.30%的钛精矿指标,与工业生产上采用磁选-浮选联合分选获得的指标相当。

An experimental research was conducted on efficient recovery of ilmenite from Panzhihua City by magnetic fluid coupling high-gradient magnetic separation. With MnCl2 concentration of 40%, magnetic induction intensity of 0.6 T, and pulsation frequency of 400 r/min, the ilmenite was processed by magnetic fluid coupling high-gradient magnetic separation, including one roughing and three cleaning, resulting in a titanium concentrate grading 46.89% TiO2 at 38.30% recovery. It is shown that the obtained indices are comparable to those obtained from industrial production by adopting magnetic separation combined with flotation process.

钛被誉为“太空金属”和“海洋金属”,在航空航天、超导材料、船舶制造、生物医药、机械制造、化工、建筑等领域应用广泛[1]。我国钛矿资源储量居世界第一,但98%为含钙镁杂质高的钛铁矿,主要分布于四川攀西地区[2],采用高梯度磁选-浮选的联合分选流程,可获得TiO2品位47%左右、回收率35%左右(相对于选铁尾矿)的钛精矿。由于细粒矿物会影响浮选,原选铁尾矿中-20 μm粒级矿物分级后直接排入尾矿,导致钛回收率低,造成资源浪费[3]。近年来,通过科技攻关,实现了部分细粒钛铁矿的回收,钛铁矿整体回收率提升至40%左右(相对于选铁尾矿),但整体分选流程长,浮选药剂用量大,生产成本较高[4]。高梯度磁选因选择性较低,通常用于钛铁矿粗选。钛铁矿和主要脉石钛辉石都为顺磁性矿物。常规高梯度磁选中,根据矿物颗粒所受磁力的差异进行分离。虽然钛铁矿磁化率高于钛辉石[5],但细粒级钛铁矿和粗粒级钛辉石仍然会受到相等的磁力,发生竞争捕集[6],导致难以兼顾品位和回收率。因此高梯度磁选一般用于钛铁矿粗选,以获得高回收率、低品位的粗精矿。
开发基于颗粒磁化率κ(而不是磁力Fm)差异的精细分离方法,是简化和缩短分选流程的有效途径。本文提出磁流体耦合高梯度磁选法[7],使用SLon立环脉动高梯度磁选机对攀西某钛铁矿进行系统的磁流体耦合高梯度磁选试验,研究影响磁性产品TiO2品位和回收率的关键参数,探索仅使用磁流体耦合高梯度磁选(不再浮选)获得TiO2品位大于46%合格精矿的可能性,以期为攀西钛铁矿及其他难选弱磁性矿物的高效利用提供新思路。
外加磁感应强度为0.5 T时,常规高梯度磁选和磁流体耦合高梯度磁选中矿物颗粒(磁性和非磁性)受力分析如图1所示。其中H0为外磁场磁感应强度,v0v为脉动流速度。常规高梯度磁选中需要考虑重力Fg、浮力Ff、流体曳力Fd和磁力Fm[7-8]。磁流体耦合高梯度磁选中,由于磁流体的存在,在高梯度磁场区域内可以产生与磁力Fm方向始终相反的磁排斥力Fmf[9-10]。磁排斥力Fmf对磁性和非磁性颗粒都有效,起到竞争力的作用,可用来调节分选过程的选择性。
作用于颗粒(磁性或非磁性)上的磁排斥力Fmf为:
式中κm为磁流体磁化率。由于磁排斥力始终与磁力相反,作用在磁化率为κ颗粒上的净磁力Fr为:
为比较作用于有用磁性矿物颗粒和磁性脉石颗粒上的净磁力相对大小,定义比净磁力γ为:
由式(3)可知,比净磁力γ是磁流体磁化率κm的函数,与磁场力HgradH无关。可以通过调节流体磁化率κm来调节选择性,通过增大磁场力HgradH来提高回收率。因此,磁流体耦合高梯度磁选可解决常规高梯度磁选中品位和回收率难以兼顾的问题。
常规高梯度磁选中κm=0,因此γ=1,磁力相等,发生竞争捕集。引入顺磁流体后,γ≠1,其值随着流体磁化率κm变化而变化。适宜的流体磁化率κm应接近钛辉石磁化率κt,此时可以保证高比净磁力,实现高选择性。
试验样品取自攀西某选矿厂的选铁尾矿,其XRD图谱如图2所示。样品中的有用矿物为钛铁矿,脉石矿物为钛辉石、长石、绿泥石、闪石等。从该样品中回收钛铁矿的主要难点是钛铁矿和钛辉石的有效分离,因此加入MnCl2溶液来研究其对钛铁矿和钛辉石竞争捕集的影响。将该尾矿磨至-0.074 mm粒级占85%,采用弱磁选脱除大部分强磁性矿物,脱磁产物TiO2品位约6.00%,作为磁流体耦合高梯度磁选试验的给矿。采用顺磁性MnCl2溶液作为磁流体[11],25 ℃下MnCl2溶液饱和浓度(质量分数,下同)约40.63%。制备了浓度分别为20%、30%和40%的MnCl2溶液,其磁化率与浓度呈线性相关。采用磁力天平测得浓度20%、30%和40%的MnCl2溶液的磁化率κm分别为3.80×10-4、6.05×10-4和8.25×10-4
试验设备为赣州金环磁选公司研制的SLon 100周期式脉动高梯度磁选机,分选腔直径100 mm,内部可产生高达1.75 T的磁感应强度。脉动机构频率调节范围为0~400 r/min。
配制2.0 L一定浓度的MnCl2溶液,关闭磁选机底部阀门,将1.6 L配制好的MnCl2溶液倒入分选腔。在剩余的0.4 L MnCl2溶液中加入100 g矿样后混匀,接通磁选机电流并调整至产生所需的磁感应强度和脉动频率,在20 s之内将添加了矿样的MnCl2矿浆均匀倒入分选腔中,同时打开底部阀门开始分选。磁性颗粒被磁介质捕获,大部分非磁性颗粒则从底部随流体排出成为尾矿。矿浆完全排出后,分选过程结束,切断电流,将磁介质捕集的磁性颗粒冲出成为精矿。分析各产物品位并计算回收率。每个试验条件重复2次,取平均值。
磁流体耦合高梯度磁选中,磁流体磁化率是很重要的参数。攀枝花钛铁矿和钛辉石的比磁化率分别为(1.50~9.00)×10-7和(0.90~1.40)×10-7 m3/kg,体积磁化率分别为(6.00~42.30)×10-4和(3.24~5.04)×10-4。脉动频率300 r/min,磁感应强度分别为0.4、0.6和0.8 T时,MnCl2浓度对磁性产物TiO2品位及回收率的影响如图3所示。
随着MnCl2浓度增加,磁性产物TiO2品位增加,回收率降低。与常规高梯度磁选相比,MnCl2浓度越大,磁性产物TiO2品位提高幅度越大,选择性显著提高。根据上述钛铁矿、钛辉石和MnCl2溶液的体积磁化率及式(3)可知,钛铁矿和钛辉石颗粒的比净磁力随着MnCl2溶液浓度增加而增加,从而导致选择性提高和磁性产物TiO2品位提高。另外,作用在钛铁矿颗粒上的净磁力随着MnCl2浓度增加而减小,导致TiO2回收率降低[12]。MnCl2浓度40%、磁感应强度0.4和0.6 T时,仅用一次磁流体耦合高梯度磁选,TiO2品位分别提高到31.30%和30.50%,回收率分别为43.39%和66.60%,指标较好。
图4为脉动频率300 r/min时,外加磁感应强度对磁性产物TiO2品位及回收率的影响。不同MnCl2浓度下,TiO2回收率随着外加磁感应强度增加而增加。在0.2~0.6 T范围内,磁性产物TiO2品位呈下降趋势,但随着MnCl2浓度增加,下降趋势有所减缓。MnCl2浓度30%和40%,磁感应强度低于0.6 T时,TiO2品位几乎保持不变,这是由于MnCl2溶液强化分选能力随着MnCl2浓度增加而增强。然而,磁感应强度增加到0.8 T时,磁性产物TiO2品位都急剧下降,表明高场强下即使采用浓度30%和40%的MnCl2溶液,也有大量钛辉石颗粒被磁介质捕集并进入磁性产物。由上述矿物和MnCl2溶液的体积磁化率可知,MnCl2溶液浓度40%时钛铁矿的体积磁化率高于钛辉石,作用在钛辉石颗粒上的净磁力始终为负,钛辉石颗粒不太可能通过磁捕获进入磁性产物。在高梯度磁选中,非磁性颗粒的机械夹带也会导致低选择性。但在外加磁感应强度0.8 T时,钛辉石颗粒会因矿浆通道变窄发生严重的机械夹杂。因此磁流体耦合高梯度磁选也需要适宜的磁感应强度来确保高选择性和回收率。
不同MnCl2溶液浓度下,磁性产物TiO2品位及回收率曲线形状和变化规律相似,说明顺磁流体对提高分离效率有较好的效果,磁流体耦合高梯度磁选可显著提高磁选精矿TiO2品位,显示其在处理难选钛铁矿中的巨大优势和应用潜力。在试验参数范围内,常规高梯度磁选很难获得TiO2品位高于30%的钛精矿。
采用外加磁感应强度0.4 T条件下常规高梯度磁选(方案1)和外加磁感应强度0.6 T条件下MnCl2溶液浓度40%磁流体耦合高梯度磁选(方案2),研究了脉动频率对分离效果的影响,结果如图5所示。由图5可知,脉动频率100~400 r/min范围内,磁流体耦合高梯度磁选获得的磁性产物TiO2品位和回收率均高于常规高梯度磁选,且两种情况下TiO2品位和回收率差值随着脉动频率增加而增大。MnCl2溶液浓度40%时,钛辉石的竞争捕获转变为机械夹杂,提高脉动强度可有效消除机械夹杂,可见脉动流在磁流体耦合高梯度磁选中是不可或缺的。
条件试验结果表明,在MnCl2溶液浓度40%、外加磁感应强度0.6 T、脉动频率400 r/min条件下进行磁流体耦合高梯度磁选,可获得较高的TiO2品位和回收率。设计了一粗三精分选流程,并采用上述条件进行磁流体耦合高梯度磁选流程试验;作为对照,在外加磁感应强度0.4和0.6 T、脉动频率400 r/min条件下,采用相同流程进行了常规高梯度磁选试验。试验流程见图6,结果如表1所示。
通过0.6 T磁流体耦合高梯度磁选获得的精矿TiO2品位和回收率分别为46.89%和38.30%。攀西钛铁矿工业生产中,通常采用两段高梯度磁选和三段浮选,从TiO2品位10%的选铁尾矿中获得TiO2品位47%左右的精矿,回收率约40%。磁流体耦合高梯度磁选在给矿品位更低的情况下仍获得了与工业生产相当的分选指标,在钛铁矿等复杂弱磁性矿物的加工利用中表现出巨大应用潜力。0.4 T常规高梯度磁选获得了精矿TiO2品位和回收率分别为36.89%和29.82%,低于磁流体耦合高梯度磁选精矿。0.6 T常规高梯度磁选获得的TiO2回收率虽然提高到63.00%,但TiO2品位降到了30.14%。常规高梯度磁选很难获得合格精矿。磁流体耦合高梯度磁选在钛铁矿的加工利用方面表现出较好的分选效果,为处理复杂弱磁性矿物提供了新的途径。
顺磁性磁流体能有效减少钛铁矿和钛辉石颗粒之间的竞争捕获,显著提高选择性。随着MnCl2溶液浓度增加,磁性产品TiO2品位明显提高,但在高磁感应强度下,因发生严重机械夹带,选择性急剧下降。回收率相同时,磁流体耦合高梯度磁选获得的磁性产物TiO2品位远高于常规高梯度磁选。脉动流可以进一步强化磁流体对矿物的选择性。在MnCl2溶液浓度40%、磁感应强度0.6 T、脉动频率400 r/min条件下,仅使用磁流体耦合高梯度磁选(不再浮选)可获得TiO2品位46.89%、回收率38.30%的钛精矿。磁流体耦合高梯度磁选为钛铁矿等难选弱磁性矿物的加工利用提供了新路径。
