The effect of vacuum hot-pressing sintering time on phase composition, microstructure, and densification of Al-30%Sc aluminum alloy were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction. Results show that after a sintering process at 630 ℃ under 30 MPa, the prepared alloy samples exhibit good uniformity. As sintering time prolongs, the content of Al3Sc phase in the alloy decreases but the content of Al2Sc phase increases, and the density and grain size remain virtually unchanged.

利用X射线衍射、扫描电镜及背散射电子衍射等方法,研究了真空热压烧结时间对高钪铝合金Al-30%Sc合金相组成、显微组织及致密化的影响。结果表明,在630 ℃/30 MPa烧结条件下,所制备合金样品均匀性良好,随着烧结时间延长,合金中Al3Sc相含量减少,Al2Sc相含量增加,合金致密度和晶粒尺寸无明显变化。

利用X射线衍射、扫描电镜及背散射电子衍射等方法,研究了真空热压烧结时间对高钪铝合金Al-30%Sc合金相组成、显微组织及致密化的影响。结果表明,在630 ℃/30 MPa烧结条件下,所制备合金样品均匀性良好,随着烧结时间延长,合金中Al3Sc相含量减少,Al2Sc相含量增加,合金致密度和晶粒尺寸无明显变化。

The effect of vacuum hot-pressing sintering time on phase composition, microstructure, and densification of Al-30%Sc aluminum alloy were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction. Results show that after a sintering process at 630 ℃ under 30 MPa, the prepared alloy samples exhibit good uniformity. As sintering time prolongs, the content of Al3Sc phase in the alloy decreases but the content of Al2Sc phase increases, and the density and grain size remain virtually unchanged.

含Sc铝合金具有低密度、高强度、良好的成形性和抗疲劳性等特点,已应用于需要高性能结构材料的航空航天领域[1-6]。物联网、5G和卫星通信系统的兴起对材料性能提出了更高要求,也为Al-Sc合金开辟了新的应用场景。射频滤波器是现代通信系统的关键部件之一[7]。通信技术的进步对滤波器提出了更高要求[8],钪掺杂的氮化铝(AlScN)因其显著增强的压电响应系数和机电耦合系数,成为高频射频滤波器领域的研究热点,并展现出引领未来通信技术革新的巨大潜力[3-4]。AlScN薄膜的制备方法有金属有机化学气相沉积法[9]、分子束外延法[10]、磁控溅射法[11]等。其中,常用的磁控溅射法主要包括单金属靶材共溅射和Al-Sc合金靶材直接溅射。相比单金属靶材共溅射,采用Al-Sc合金靶材直接溅射能显著提高薄膜成分和性能的均匀性,同时降低制备难度,更好满足高频射频滤波器的严格要求。目前商用Al-Sc合金靶材要求组织均匀、晶粒尺寸不大于100 μm、致密度不小于98%。当前对低Sc含量Al-Sc合金靶材制备技术的研究较为成熟,但对高Sc含量Al-Sc合金靶材研究较为有限。
本文以Al-30%Sc合金为研究对象,研究真空热压烧结时间对靶材显微组织、相组成和致密度的影响,为开发高性能、高Sc含量Al-Sc合金靶材制备技术提供参考。
本研究采用高纯度Al(99.9%)与Sc(99.9%)粉末制备高钪含量(30%,原子分数)的Al-Sc合金。所选用的Al粉粒径1~3 μm,Sc粉粒径50 μm。按目标Sc含量30%精确称重后,将Al粉与Sc粉充分混匀。将混合均匀的粉末装入石墨模具,放入ZT-40-21Y真空热压机进行烧结,具体真空热压烧结参数及样品编号见表1。在Al-Sc合金烧结过程中,1~3 h是致密化关键阶段;Al的熔点为660 ℃,630 ℃能使Al维持高扩散速率,又能防止局部熔融造成成分偏析,并促进Al和Sc原子扩散;30 MPa是石墨模具可承受的安全压力。烧结后样品随炉冷却至室温。
采用固体密度仪测量烧结后样品的密度,每个样品重复测量5次,取平均值以计算致密度。使用配备Cu靶的X射线衍射仪(XRD)分析合金相组成,利用Jade 9软件标定物相并通过相峰列表模拟衍射图,计算各物相含量。采用配备能谱仪(EDS)的Tescan Mira3场发射扫描电镜(SEM)观察合金微观形貌并测量成分含量。通过配备Oxford探测器的Tescan Mira4场发射SEM进行电子背散射衍射(EBSD)分析。利用AZtecCrystal软件分析EBSD数据,获取合金晶粒组织信息。
将不同真空热压烧结制度下所得合金样品的密度与该合金理论密度3.04 g/cm3[12]对比,得到各合金样品致密度,结果如表2所示。可见,630 ℃下真空热压烧结1 h,样品密度为2.832 g/cm3,致密度为93.16%,延长烧结时间,其密度不会进一步提升,致密度也不会发生太大改变。从材料烧结动力学角度分析,在烧结初期,随着烧结时间增加,烧结驱动力较大,原子扩散和物质迁移迅速,使得材料致密化进程加快。然而,当烧结时间达到一定程度后,烧结驱动力与阻力逐渐达到平衡状态。在本实验中,630 ℃下烧结1 h左右,烧结过程已基本达到平衡,继续延长时间,原子扩散和物质迁移的速率减缓,难以显著改善致密度。
不同真空热压烧结制度下所得合金样品的XRD图谱见图1。由图1可见,3个样品的衍射峰位基本一致,主要由Al3Sc和Al2Sc两相构成,其中Al3Sc相衍射峰较明显,为主要相,Al2Sc相为次要相。
在XRD衍射图中,特征峰位表明样品的晶体结构符合面心立方(FCC)晶体结构。典型的Al FCC衍射峰分别出现在2θ=38°(111)、2θ=44°(200)、2θ=65°(220)等位置。采用相峰列表模拟衍射图法(通过调整模拟衍射图中各物相的含量,使模拟衍射图与实验衍射图尽可能吻合,此时所得到的物相含量即为样品中各物相的实际含量),计算不同样品中的物相含量,结果如图2所示。可见随着烧结时间延长,Al3Sc相含量从84.0%降低至77.4%,Al2Sc相含量则从16.0%升高至22.6%。Al3Sc相是Al-Sc合金中稳定的金属间化合物,具有Ni3Al型L12结构,空间群为,通常在较低温度和较低Sc原子分数下形成。从Al-Sc相图[13]可知,在更长烧结时间下,Al2Sc相比Al3Sc相更稳定。当烧结时间延长时,Sc原子能更有效地向Al3Sc相扩散并发生反应,从而导致Al3Sc相含量的减少,形成更多Al2Sc相。
不同烧结样品的SEM形貌及元素面分布图如图3所示。由低倍形貌可观察到,3个样品中白色颗粒状相均匀分布于深灰色基体之中;从高倍形貌中可以看到,在白色颗粒相和深灰色基体之间还存在浅灰色过渡区。元素面分布图显示,白色颗粒相Sc含量很高,几乎没有Al,即为纯Sc颗粒,而深灰色基体和浅灰色过渡区含有Al和Sc元素。
对1#和3#样品中不同衬度的高倍组织进行EDS分析,结果如图4所示。EDS结果表明,深灰色相(点1和点4处)中Al/Sc原子比接近3∶1,可判定基体为Al3Sc相[14-16]。这与XRD中Al3Sc相衍射峰一致。点3和点6处白色相EDS结果表明其为含少量Al的Sc颗粒。点2和点5处厚度为4~8 μm、浅灰色过渡区的Al/Sc原子比接近2∶1,可知其为Al2Sc相。
SEM分析可见基体中存在细微的裂纹与孔洞结构。这些缺陷的存在表明当前烧结参数不足以实现样品的充分致密化,这可能是烧结压力不足所致。Al和Sc高温下形成的Al3Sc、Al2Sc相属于金属间化合物,其熔点高,难以发生变形使裂纹或孔洞闭合来提升样品致密度,故而致密度较低。
Al3Sc是富Al相(Al原子分数占75%),其形成需要Sc原子进入Al基体以满足化学计量比。根据Al-Sc相图[13],630 ℃下Sc在Al中的固溶度极低,一旦Sc原子扩散至Al基体,会迅速与Al结合成Al3Sc相。Sc颗粒边缘至Al基体的Sc原子分数从100%逐渐降至25%,而Al原子分数反向递增,直接证明Sc向外扩散。Sc的扩散主导浅灰色过渡区形成:Sc原子从颗粒核心向外扩散,与Al结合形成Al2Sc。
不同烧结制度下合金样品的EBSD结果如图5所示。其中图5(a)~(c)是不同样品基体的晶粒形貌,图5(d)是3#样品Sc颗粒周边区域不同相组成的分布。由图5可见,不同烧结制度下样品的基体晶粒均为等轴晶形态,晶粒细小且无明显取向,统计结果如表3所示。不同样品的晶粒尺寸基本相同,平均晶粒尺寸约为2.8 μm,即在630 ℃下延长烧结时间对晶粒大小没有明显影响。由图5(d)可以看出,除了Sc、Al3Sc和Al2Sc相外,在Sc内部存在微量的AlSc2相,在Al3Sc基体中有少量AlSc相。AlSc和AlSc2相的含量较低,故在XRD分析中未能检测出明显的衍射峰。
1)高纯Al粉和Sc粉经真空热压烧结制备的Al-30%Sc合金的基体为Al3Sc相,基体中分布着Sc颗粒,在Sc颗粒和基体之间存在由Al2Sc相组成的过渡层。
2)随着烧结时间从1 h延长至3 h,合金中Al3Sc相含量从84.0%降至77.4%,Al2Sc相含量从16.0%升至22.6%。
3)真空热压烧结制备的Al-30%Sc合金基体晶粒细小,平均尺寸约2.8 μm,延长烧结时间,基体晶粒尺寸未发生显著变化。
