A seabed collector vehicle usually carries a large amount of sediments during mining seabed polymetallic nodules. For reducing the environmental impact caused by tail water discharged in the mining, two kinds of high efficiency and low diffusion desliming pretreatment devices, with twine-drum spiral structure and a direct discharge device with arresting mesh structure, respectively, have been developed, which integrates a jet-assisted transport testing equipment, and is also equipped with an online monitoring system. The desliming effect and environmental performance of the developed device was evaluated by performing computational fluid dynamics simulations and laboratory tests. It is found that the direct discharge device with arresting mesh can pretreat tails with desliming rate over 98%, and this pretreatment device can make quick separation of nodules from sediment, and also lead to subsequent quick settlement of the separated sediment, thus effectively controlling the plume caused by collector in the mining. It is concluded that this developed pretreatment device can improve the lifting efficiency in the mining and mitigate the pollution of tails in the deep-sea mining from the source.

海底采矿车在采集深海多金属结核时携带大量沉积物,为减少采矿尾水对海洋环境的影响,开发了双螺旋滚筒结构和直排拦阻网结构的两种高效、低扩散脱泥预处理装置,并集成射流输送辅助试验设备、配备在线监测系统。采用计算流体动力学仿真和实验室试验对该装置的脱泥效果和环境保护性能进行评估。结果显示,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥率超过98%,它能迅速分离泥沙,并在较短时间内使泥沙沉降,有效控制采矿车羽流,提高采矿输送效率,从源头减少采矿尾水的污染。

海底采矿车在采集深海多金属结核时携带大量沉积物,为减少采矿尾水对海洋环境的影响,开发了双螺旋滚筒结构和直排拦阻网结构的两种高效、低扩散脱泥预处理装置,并集成射流输送辅助试验设备、配备在线监测系统。采用计算流体动力学仿真和实验室试验对该装置的脱泥效果和环境保护性能进行评估。结果显示,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥率超过98%,它能迅速分离泥沙,并在较短时间内使泥沙沉降,有效控制采矿车羽流,提高采矿输送效率,从源头减少采矿尾水的污染。

A seabed collector vehicle usually carries a large amount of sediments during mining seabed polymetallic nodules. For reducing the environmental impact caused by tail water discharged in the mining, two kinds of high efficiency and low diffusion desliming pretreatment devices, with twine-drum spiral structure and a direct discharge device with arresting mesh structure, respectively, have been developed, which integrates a jet-assisted transport testing equipment, and is also equipped with an online monitoring system. The desliming effect and environmental performance of the developed device was evaluated by performing computational fluid dynamics simulations and laboratory tests. It is found that the direct discharge device with arresting mesh can pretreat tails with desliming rate over 98%, and this pretreatment device can make quick separation of nodules from sediment, and also lead to subsequent quick settlement of the separated sediment, thus effectively controlling the plume caused by collector in the mining. It is concluded that this developed pretreatment device can improve the lifting efficiency in the mining and mitigate the pollution of tails in the deep-sea mining from the source.

海洋矿产资源绝大部分位于深海地带[1-2]。多金属结核也叫锰结核,其中富含锰、铁、镍、钴、铜等多种元素,主要分布在太平洋、大西洋和印度洋的海底,具有极高的开采价值,也是全球关注度高、勘探程度较为完善的矿种[3]。然而,受技术、环境等因素限制,多金属结核采集面临诸多挑战。首先,深海无光、强腐蚀、高压等条件增加了开采技术难度[3];其次,多金属结核多与海底沉积物混合在一起,采集后会携带大量泥状沉积物[4]。为有效减少锰结核的泥沙,需在采集前对锰结核进行脱泥;锰结核脱泥过程会影响海水清洁度,甚至会对海岸生态环境产生影响[5-6]。因此,在锰结核开采过程中,亟须创新设备技术,在减少海洋开采对环境影响的基础上提高锰结核脱泥效果。
传统脱泥预处理装置在脱泥效率和环境保护方面存在一定的局限性。例如,机械搅拌和筛分方法易导致泥沙扩散,增加后续处理负担,并对海洋环境造成负面影响。本文设计了双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置和直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置,用于深海多金属结核脱泥预处理,并通过计算流体动力学仿真模拟和实验室试验对其性能进行评估。
深海多金属结核低扩散脱泥预处理装置主要由脱泥预处理装置核心组件、分流输送通道、尾部扩散排放装置、射流输送辅助试验装置、称重料仓、安装框架和在线监测浊度计等组成,如图1所示。其中对脱泥预处理装置核心组件设计了2种结构,分别为双螺旋滚筒结构和直排拦阻网结构,不同核心组件结构的脱泥预处理装置如图2所示。
双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置核心组件是一种用于分离和除去固体颗粒(如砂粒)的设备,如图3所示。该组件基于重力螺旋选料机构原理,通过旋转运动将固体颗粒从液体中分离出来。含有多金属结核的混合流进入设备后,在双螺旋滚筒作用下,会进行强烈的旋转运动。旋转运动可以产生离心力、向心力、浮力和流体曳力等效应,在旋转运动作用下,固体颗粒(如砂粒)和液体(如水)发生分离。砂粒由于密度较大,在向心力和流体曳力的共同作用下,会向设备底部移动,并通过排污口排出设备。在该组件底部增加隔离网,较小泥沙通过泥沙分流输送通道排出,处理后的多金属结核通过排料口进入料仓。
直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置核心组件是一种利用冲击水流和旋流效应的设备,如图4所示。在冲击水流的作用下,该组件会形成一个上下翻滚的旋流,使泥沙和杂质更容易与水分离,从而方便排出。
在旋流底部位置设置排泥口,排泥口方向与旋流切线方向一致。这样,旋流中泥沙和杂质会随着旋流运动被带到排泥口处。在排泥口处设置一个拦阻网,拦截进入排泥口的多金属结核。拦截下来的多金属结核被收集至料仓中。
多金属结核混合流经过脱泥处理后,含有污泥的浑浊水体通过脱泥预处理装置进入输送通道。输送通道被设计成朝下的方向,以确保浑浊水体有序流动,最后浑浊水体由尾流扩散排放管排放,如图5所示。经过处理的多金属结核无法进入输送通道中,沿拦阻网进入相应的料仓。
通过脱泥预处理装置排出的水体仍含有一定浓度的泥沙。为最大程度减小泥沙排放对环境的影响,在每个脱泥预处理装置上增设尾部扩散排放装置,如图6所示,以此降低排放速度及调整排放方向。尾部扩散排放装置包括一个扩散锥管和位于锥管尾部的下压导流板。其中扩散锥管使水流从小头向大头逐渐扩散,可有效降低排放水体的压力和速度;下压导流板可进一步消耗水流能量,促使其发生转向,并最终向下排放。尾部扩散排放装置能够使排放水体更均匀、更分散地流向周围水域,减缓了水体流速。
辅助试验装置进料斗下端采用电动泵喷射高速水流,在进料斗口形成吸力,将多金属结核输送至脱泥预处理装置核心组件,如图7所示。
为了深入分析深海多金属结核低扩散脱泥预处理装置的扩散效果,采用三维绘图软件建立了不同结构的脱泥预处理装置模型,如图8所示。
仿真试验中,初选输入管口径25 cm,总输入流量0.055 6 m3/s(200 m3/h),输送速度1.13 m/s[7]。不同流态下低扩散脱泥预处理模型仿真结果如表1所示。对比分析可知,总输入流量0.055 6 m3/s时,各类脱泥预处理模型在流体流入料仓的体积量和速度上存在显著差异。原始预处理装置的流体流入料仓体积量平均值为0.017 8 m3/s,占总输入流量的32.01%,流入料仓速度为0.38 m/s,表明该装置中流体对料仓的冲击最大;双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置的流体流入料仓速度为0.21 m/s,约为原始预处理装置的55.26%;直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置的流入料仓速度为0.13 m/s,约为原始预处理装置的34.21%,其对料仓的冲击最小。从趋势来看,脱泥预处理装置运行时,料仓排放口对料仓存在冲击力,料仓排放水流速度越小,冲击力越小,对料仓计量影响越小。
在海底采矿中,沉积物悬浮扩散与流体冲击流速相关。通常流体冲击流速增大,沉积物悬浮扩散范围和强度增大[8]。较小的流体冲击能够有效减少对沉积物颗粒的扰动,从而降低沉积物的再悬浮。从表1可知,原始预处理装置底部排泥出口体积量最小,双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置的底部排泥出口体积量约为原始预处理装置的2.49倍,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置的底部排泥出口体积量最大,达到0.040 6 m3/s,约为原始预处理装置的3.15倍,表现出大量泥沙能有效通过底部排放。此外,直排拦阻网结构预处理装置底部排泥出口速度为0.22 m/s,虽然略高于原始预处理装置,但低于双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置。虽然直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置的排泥出口体积量最大,但其相对较低的排泥出口速度有助于减少对水体的扰动,有利于沉积物的沉降和水体生态环境的保护。这表明在设计和选择海底采矿脱泥预处理装置时,需要综合考虑排泥出口体积量和排泥速度,以达到较好的环境保护效果。
为了评估多金属结核样品低扩散脱泥预处理效果,在实验室进行了脱泥预处理试验。首先对多金属结核样品进行处理,具体流程如下:先将样品在水中浸泡以达到充分吸附饱和状态,随后进行滤水操作以除去样品表面附着的自由水,并对其进行初次称重;然后,加入已知质量的泥土,使样品达到预定的泥土含量(如图9所示);接着,通过进料口将含泥多金属结核样品置入低扩散脱泥预处理装置,进行清理操作,目的是去除样品中夹杂的非固结泥质物质;脱泥处理后,将样品置于称重料仓内称重,对比前后2次称重结果,计算样品脱泥率D
式中:C为脱泥前多金属结核含泥量;C为脱泥后多金属结核含泥量。
若脱泥率超过90%,则认为该低扩散脱泥预处理装置符合技术设计要求。
双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥试验过程出现了以下情况:
1)进料射流的水流量较小,设备在水下阻力大,导致输送不理想;
2)机构内的空气导致排空后进料斗口喷出大量水,无法形成持续输送;
3)输送通道容易堵塞,处理过程不顺畅;
4)处理后多金属结核样品表面仍存在大量泥沙,未能达到预期的除泥效果。
双螺旋滚筒结构预处理装置存在进料不稳定、堵料以及脱泥效果不理想的问题,难以满足试验要求。
直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥试验结果如图10所示,脱泥率计算结果见表2。试验1含泥率从23.30%降至0.46%;试验2含泥率从17.40%降至0.24%。试验1和试验2的脱泥率分别为98.04%和98.62%,表明在这2组试验条件下,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置处理极为有效,能够显著降低物料含泥量,验证了该装置的高效性和稳定性。
在直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置上安装浊度计,以监测流体浊度变化,1号浊度计安装在装置底部排泥口,2号浊度计安装在多金属结核出料口,3号浊度计安装在泵吸入口(环境),4号浊度计安装在料仓尾部,如图1所示。

1号浊度计的浊度值最高,表明大部分泥沙能够通过直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置从底部排放。2号浊度计的浊度值次于1号浊度计,表明直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置在带泥样品进入料仓前已起到良好的脱泥效果。
从脱泥开始后的180 s内,浊度迅速升高,表明大量泥沙在该阶段被迅速分离并进入水中,使得水的浊度急剧上升。大概360 s后,浊度逐渐降低并最终趋于平衡,表明大部分泥沙在这期间迅速沉降到底部,从而导致水中悬浮颗粒减少,浊度下降并趋于稳定。
3号和4号浊度计位于料仓1 m处,浊度值变化较小,表明泥沙扩散范围较小,装置能够有效控制泥沙扩散,减少对周围环境的影响。
试验结果与仿真结果基本一致,说明直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥效果在理论和实际应用中具有较高的一致性和可预测性,进一步证明了仿真模型在指导实际脱泥过程中的有效性和可靠性。
针对深海多金属结核脱泥预处理过程,创新性地设计了双螺旋滚筒结构和直排拦阻网结构的2种深海多金属结核脱泥预处理装置。采用仿真模拟对2种脱泥预处理装置的流体动力学行为及脱泥性能进行深入分析。结果表明,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置在脱泥效率和流体冲击方面显著优于原始预处理装置和双螺旋滚筒结构脱泥预处理装置,具体表现为直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置能更加有效地分离泥沙,减小对料仓的冲击力,降低设备的能耗和磨损。实验室试验结果表明,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置脱泥率98%以上,达到了脱泥率90%的要求,进一步证明了直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置的高效性能。浊度变化趋势表明,直排拦阻网结构脱泥预处理装置能在初始阶段迅速分离泥沙,并在较短时间内使泥沙沉降,从而有效降低水中浊度。
