With coal-based carbon as a hard template and zinc acetate as zinc source, a kind of ZnO nanomaterial with excellent crystal structure and pore properties was synthesized by adopting high-temperature roasting process. Then, the sensitivity of a gas sensor based on this ZnO nanomaterial to ethanol gas was investigated. The results are shown as follows: such ZnO sensor at 200 ℃ presents higher sensitivity to lowly-concentrated ethanol gas, with a response value of 5.25; the response time and recovery time of the ZnO sensor to the ethanol gas with concentration of 1×10-5 are 10 s and 6 s respectively; the ZnO sensor has its sensitivity to ethanol gas in a linear relationship with the concentration of ethanol gas, and can detect the lowest concentration level of 1×10-7; the ZnO sensor has a lower sensitivity to those kinds of gas, including acetic acid, methanol, ammonia and methane. Due to its higher sensitivity to ethanol gas, it is concluded that such sensor presents excellent selectivity in gas detection.

以煤基炭为硬模板、醋酸锌为锌源,采用高温焙烧法制备了具有优异晶体结构和孔隙特性的ZnO纳米材料,探究了基于该ZnO材料的气体传感器对乙醇的气敏性能。结果表明:在工作温度200 ℃时,ZnO传感器对低质量分数乙醇气体具有较高灵敏度,响应值可达5.25;ZnO传感器对质量分数为1×10-5乙醇气体的响应时间和恢复时间分别为10 s和6 s;ZnO传感器灵敏度与乙醇气体质量分数呈线性关系,检测下限可达1×10-7;ZnO传感器对醋酸、甲醇、氨水、甲烷等气体的灵敏度较低,对乙醇气体灵敏度高,具有优异的气体检测选择性。

With coal-based carbon as a hard template and zinc acetate as zinc source, a kind of ZnO nanomaterial with excellent crystal structure and pore properties was synthesized by adopting high-temperature roasting process. Then, the sensitivity of a gas sensor based on this ZnO nanomaterial to ethanol gas was investigated. The results are shown as follows: such ZnO sensor at 200 ℃ presents higher sensitivity to lowly-concentrated ethanol gas, with a response value of 5.25; the response time and recovery time of the ZnO sensor to the ethanol gas with concentration of 1×10-5 are 10 s and 6 s respectively; the ZnO sensor has its sensitivity to ethanol gas in a linear relationship with the concentration of ethanol gas, and can detect the lowest concentration level of 1×10-7; the ZnO sensor has a lower sensitivity to those kinds of gas, including acetic acid, methanol, ammonia and methane. Due to its higher sensitivity to ethanol gas, it is concluded that such sensor presents excellent selectivity in gas detection.

乙醇广泛应用于国防、医疗、有机合成、食品产业及日常生活中,但由于其易燃,在工业使用过程中需严格控制[1]。乙醇易挥发,可以采用气体传感器对乙醇气体质量分数进行检测。现有检测乙醇气体的传感器存在选择性不足、检测下限高和响应时间长等缺陷,限制了其在工业现场特别是复杂气体环境下的应用。以宽禁带氧化锌(ZnO)为代表的电阻式半导体金属氧化物气敏材料凭借其卓越的气敏特性、广泛的检测范围、便捷的制备方法及低廉的成本受到广泛关注[2]
硬模板法在纳米氧化物的形态控制和尺寸精细调节方面具有独特优势,其简易的制备过程和操作便捷性使其成为制备多形态纳米材料的重要手段[3]。利用硬模板法制备的ZnO材料用作传感器检测乙醇气体时,因其高比表面积和可调控的孔洞结构,可显著提高其灵敏度和稳定性。例如岑远等[4]使用碳微球和ZIF-8作为硬模板和锌源,制备出具有高灵敏度、低工作温度、快速响应和恢复以及优良稳定性和选择性的中空微球ZnO传感器;姚成立等[5]利用SDS和油菜花粉作为硬模板,制备出多孔球形及蚕茧状ZnO,展现了巨大的比表面积和强大的吸附能力,适用于多种应用场景,如光催化降解和气体检测。
煤作为一种炭资源,其来源广泛、价格低廉,通过清洁生产技术,可以制备出高值化的煤基炭模板材料,这为制备多孔微纳材料提供了新的思路[6]。本文以活化煤基炭为硬模板,以醋酸锌为锌源,通过KOH处理以及高温焙烧,成功去除模板并获得特定形态和孔结构的ZnO,以此ZnO纳米材料制备的气敏元件对乙醇展现了出色的气敏性能。本文研究成果可为制备新型乙醇气敏材料以及提升传感器性能提供有益的借鉴。
实验所用试剂包括氢氧化钾(KOH)、盐酸(HCl)、醋酸锌((CH3COO)2Zn)、碳酸氨((NH42CO3)和无水乙醇(C2H5OH),均购于阿拉丁试剂(上海)有限公司,均为分析纯。无烟煤粒度为2~3 μm,含碳量(质量分数)不低于81.6%,购于宏泰煤炭购销有限公司。高纯空气由体积分数21%的氧气(O2)和79%的氮气(N2)组成,购于福州新航工业气体有限公司。
将2 g无烟煤与8 g氢氧化钾混合。氢氧化钾起高温活化作用,促进煤的炭化,增强煤炭材料的活性和孔隙结构。将煤与KOH混合物置于管式炉中,在100 mL/min的高纯空气保护下,以5 ℃/min的升温速度先加热至400 ℃并保温1 h,随后进一步加热至800 ℃保温1 h。所得物料在100 mL/min的高纯空气保护下随炉自然冷却后,加入60 mL浓度6 mol/L的HCl酸洗24 h,去除杂质和未反应的碱,优化煤基炭材料的表面和孔隙结构,为后续制备过程提供更纯净的煤基炭硬模板。
对煤基炭进行元素分析,主要成分为:碳97.61%、氮0.57%、氢1.71%、硫0.11%。
图1为煤基炭扫描电镜(SEM)图片。由图1可知,通过燃烧处理得到的煤基炭材料具有丰富的孔隙结构,作为硬模板可为氧化锌提供较高的孔隙度。
将1 g煤基炭与3.29 g醋酸锌在60 mL无水乙醇中溶解并搅拌1 h,通过布氏漏斗抽滤分离出炭材料,并在60 ℃下烘干9 h。将烘干后的材料置于管式炉中,在100 mL/min的高纯空气保护下,以5 ℃/min的升温速度加热至500 ℃并保温5 h。煤基炭中吸附的醋酸锌在升温过程中发生热分解,醋酸锌首先脱去结晶水,之后进一步分解成乙酸和氧化锌,乙酸在高温中挥发去除,而生成的氧化锌为纳米颗粒,附着于煤基炭的孔道和表面。煤基炭的成分为碳、氮、氢、硫等,这些元素在500 ℃高温下可成功去除,最终制备出纯净的ZnO纳米材料。
将ZnO粉末置于玛瑙研钵中,加入适量水和乙醇,充分搅拌至均匀浆糊状。将陶瓷电极管上的铂丝焊接至基座的测量接线柱。随后将加热丝贯穿陶瓷电极管中心,安置于陶瓷管的中央孔位,并将两端焊接至基座的加热接线柱。随后,采用干净的毛刷多次蘸取ZnO材料,均匀覆盖于陶瓷电极管外层,以形成一层厚度一致的气敏薄膜。涂层晾置12 h,以确保乙醇完全蒸发。为进一步增强气敏元件的稳定性与灵敏度,在300 ℃下老化处理4 h,此时传感器制备完成。
使用郑州炜盛电子科技有限公司制造的WS-30B气敏测试系统,采用静态配气法(正压配气法)评估传感器的性能。传感器灵敏度S定义为:ZnO在空气中的电阻值Ra与该材料暴露于乙醇气体中时的电阻值Rg的比值,即:S=Ra/Rg;响应时间Ts定义为:传感器在目标气体注入后,电阻值达到稳定状态(即最终电阻值的90%)所需的时间;恢复时间Tr定义为:目标气体移除后,传感器元件的电阻值恢复至初始值(原始电阻值的90%)所需的时间。灵敏度反映了传感器对特定气体的反应程度,而响应时间和恢复时间则直接反映传感器对气氛变化的检测能力。
图2为本文制备的纳米ZnO的XRD图谱。由图2可知,所有的衍射峰均与ZnO的六方晶系结构相符合(JCPDS-05-0664)。ZnO的衍射主峰位于31.769°、34.397°和36.237°,分别对应于六方晶系结构ZnO的(100)、(002)和(101)晶面。XRD图谱上没有其他杂峰,表明制备的ZnO材料具有高纯度。
纳米ZnO的SEM形貌及EDS能谱分析结果如图3所示。由图3可见,ZnO纳米材料为棒状,直径和长度分别为100~200 nm和0.5~1 μm,且结晶良好、生长均匀、长径比高。EDS能谱分析结果表明,材料中存在Zn和O,进一步证实煤基炭硬模板被烧除,得到了纯净的ZnO。
乙醇气体质量分数为1×10-5时,ZnO传感器灵敏度与工作温度之间的关系见图4。根据图4,ZnO传感器的灵敏度从150 ℃的2.78迅速增加至200 ℃时的5.25,随后随着工作温度升高,灵敏度开始下降。工作温度200 ℃以下时,乙醇气体在ZnO材料表面的吸附速度随着工作温度升高而提高,吸附速度超过解吸速度[7]。工作温度超过200 ℃后,ZnO材料表面乙醇气体的解吸速度大于吸附速度,导致灵敏度下降[8-9]。200 ℃时,吸附速度和解吸速度达到动态平衡,达到最高灵敏度[10]
在传感器性能评估中,响应时间和恢复时间是关键参数。乙醇质量分数1×10-5时,ZnO传感器的响应时间和恢复时间与工作温度之间的关系见图5。随着工作温度升高,ZnO传感器响应/恢复时间整体呈缩短趋势,这是由于工作温度升高加快了乙醇气体在ZnO材料表面的吸附-解吸速率,进而缩短了传感器在乙醇气体注入及排出后达到稳定电阻值和恢复原始状态所需的时间。
工作温度200 ℃时,ZnO传感器对低质量分数乙醇的灵敏度曲线如图6所示。由图6可见,ZnO传感器灵敏度与乙醇质量分数呈线性关系,乙醇质量分数为1×10-7、2×10-7、5×10-7、1×10-6、2×10-6时,传感器灵敏度分别为1.40、1.48、1.63、2.11、2.90。这一结果表明,即使在非常低的乙醇质量分数下,该传感器也能精确地检测乙醇气体质量分数。
表1为ZnO传感器对不同质量分数乙醇、醋酸、甲醇、氨水、黄药、二号油及甲烷气体的灵敏度。由表1可知,传感器对乙醇的灵敏度最高,达到5.25;相较其他高质量分数气体,ZnO传感器对低质量分数乙醇的检测灵敏度明显更优,突显了ZnO传感器对乙醇气体的高度选择性。
在持续及多次检测中,传感器对同一质量分数气体的重现性反映检测的准确性与稳定性。自制的ZnO传感器经过30 d存放,在200 ℃下对质量分数1×10-5乙醇气体检测的重现性如图7所示。传感器在反复暴露于相同质量分数的乙醇气体时,展现了一致的电阻变化趋势,证明了其优良的重现性。此外,传感器接触还原性乙醇气体时,观察到电阻值降低,这一现象揭示了材料作为n型半导体的特性,其中电子为主导载流子。乙醇气体排出后,ZnO传感器的电阻值能够恢复至初始状态,显示了其检测的良好可逆性,在实际应用中具有低检测偏差和高稳定性的潜力。
表2为不同ZnO传感器对乙醇气体的检测性能。由表2可知,使用硬模板法制备的ZnO传感器相较于其他类型的ZnO传感器表现出低的检测下限、更低的工作温度以及更快的响应/恢复时间。自制的ZnO传感器的检测下限为1×10-7,最佳工作温度为200 ℃,响应时间为10 s,恢复时间为6 s,这些性能指标均优于行业平均水平,表明硬模板法制备的ZnO传感器在低质量分数气体检测中具有显著优势,为精确的气体微量分析提供了可能性。
作为一种n型氧化物半导体,ZnO气敏材料对气体的响应主要取决于电子耗尽层的宽度变化。以煤基炭为硬模板制备的ZnO具有较大比表面积,为空气中氧的吸附提供了大量表面位点。ZnO暴露在空气中时,氧分子吸附在ZnO表面,并从价带捕获电子转化为O2-、O-和O2-等吸附氧离子[15]。在气敏测试的最佳工作温度200 ℃下,O-是较为稳定的氧离子。由于价带中电子被诱导到ZnO的表面区域,可在ZnO表面形成电子耗尽层。同时,ZnO属于n型半导体,其主要载流子是电子,因此基于ZnO气敏材料的传感器的电阻会升高。当ZnO暴露在乙醇气体中时,乙醇气体分子在200 ℃下很容易分解并氧化成CH3CHO和H2O:
之后,CH3CHO的中间产物会被再次氧化成CO2和H2O:
因此,基于ZnO气敏材料的传感器对C2H5OH的反应主要取决于分解为CH3CHO的速率。这种分解有利于ZnO表面更多的吸附氧参与气敏响应。经过上述响应过程,电子很容易被重新释放回到价带,导致电子耗尽层变薄,从而降低传感器电阻[16]。另一方面,基于这种组织有序、间距均匀的ZnO材料表面可提供更多的位点供氧气分子吸附,提高了气体传感器的灵敏度。同时,该ZnO材料的连通多孔通道也有利于乙醇气体分子的扩散,从而缩短了响应/恢复时间。
1)以煤基炭为硬模板、醋酸锌为锌源,采用高温焙烧法制备出具有优异晶体结构和孔隙特性的ZnO纳米材料,基于该ZnO材料制备了气体传感器。
2)ZnO传感器对低质量分数乙醇气体具有较高灵敏度,工作温度200 ℃时,对1×10-5乙醇气体的响应值为5.25;该传感器对质量分数1×10-5乙醇气体的响应时间和恢复时间分别为10 s和6 s;传感器灵敏度与乙醇气体质量分数呈线性关系,检测下限可达1×10-7
3)ZnO传感器对其他气体(醋酸、甲醇、氨水、甲烷等)灵敏度较低,对乙醇气体灵敏度高,具有优异的气体检测选择性。
