Based on the analysis of patent application trend, major applicants and technological development in recycling of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries by leaching process, a list of key patents of mainstream technologies is presented. The results show that the number of patent applications for recycling of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries by leaching process has been steadily increasing since 2015, and oxidative acid leaching is the mainstream technology at present, with other technologies keeping in pace. However, some outdated technologies are being phased out.

分析了废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收领域的专利申请趋势、主要申请人及专利技术发展情况,展示了主流技术重点专利。结果表明,废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收专利申请量自2015年以来持续增长,目前呈氧化酸性浸出为主流技术、其他技术齐头并进的发展态势,也有个别技术逐渐被产业淘汰。

Based on the analysis of patent application trend, major applicants and technological development in recycling of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries by leaching process, a list of key patents of mainstream technologies is presented. The results show that the number of patent applications for recycling of spent lithium iron phosphate batteries by leaching process has been steadily increasing since 2015, and oxidative acid leaching is the mainstream technology at present, with other technologies keeping in pace. However, some outdated technologies are being phased out.

2023年,我国以新能源汽车、锂电池、光伏产品为代表的“新三样”出口首次突破万亿元大关[1-2]。在锂电池领域,磷酸铁锂(LFP)电池以其安全性高、循环寿命长、价格低廉及材料来源广等优势,在多种锂电池中脱颖而出[3-5]。作为磷酸铁锂主要生产及消费国,2023年我国锂电池正极材料总出货量为248万t,其中磷酸铁锂材料占整体市场份额的66.53%[6],截至2024年5月,国内磷酸铁锂电池装机量市场份额超过70%[7]。磷酸铁锂电池的使用寿命一般为7~8年,经数千次循环后,其活性材料将失活报废[8]。失效的磷酸铁锂电池具有含氟电解质等多种有毒有害物质,同时含有丰富的锂、铁、磷等稀贵/有价资源,需对其进行回收利用,减少环境危害的同时实现资源的循环利用[9-10]
按工艺特点,废旧磷酸铁锂电池回收工艺可分为湿法、火法及联合回收工艺,其中湿法回收指通过溶剂浸出的方式将正极材料以离子形式浸出、分离、沉淀后生成金属盐或氧化物,具有操作温度低、回收产品纯度高、效率高等优势,是目前主要的回收方式[11]。湿法回收工艺中,锂的浸出工序是最关键的一环,直接影响后续工艺的难度和效率,最终影响有价元素的回收率和产品纯度[12]
专利作为一种重要的技术信息源,能客观反映行业的发展趋势及技术难点、热点[13-15]。本文综合运用IPC、CPC国际专利分类号和关键词,基于智慧芽专利数据库[16],于2023年12月20日对废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收相关专利进行检索,经同族合并、人工整理和数据标引后,最终筛选出涉及废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收的专利申请459件(由于专利公开时间滞后等原因,近两年数据存在收录不全的情况,本文分析仅供参考)。在此基础上,从专利申请整体情况及主流技术重点专利两个方面分析废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收技术进展,以期为该领域相关人员提供参考。
对基于前述经同族合并、人工整理和数据标引后筛选得到的459件全球专利申请按年度分布进行统计分析,废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收专利年度申请量变化趋势如图1所示。
图1可知,申请量变化趋势分为2个阶段。
第1阶段:技术萌芽期(2015年以前)。废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收技术专利最早申请于2009年,2014年之前专利年申请量均在4件以内,年申请量少且呈现个别年度年申请量为0的状态,该阶段为废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收技术探索、萌芽阶段。
第2阶段:快速发展期(2016年以后)。该阶段该领域全球专利申请量呈高速增长态势,年申请量从2016年的17件快速增长至2022年的109件,截至检索日期,2023年已公开的申请数量为100件,其中2020年到2021年增长尤其迅速,2021年该领域全球专利申请量较2020年增长95.65%。上述专利申请趋势与磷酸铁锂电池产业化发展历程、近年的大规模应用及即将到来的退役潮高度契合,同时也体现在产业快速发展以及迫切的资源循环形势下,生产、研发主体正在持续加大该领域技术研发、工艺开发及专利申请、布局力度。
专利申请人分析可以一定程度上反映该领域技术发展实力分布。图2展示了废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收专利申请量前十的申请人及专利申请量。
图2可知,该领域专利申请量前十的申请人分别为邦普循环(40件)、中国科学院过程研究所(30件)、中南大学(24件)、南都华铂新材料(13件)、天齐锂业(12件)、光华科技(10件)、国轩高科(10件)、格林美(9件)、福州大学(6件)和睿思科新材料(6件),上述申请人合计专利申请量占该领域专利申请总量的33.7%,且企业申请人占比7成,可见该领域技术研究及开发主要集中在以相关业务为主营业务或主营业务之一的企业主体中。与此同时,排名前三的申请人中高校及研究院占2个席位,可见该领域除了产业应用型研究开发,在基础/学术研究方面也有较好的技术创新及专利布局。综上可知,废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收为产业应用主导型技术,且产学研综合结合度较好。
根据元素浸出特点,废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出可分为选择性浸出和全元素浸出[17-18],前者优先浸出部分元素,后者将有价元素一次性全部浸出,其中选择性浸出具有分离过程简单、终产品纯度高的优势,成为现阶段主流浸出工艺[19]。下面对废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出回收专利技术分支及进程作进一步分析。
根据检索结果,结合浸出条件特点,废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出回收技术可进一步细分为氧化酸性浸出、碱性浸出、氧化剂浸出、电化学法、机械化学法、高温相转化法及其他选择性浸出法。表1为废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出回收技术分解及释义。
基于前述专利检索及人工标引获得的各技术分支最早的专利申请数据绘制废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出回收技术发展路线,具体如图3所示。在上述6种主流选择性浸出工艺中,电化学法最早被提出,随后氧化酸性浸出在2013年被提出,其余4种选择性浸出工艺在2016年先后被提出。结合图1可知,该领域新技术爆发点和专利申请量爆发点高度重合,在2016年出现新技术爆发点后,该领域专利申请量开始呈现爆发式增长,从技术萌芽期迅速切换至快速发展期。可见,分支技术的集中出现及持续发展是该领域专利申请量快速增长的主要原因之一。
技术成熟度及申请趋势能够体现各分支技术的发展状态。本文使用创新成熟度矩阵图(模型)评估各回收技术的成熟度,其中横坐标相对近因的计算公式为:
式中:i为调查年,调查第1年i=1,第2年i=2,以此类推;Wi为当年申请量;n为调查总年数。相对近因越大,表示该回收技术整体越新。
废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出分支技术专利创新成熟度矩阵图与申请趋势堆积图见图4。由图4可知:该领域氧化酸性浸出起步仅次于电化学法,却是近年研究最多、成熟度最高的选择性浸出技术;高温相转化法整体上次之,电化学法和氧化剂浸出在申请趋势和技术成熟度方面表现相当,整体位于第三水平。具体而言,氧化酸性浸出法在被提出后的3年内未引起关注,直到2016年进入稳定申请阶段,到2020年进入高速增长阶段,并成为现阶段主流技术。高温相转化法在2016年被提出后,立刻进入研究增长期,其专利申请量持续高速增长至今。2020年以来进入快速增长期的还有电化学法,氧化剂浸出法自2016年被提出起,也持续处于申请量稳步增加态势。碱性浸出法在2016年被提出后,于2017年出现小幅度的专利申请量增长,2018—2022年整体申请数量较少,2019年甚至无相关专利提出,申请量及相对近因也最小,可知该技术在提出后不久便逐渐被产业淘汰。综上可知,废旧磷酸铁锂电池选择性浸出回收技术在2016年爆发后,整体呈现齐头并进的良好发展态势,但也有个别技术逐渐被产业淘汰。
基于前述对废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收专利申请整体分析可知,氧化酸性浸出是目前该领域很成熟且继续重点发展的技术,其专利技术发展在一定程度反映该领域产业技术重点,因此在对该领域的专利技术发展和重点专利进行分析时,应基于申请时间、被引用次数及技术创新度等进行综合考量。
氧化酸性浸出即用酸作为浸出剂,利用氧化剂将LiFePO4晶体中的Fe2+氧化为Fe3+,使嵌入的Li选择性地从LiFePO4中释放、浸出。
2013年,为了提供一种简便有效的方法回收废旧磷酸铁锂中的有价元素,江西省电力科学研究院、国家电网公司在CN103280610B(一种磷酸铁锂电池正极废片回收方法)中提出将正极粉料溶于酸与双氧水的混合溶液,用于锂的选择性浸出,浸出时铁、磷以磷酸铁形式存在于沉淀中,而锂则以离子成分进入溶液中。
2017年,四川顺应动力电池材料有限公司在CN108110357B(一种从废旧磷酸铁锂电池正极材料中回收有价金属的方法)中提出通过焙烧使废旧磷酸铁锂电池材料中Fe、Li金属元素氧化生成Fe2O3、FePO4和Li3PO4后,再通过酸浸实现焙烧料中Li3PO4与Fe2O3、FePO4分离,可确保最终浸出液析出的磷酸锂沉淀产物的高品位。
2018年,株洲冶炼集团股份有限公司在CN109095481B(一种磷酸铁锂废粉的综合回收方法)中提出二步氧化酸性浸出,即氧化焙烧+反酸氧化浸出两步配合,实现锂的充分活化,保证了Li的高浸出率和产品磷酸铁的纯度。
在一步氧化酸性浸出体系中(如H2SO4/H2O2),随着锂浸出进程的持续,新生磷酸铁不可避免地与硫酸反应,导致含锂浸出液中铁杂质含量升高,2019年,比亚迪在CN112441572B(一种废旧磷酸铁锂正极材料的回收方法)中提出采用两步法选择性浸出锂,具体为:将废旧磷酸铁锂粉料加入包括弱碱溶液或弱酸溶液中的至少一种与第一氧化剂的混合液浸出剂A中,反应一段时间后再加入一定量的包括第二酸性溶液与第二氧化剂的混合液浸出剂B,调节pH≥2,之后固液分离,得到含锂浸出液和浸出渣,该工艺既能使反应完全又可控制杂质元素浸出。其中第一步反应中加入弱碱性溶液或弱酸性溶液主要是为了提供一种弱碱性的环境,该环境可较好地调节反应体系的酸度,不会导致体系局部酸度过大,在第一步反应中,整个反应过程比较缓慢;第二步反应加入强酸是为了给磷酸铁锂的氧化提供质子,同时控制pH值,保证锂的浸出率较高而铝、铁及其他杂质浸出较少。该专利锂浸出率可达90%~100%,铁和磷浸出率均低于0.1%,浸出液中锂质量浓度约5~8 g/L,铁质量分数低于30×10-6,磷酸根质量分数低于100×10-6
通常氧化酸性浸出体系采用的氧化剂为过氧化氢、过硫酸盐、次氯酸钠等,试剂成本高,为此邦普循环于2020年在CN112723330B(一种异磷锰铁矿型磷酸铁的制备方法及其应用)中提出采用氧气作为氧化剂,但氧气的传质和氧化电位都较低,不能有效实现亚铁的氧化,为了提高氧气的氧化能力,通过控制氧气分压和气体在溶液中的气泡为10~50 μm,以提高氧气氧化电位,并加入过渡金属添加剂(氧化镍、四氧化三钴、二氧化锰等),利用其表面催化作用产生羟基自由基,提高氧化速率,最终实现在pH=6的条件下选择性浸出锂,含锂液调节pH值除杂后加入碳酸钠沉淀得到碳酸锂。该专利磷酸铁锂废料中锂浸出率达到90.5%~99.9%,浸出液中铁、磷质量分数均低于0.1×10-6
2020年,为了克服现有技术产业化应用前景差的缺陷,湖南金源新材料股份有限公司在WO2022105463A1(Comprehensive recycling method for waste lithium iron phosphate batteries)中提出利用氧化剂氯酸钠选择性提取锂,控制酸性pH值,使绝大部分磷酸铁保留在提锂渣中,该专利锂溶出率达99.9%,废水量减少75%以上,相对生产成本降低25%左右,并已产业化应用。
为使金属全部浸出到溶液中,通常采用高浓度的过量酸,导致后续需要大量的碱,为此,釜庆大学于2021年在CN115772603A(从锂铁磷酸盐选择性地回收锂的方法)中提出仅利用硫酸本身的酸性和氧化性,通过控制锂铁磷酸盐(LiFePO4)与硫酸溶液的反应条件,实现锂离子的选择性浸出,锂回收率达到99%以上。
2021年,为了减少氧化酸性浸出药剂使用量大的问题,江西悦锂科技有限公司在CN114039117A(一种废旧磷酸铁锂电池中锂的选择性回收方法)中提出采用臭氧作为氧化剂,将磷酸铁锂正极材料与盐酸水溶液混合,通入臭氧进行锂选择性浸出,锂浸出率达到94%以上,碳酸锂产品纯度达到99.7%,实现减少药剂使用的同时避免其他氧化剂添加造成的新杂质引入。
为了提高金属浸出率,2022年,四川长虹格润环保科技股份有限公司在CN115744940A(一种回收废旧磷酸铁锂正极粉中有价金属的方法)中将正极粉分选降铝后,在盐酸过氧化氢选择性提锂步骤中加入表面活性剂降低溶液表面张力,提高固体亲水性,进而提高金属浸出率。该专利锂浸出率为98.3%,产品为电池碳酸锂。
2023年,江苏贝特瑞纳米科技有限公司在CN117401665A(一种废弃磷酸铁锂正极材料的回收再利用方法)中提出以过氧乙酸溶剂作为氧化酸性浸出剂实现废旧磷酸铁锂材料中锂的选择性浸出,过氧乙酸溶剂可直接溶解在去离子水中,且该反应可在空气中直接进行,无需惰性气氛保护,具有回收方法简单、成本低、环境污染少、节能效果好和经济效益高等优点。
2023年,为避免采用无机强酸造成二次污染,同时可以实现锂的高效选择性回收,南昌航空大学在CN117142497A(一种短程清洁回收退役锂电池关键金属的方法)中提出采用草酸酯进行选择性提锂,草酸酯在温和的条件下能水解成草酸和甲醇,水解成分起到协同氧化酸性浸出作用,锂浸出率最高达99.99%。
1)在新能源产业高速发展的背景下,依托传统湿法冶金工艺深厚的技术积累,废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收技术发展迅猛,短短15年时间专利申请量高达450余件,目前已进入快速产业化、高效专利化阶段。
2)废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收整体上呈全浸出及选择性浸出并行发展模式,后者以分离过程简单、终产品纯度高等优势成为现阶段主流浸出技术,其中氧化酸性浸出是成熟度最高的选择性浸出技术,高温相转化法次之,电化学法和氧化剂浸出位于第三水平,而碱性浸出法逐渐被产业淘汰。综合技术成熟度及分支技术年度专利申请趋势来看,选择性氧化酸性浸出由于其优越的选择性及经济效益优势,除非被不可预见的、具有更优综合效益的其他新型工艺取代,否则仍将是该领域未来的重点发展方向。
3)现阶段废旧磷酸铁锂电池浸出回收技术已达到较高水平,目前回收技术的瓶颈主要表现在如何降低回收成本、精简回收工艺、降低能耗、高价值回收非锂元素、减少三废排放以及产出高纯产品等方面。建议各研究主体加大研发力度,重视和加强相关技术专利布局,主动掌握市场竞争主动权。
