To extract rare earth elements (REE) of yttrium (Y) and cerium (Ce) from yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG) fluorescent powder, experiments were performed for YAG by adopting direct acid leaching and roasting-acid leaching process, respectively. The effects of various factors on the leaching rates of Y and Ce were investigated, including roasting agent types and dosage, roasting temperature, roasting time, as well as leaching temperature and leaching time. It is shown that YAG fluorescent powder is stable in structure, while Y and Ce elements therein, not in the form of simple oxides, cannot be effectively extracted by direct acid leaching; a roasting pretreatment can effectively destroy the structure of YAG fluorescent powder, and convert the rare earth elements into oxides, which is beneficial to the following acid leaching process. After 2 h roasting at 900 ℃ with YAG and Na2CO3 in a mass ratio of 1∶0.5, and then 1 h leaching at 60 ℃ with HCl at a concentration of 3 mol/L, a liquid-solid ratio of 20 mL/g, and 1.2 mL/g of hydrogen peroxide, the leaching rates of Y and Ce can reach 97.23% and 84.91%, respectively.

为了从钇铝石榴石(YAG)掺铈荧光粉中提取稀土元素Y和Ce,对其进行了直接酸浸和焙烧-酸浸实验,探究了焙烧剂种类及用量、焙烧温度、焙烧时间及浸出温度、浸出时间等因素对Y和Ce浸出率的影响。结果表明,YAG荧光粉结构性质稳定,Y和Ce元素不是以简单的氧化物形式存在其中,因此无法通过直接酸浸方法将其有效提取;焙烧预处理能有效破坏YAG荧光粉的结构,使稀土以氧化物形式存在,有利于后续酸浸;当YAG与Na2CO3质量比1∶0.5、900 ℃下焙烧2 h,再在盐酸浓度3 mol/L、液固比20 mL/g、双氧水用量1.2 mL/g、60 ℃下浸出1 h,Y和Ce浸出率分别可达97.23%和84.91%。

为了从钇铝石榴石(YAG)掺铈荧光粉中提取稀土元素Y和Ce,对其进行了直接酸浸和焙烧-酸浸实验,探究了焙烧剂种类及用量、焙烧温度、焙烧时间及浸出温度、浸出时间等因素对Y和Ce浸出率的影响。结果表明,YAG荧光粉结构性质稳定,Y和Ce元素不是以简单的氧化物形式存在其中,因此无法通过直接酸浸方法将其有效提取;焙烧预处理能有效破坏YAG荧光粉的结构,使稀土以氧化物形式存在,有利于后续酸浸;当YAG与Na2CO3质量比1∶0.5、900 ℃下焙烧2 h,再在盐酸浓度3 mol/L、液固比20 mL/g、双氧水用量1.2 mL/g、60 ℃下浸出1 h,Y和Ce浸出率分别可达97.23%和84.91%。

To extract rare earth elements (REE) of yttrium (Y) and cerium (Ce) from yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG) fluorescent powder, experiments were performed for YAG by adopting direct acid leaching and roasting-acid leaching process, respectively. The effects of various factors on the leaching rates of Y and Ce were investigated, including roasting agent types and dosage, roasting temperature, roasting time, as well as leaching temperature and leaching time. It is shown that YAG fluorescent powder is stable in structure, while Y and Ce elements therein, not in the form of simple oxides, cannot be effectively extracted by direct acid leaching; a roasting pretreatment can effectively destroy the structure of YAG fluorescent powder, and convert the rare earth elements into oxides, which is beneficial to the following acid leaching process. After 2 h roasting at 900 ℃ with YAG and Na2CO3 in a mass ratio of 1∶0.5, and then 1 h leaching at 60 ℃ with HCl at a concentration of 3 mol/L, a liquid-solid ratio of 20 mL/g, and 1.2 mL/g of hydrogen peroxide, the leaching rates of Y and Ce can reach 97.23% and 84.91%, respectively.

稀土元素是重要的战略资源,因其独特的光电磁特性在多个前沿领域展现出关键作用[1],市场需求不断扩大[2]。目前,世界许多国家稀土元素储备失衡,面临供应不足风险[3],因此稀土资源二次回收利用显得尤为重要[4]。钇铝石榴石(yttrium aluminum garnet,YAG)掺铈(Ce)荧光粉,化学式为Y3Al5O10∶Ce3+,是由Y2O3和Al2O3反应生成的一种复合氧化物。YAG荧光粉发光效率高、发射峰宽、化学性质稳定,被广泛用于制造白光LED。白光LED逐渐取代传统的白炽灯和荧光灯,成为照明产业的主力产品[5],然而LED灯具有一定寿命,废旧LED灯中含有的稀土元素Y和Ce应用于催化、磁性等领域,具有极高的回收利用价值,有效回收其中稀土元素,不仅有利于稀土资源可持续利用,而且有利于降低环境污染。
目前少有从YAG荧光粉中提取稀土元素的报道,但从三基色荧光粉中提取稀土元素的研究成果可为此类荧光粉的回收利用提供借鉴。三基色荧光粉由黄粉、绿粉和蓝粉按照一定比例混合而成[6]。红粉中Y和Eu可通过直接酸浸法提取[7]。绿粉和蓝粉为尖晶石结构,直接酸碱浸出很难从中提取稀土元素[8],但经过焙烧再添加助浸剂浸出,Ce和Tb浸出率可达90%以上[9]。本实验首先采用直接酸浸法提取Y和Ce,浸出率不到2%;而采用焙烧-酸浸法提取稀土元素,通过优化实验条件,获得了较高的Y和Ce浸出率。研究结果可为后续YAG荧光粉的回收利用提供技术依据。
YAG荧光粉由常熟市鑫联荧光材料有限公司提供,规格为Y4454-15H,批次为LB23033101。YAG荧光粉属立方晶系,具有石榴石结构,石榴石的晶胞可看作是十二面体、八面体和四面体的链接网。YAG的XRD图谱如图1所示。由图1可知,YAG的衍射峰基本上与钇铝石榴石的衍射峰(JCPDS,33-0040)对应,少部分衍射峰与Y2O3的衍射峰(JCPDS,41-1105)对应,表明YAG中钇铝石榴石纯度较高。
通过X射线荧光光谱对YAG化学成分进行分析,结果见表1。稀土成分主要为Y2O3,其次为CeO2
实验试剂主要包括黄粉、盐酸、碳酸钠等,均为分析纯。实验设备包括马弗炉、磁力搅拌恒温水浴锅、真空泵等。
通过焙烧[10-12]改变YAG的结构和化学性质,使其中的稀土转化为其氧化物形式,更易于后续的酸浸。以碳酸钠为焙烧剂,在焙烧过程中,YAG主要发生以下反应:
焙烧产物在盐酸浸出过程中发生以下反应:
分别采用直接酸浸工艺、焙烧-酸浸工艺提取稀土元素。
直接酸浸实验:将1 g YAG与不同种类和浓度的酸装进锥形瓶,置于恒温加热磁力搅拌器中进行酸浸,酸浸后过滤、定容、稀释,取样进行ICP测定并计算稀土浸出率。
焙烧预处理-酸浸实验:将1 g YAG与不同种类焙烧剂混匀后置于坩埚中,在箱式电阻炉中进行焙烧预处理,焙烧后产物加入锥形瓶中,加入一定量的酸,将锥形瓶放入磁力搅拌水浴锅,在一定条件下浸出,浸出结束后过滤,对滤液进行定容后稀释,采用ICP测量稀释后液体中稀土元素含量并计算稀土浸出率。
采用ICP分析法测定溶液中稀土含量,采用STA449F3型综合热分析仪,通过测量焙烧过程中物质质量变化[13],推测YAG与焙烧剂开始发生反应和结束反应时的温度。
在盐酸浓度4 mol/L、液固比50 mL/g、60 ℃条件下浸出4 h,考察了HCl、H2SO4和混酸(体积比1∶1)对稀土浸出率的影响,结果如图2所示。从图2可以看出,HCl、H2SO4、HCl+H2SO4对稀土的浸出能力均较弱,浸出率不到2%,这可能是因为Y3Al5O12∶Ce3+的主要结构为钇铝石榴石(YAG),YAG化学性质非常稳定,晶体结构非常牢固,常见的酸与YAG几乎不发生反应,只有在非常强的酸如氢氟酸、高氯酸中,YAG可能会发生一定程度的反应。从图2可以看出,HCl对YAG中Y的浸出能力相对较强,后续采用HCl进行酸浸。
将质量比1∶2的YAG与碳酸钠混合均匀,在空气气氛下,以升温速率10 ℃/min从室温升至1 200 ℃,对升温过程进行DSC-TG分析,记录不同温度下样品的质量,DSC-TG-DTG热分析结果如图3所示。由TG曲线可知,从室温到850 ℃左右,质量损失率为1.51%,继续加热至1 000 ℃,样品失重率为9.49%。DTG曲线显示在805.3 ℃峰谷处样品开始失重,说明为反应前兆。DSC曲线显示在861.9 ℃时有一个内热峰,这是由于温度达到碳酸钠的熔点(851 ℃),碳酸钠开始分解,与YAG发生反应,生成新产物而导致热量发生变化,同时有水的生成,从而失重,直到1 060.2 ℃,质量不再降低,可推断两者反应基本结束。
在焙烧温度900 ℃、焙烧时间2 h、YAG与不同焙烧剂质量比1∶2条件下进行预处理,再用3 mol/L盐酸在液固比20 mL/g、60 ℃下浸出2 h,焙烧剂种类对稀土浸出率的影响如图4所示。从图4可以看出,Na2CO3为焙烧剂时效果较好,Y浸出率可达84%,Ce浸出率为73%。4种焙烧剂对YAG的晶体结构破坏效果大小为:Na2CO3>NaOH>NaHCO3>CaCO3,YAG在与前3种焙烧剂进行焙烧时,YAG的结构被破坏,Y3Al5O12分解为易溶于酸的Y2O3和Al2O3,焙烧产物再用酸浸出时Y和Ce能更好地被提取出来。
YAG与Na2CO3质量比1∶2,其他条件不变,焙烧温度对稀土浸出率的影响见图5。晶体分解率在很大程度上受焙烧温度的影响[14]。由图5可知,焙烧温度升高,YAG分解率提高,稀土浸出率相应提高。焙烧温度500 ℃时,稀土浸出率不到1%,说明此时YAG与Na2CO3没有开始反应,YAG结构也没有发生变化,500~800 ℃时,浸出率均低于40%,800~900 ℃浸出率迅速提高,且Na2CO3熔点为851 ℃,说明此时两者发生反应,900 ℃时Y浸出率为82.14%,Ce浸出率为72.34%,1 000 ℃时Y浸出率高达98%,说明两者基本完全反应。综合考虑能耗与浸出率,确定焙烧温度为900 ℃。
焙烧温度900 ℃,其他条件不变,焙烧时间对稀土浸出率的影响见图6。由图6可知,稀土浸出率随着焙烧时间增加而升高。焙烧0.5~2.0 h,浸出率提高迅速,说明在此期间,YAG与碳酸钠充分反应,2.0 h时Y和Ce浸出率分别为82.65%和73.24%,2.0 h后,Y浸出率还有上升趋势,Ce浸出率变化趋于平缓。综合考虑能耗等因素,确定焙烧时间为2.0 h。
焙烧时间2 h,其他条件不变,YAG与Na2CO3质量比对稀土浸出率的影响如图7所示。由图7可知,随着碳酸钠用量增大,稀土浸出率先提高再降低,当YAG与碳酸钠质量比1∶0.5时,Y和Ce浸出率都达到最大值,分别为92.97%和82.45%。碳酸钠用量过高,一是会产生烧结现象,不利于YAG的分解,从而影响YAG与碳酸钠的反应,后续洗涤难度也会增大;二是焙烧产物中有未反应的碳酸钠,在酸浸过程中会与酸反应,从而降低浸出率。确定YAG与碳酸钠质量比为1∶0.5。
以YAG与Na2CO3质量比1∶0.5、900 ℃下焙烧2 h后所得焙烧料用于酸浸实验。由直接浸出实验结果可知,盐酸的浸出效果好,以下采用盐酸对焙烧产物进行酸浸。
盐酸浓度3 mol/L、液固比20 mL/g、浸出时间2.0 h,浸出温度对稀土浸出率的影响如图8所示。由图8可知,30~60 ℃时,随着浸出温度上升,稀土浸出率逐渐升高;60 ℃时焙烧产物中稀土浸出率达到最大,Y浸出率为91.96%,Ce浸出率为81.23%;60~80 ℃时,随着浸出温度升高,焙烧产物中稀土浸出率略有下降,但均保持在较高水平。可能是因为30~60 ℃时,随着浸出温度升高,焙烧产物活性增大,然而因为温度较高,会使易挥发的盐酸出现部分挥发,从而导致浸出率下降。同时兼顾浸出率与成本,综合考虑,浸出温度60 ℃为宜。
浸出温度60 ℃,其他条件不变,盐酸浓度对稀土浸出率的影响如图9所示。由图9可知,稀土浸出率随着盐酸浓度增大先增大再趋于平缓然后下降。盐酸浓度3 mol/L时,Y和Ce浸出率分别为92.79%和83.48%。确定适宜的盐酸浓度为3 mol/L。
盐酸浓度3 mol/L,其他条件不变,浸出液固比对稀土浸出率的影响如图10所示。由图10可知,稀土浸出率随着浸出液固比增大先增大后减小,浸出液固比20 mL/g时,Y和Ce浸出率达到最大,分别为91.73%和82.13%;浸出液固比大于20 mL/g后,稀土浸出率有下降趋势,说明盐酸不宜过多。综合多方面因素,确定适宜的浸出液固比为20 mL/g。
液固比20 mL/g,其他条件不变,浸出时间对稀土浸出率的影响如图11所示。由图11可知,浸出时间0.5~1.0 h时,稀土浸出率有所升高,说明焙烧产物与盐酸发生反应,稀土元素被浸出;浸出时间1.0 h时Y和Ce浸出率都达到最大,分别为94.03%和84.25%;浸出时间超过1.0 h后,稀土浸出率变化趋于平缓,说明反应完成。由结果可推断,焙烧产物与盐酸的反应速度较快,盐酸浸出过程受浸出时间的影响较小。综合考虑,浸出时间确定为1.0 h。
浸出过程中添加适量的助浸剂有利于反应正向进行,从而提高稀土元素的浸出率。浸出时间1.0 h,其他条件不变,助浸剂双氧水添加量对稀土浸出率的影响如图12所示。由图12可知,添加双氧水对浸出率有一定提高,其中Y浸出率提高更明显,双氧水添加量为1.2 mL/g时,Y和Ce浸出率分别为97.23%和84.91%。使用助浸剂可以减少碳酸钠用量、缩短浸出时间,达到更低成本下的高效浸出。
YAG和Na2CO3按质量比1∶0.5混合后均匀置于坩埚中,放入箱式高温烧结炉中进行焙烧,再对原矿和900 ℃焙烧产物进行X射线衍射分析,结果如图13所示。由图13可知,焙烧前YAG的主要衍射峰为Y3Al5O12,少部分衍射峰对应Y2O3衍射峰,900 ℃焙烧后晶形有明显变化,此时没有Y3Al5O12衍射峰,出现了大量Y2O3衍射峰,说明此时YAG与Na2CO3发生了反应,YAG的石榴石结构被破坏,Y和Ce大多以简单氧化物形式出现,后续能更好地用盐酸浸出。
1)YAG荧光粉结构稳定,直接浸出时无法有效提取其中的稀土元素。
2)综合考虑成本以及能耗,当YAG与Na2CO3质量比1∶0.5、900 ℃下焙烧2.0 h,再用3 mol/L盐酸在60 ℃、液固比20 mL/g、双氧水添加量1.2 mL/g条件下浸出1.0 h,Y和Ce的浸出率可达97.23%和84.91%。
