Based on the Derwent Innovations Index (DII), the technologies for recycling cathode materials in spent lithium-ion batteries were analyzed in terms of patent indicators, including the number of patent applications and patent holders, the number of priority rights in countries/regions, patent citations, patent H-index among others. It is found that the recycling technologies are in rapid development, and the Chinese research organizations have created a patent portfolio plan, including a large number of high-quality patents that can improve competition. Over the past five years, the technologies, including pretreatment processes of discharge and separation, recovery of lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese, extraction of precious metals by hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes, as well as recycling equipment, have become hotpots in this field. China has a relatively large number of core patents, mainly involving hydrometallurgical process, direct recycling process, and a combination of pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes. Finally, some countermeasures and suggestions are proposed for enhancing the competitiveness of China's industry in recycling cathode materials in spent lithium-ion batteries, which provides references for promoting the healthy development of China's lithium battery recycling industry.

基于德温特专利索引数据库,采用专利信息分析法分析锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域的专利申请量、专利权人数量、国家/区域专利优先权数量、专利被引用次数、H指数等专利指标,发现当前该领域正处于快速发展期,我国研发机构在该领域布局了大量专利且专利质量较高、竞争力较强。近五年该领域技术研发热点包括放电、分离等预处理工艺,锂、镍、钴、锰回收及湿法工艺、火法工艺等贵重金属提取工艺,以及回收装置等。我国核心专利数量较多,主要涉及湿法工艺、直接再生工艺、火法+湿法工艺等。提出了提升我国锂离子电池正极材料回收产业竞争力的对策与建议,可为更好地促进我国锂电池回收产业健康发展提供借鉴。

基于德温特专利索引数据库,采用专利信息分析法分析锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域的专利申请量、专利权人数量、国家/区域专利优先权数量、专利被引用次数、H指数等专利指标,发现当前该领域正处于快速发展期,我国研发机构在该领域布局了大量专利且专利质量较高、竞争力较强。近五年该领域技术研发热点包括放电、分离等预处理工艺,锂、镍、钴、锰回收及湿法工艺、火法工艺等贵重金属提取工艺,以及回收装置等。我国核心专利数量较多,主要涉及湿法工艺、直接再生工艺、火法+湿法工艺等。提出了提升我国锂离子电池正极材料回收产业竞争力的对策与建议,可为更好地促进我国锂电池回收产业健康发展提供借鉴。

Based on the Derwent Innovations Index (DII), the technologies for recycling cathode materials in spent lithium-ion batteries were analyzed in terms of patent indicators, including the number of patent applications and patent holders, the number of priority rights in countries/regions, patent citations, patent H-index among others. It is found that the recycling technologies are in rapid development, and the Chinese research organizations have created a patent portfolio plan, including a large number of high-quality patents that can improve competition. Over the past five years, the technologies, including pretreatment processes of discharge and separation, recovery of lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese, extraction of precious metals by hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes, as well as recycling equipment, have become hotpots in this field. China has a relatively large number of core patents, mainly involving hydrometallurgical process, direct recycling process, and a combination of pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes. Finally, some countermeasures and suggestions are proposed for enhancing the competitiveness of China's industry in recycling cathode materials in spent lithium-ion batteries, which provides references for promoting the healthy development of China's lithium battery recycling industry.

锂离子电池具有能量密度大、自放电率低、循环性能好、寿命长、绿色环保等显著优势,被广泛应用于电动汽车、电子产品、储能等各领域[1]。随着锂离子电池技术的迭代升级以及使用年限增加,市场上将产生大量退役(废旧)锂离子电池,若不妥善处理,这些废旧电池有可能严重威胁生态环境,阻碍绿色可持续发展。废旧锂离子电池中富含锂、镍、钴等重要战略资源[2],对退役锂离子电池的资源化回收并循环利用,既能避免环境污染、实现清洁生产,又能提取宝贵资源、创造经济价值。锂离子电池主要由正极、负极、电解液、隔膜和外壳等组成[3],目前,市场上应用较广泛的正极材料主要包括钴酸锂(LiCoO2)、锰酸锂(LiMn2O4)、磷酸铁锂(LiFePO4)、三元锂[镍钴锰酸锂(LiNixCoMnO2)和镍钴铝酸锂(LiNiCoAlO2)]等[4],正极材料含有丰富的Li、Ni、Co等有价金属,具有很高回收价值[5]
专利是科技创新的重要产出成果,专利文献蕴含技术、经济、法律等重要情报信息[6]。本文详细梳理锂离子电池回收关键技术的实现路径,基于锂离子电池回收技术领域的全球专利数据,深刻剖析该领域技术发展趋势、研发机构竞争实力、关键核心技术等,可为相关研究机构开展技术创新、专利布局等提供决策支撑。
通过文献调研法,详细梳理锂离子电池正极材料回收领域的相关核心技术,确定了锂离子电池正极材料回收技术可分解为预处理和冶金回收两步,详见表1
预处理过程又可细分为放电、拆解或破碎、分离等工序[7],预处理的目的是从废旧电池中分离出负极材料、外壳、集流体等零件或杂质,获得较纯净的正极材料[8]。之后,需要按照冶金工艺从正极材料中提取有价金属元素,目前锂离子电池正极材料回收技术4条典型的工艺路径包括火法工艺、湿法工艺、直接再生工艺和火法+湿法工艺等[9]
本文以德温特专利索引数据库(Derwent Innovations Index,简称DII)为数据来源,选取Derwent Innovation(简称DI)为检索分析平台,根据技术分解情况,选取关键词,制定检索策略,进行锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域相关专利检索。检索日期(数据采集截止时间)为2025年4月2日,在DII中共检出锂离子电池正极材料回收技术相关专利(族)2 968件。以获取的专利数据为分析对象,基于专利申请量、专利权人数量、国家/区域专利优先权数量、专利被引用次数、H指数等专利指标,从技术发展趋势、技术来源国、主要研发机构竞争实力、技术研发热点、核心专利技术等五个维度,深入分析锂离子电池正极材料回收领域的技术发展态势,为相关研究机构开展技术创新、专利布局等提供决策支撑。
通过分析专利申请量和专利申请人数量的动态关系[10],得到锂离子电池正极材料回收技术发展趋势,见表2。分析可知,锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域的专利申请始于1997年,专利JP10287864A[11]由日本公司Nippon Chemical Industrial Co.,Ltd.申请,涉及向二次锂离子电池正极活性化合物中加入矿物酸和过氧化氢,使其与溶剂接触,再提取金属,从而回收有价值的金属。1997—2016年锂离子电池正极材料回收技术处于试验探索阶段,专利的年申请量不多,在该技术领域开展研发活动的机构数量也较少,申请量和申请人数量增速缓慢,处于技术的萌芽期。2017—2025年,随着锂离子电池市场的繁荣,锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域创新活动非常活跃,技术得到不断完善,该领域专利申请量也呈现迅速增长的发展态势,年申请量均超过百件,并于2023年达到申请峰值(520件);同时,各申请人(研发机构)非常重视该领域的发展前景,纷纷进入该技术领域,加大创新资源的投入,进行专利技术布局。总之,目前锂离子电池正极材料回收技术正处于技术发展期,专利申请量和研发机构数量迅速增加,具备较好的产业化条件。
通过统计各国家/地区专利的优先权数量及所占份额,分析锂离子电池正极材料回收技术的来源情况。锂离子电池正极材料回收技术来源分布如图1所示。由图1可知,该技术领域的主要来源国为中国、韩国、日本、美国和印度等,上述国家专利申请量约占全球专利申请总量的97.5%。我国专利申请量达2 567件,说明我国在该技术领域的专利申请机构较多,创新的专利产出成果较多,研发实力较强,是最主要的技术来源国。
专利被引用次数越高,说明专利受到同行的关注度越高,在行业内的影响越大,可以间接反映专利质量较高[12]。通过计量分析得到锂离子电池正极材料回收技术专利申请总量前15位主要研发机构(申请人/专利权人)的专利申请量及专利被引用情况(见表3),从专利数量和专利质量两个维度综合评价研发机构的研发实力。从所属区域来看,主要研发机构包括12家中国机构、2家韩国机构和1家日本机构,反映出我国机构研发实力较强。从机构类型来看,包括5所大学、1所科研机构、9家企业;其中,我国研发机构中大学及科研机构数量(6家)占比较大,表明在该领域我国研发机构大多处于实验研发阶段;而3家国外研发机构均为企业,表明国外由市场驱动的应用型专利申请占主导地位。从专利数量来看,中南大学专利申请总数遥遥领先(148件),占全球申请量总数的5%;湖南邦普循环科技有限公司(77件)、广东邦普循环科技有限公司(74件)和昆明理工大学(68件)等也是重要的研发机构,排名前15位的申请人专利申请量之和占全球总申请量的22.8%;可见专利申请量相对分散,大企业没有形成技术垄断。从专利质量来看,中南大学、中国科学院过程工程研究所、日本JX金属株式会社、合肥国轩高科动力能源有限公司等专利被引用总数较大,专利整体质量较高;JX金属株式会社平均被引用次数远高于其他机构,专利质量较高。
按照专利被引用次数,对锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域专利权人的每件专利进行排序,第h件专利被引用次数大于或等于h次,第h+1件及之后的专利被引用次数小于h,则该专利权人的H指数为h[13]。本文借助H指数来评估专利权人的竞争实力,H指数越高,说明专利权人的竞争实力越强。在H指数排名前十的研发机构中(见表4),有9家中国研发机构和1家日本研发机构,说明我国和日本研发机构不仅专利申请量较大、质量较高,而且竞争实力也较强。我国H指数前两名的研发机构为中南大学和中国科学院过程工程研究所,反映我国高校和科研院所研发竞争力相对较强,而企业H指数相对较低,竞争力相对较弱。我国企业应加大研发创新力度,积极开展以市场需求为导向的专利申请,实现将专利技术成果转化为现实生产力。
利用DI分析平台的专利地图分析功能[14],对摘要等文本进行聚类分析,得到锂离子电池正极材料回收技术专利地图,如图2所示。图中包括若干个山峰,每个山峰代表一类相近的技术主题,灰白色部分表示专利的聚集程度较高,可视为技术研发热点。图中每个点代表1件专利,圆点表示近5年专利研发热点,可见近5年研发热点基本覆盖了领域内的各技术分支,主要包括放电、分离等预处理工艺,锂回收、镍、钴、锰回收及湿法工艺、火法工艺等贵重金属提取工艺,以及回收过程用装置。
核心专利技术是指在某技术领域起关键作用,实施某项技术绕不开的专利[15],核心专利体现了企业的技术实力,通过识别核心专利技术,有助于帮助领域内的研发机构挖掘竞争对手的技术路径、合理开展专利布局。在核心专利的识别方法上,文献[16-17]通过研究指出专利被引用次数可作为核心专利的评价指标。本文通过计量专利被引用次数,得到锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域的十大核心专利技术,见表5,表中的最早优先权年表示该专利技术最早申请的年份。从区域分布来看,十大核心专利技术包括6件中国专利、2件日本专利、1件美国专利和1件韩国专利,表明中国、日本、美国和韩国掌握了该领域极多的核心专利技术。从技术工艺来看,通过分析专利摘要和全文可知,十大核心专利技术主要涉及锂离子电池正极材料回收技术的湿法工艺、直接再生工艺和火法+湿法工艺。从浸出剂的选择来看,核心专利采用的浸出剂以盐酸、硫酸、氢氧化钠、氨水等为主,分离方式以超声分离、磁选法分离、机械分离等为主。从技术功效来看,十大核心专利技术的技术功效主要涉及简单高效、低成本低能耗、环境友好、回收率高、适合规模化生产等。
其中,专利被引用次数最高的专利是日本的住友金属矿山株式会社于2005年申请的专利JP2007122885A[18],该专利涉及从汽车、计算机等使用的锂离子电池中收集贵重金属的方法,包括在活性炭存在的情况下用酸性溶液浸出正极活性物质,能够实现从锂离子电池中有效分离和回收Li、Ni和Co等有价值的金属,而无需进行诸如加热、焚烧之类的干燥处理。该专利累计被引用176次,受到领域内研发机构的广泛关注,我国的中南大学、合肥国轩高科动力能源股份公司、广东邦普循环科技有限公司等机构及美国、韩国研发机构均引用了该专利。
通过专利分析可知,从发展趋势来看,当前锂离子电池正极材料回收技术正处于快速发展期,专利申请量增长迅速,大量研发机构在该技术领域布局专利申请,该领域具备较好的产业化发展条件。从技术来源来看,我国专利申请量占全球总量的86.5%,是主要的技术来源国。从主要研发机构来看,中国、韩国和日本的研发机构专利申请数量较多,中国、日本的研发机构专利质量较高,我国重要的专利申请人中高校科研院所居多,专利大多聚焦基础研究,而国外专利大多为市场应用型;日本研发机构JX金属株式会社虽然专利申请量相对不高,但专利质量较高,优势显著。从专利申请量看,目前领域内的大企业没有形成“一家独大”的技术垄断局面。根据H指数的分析结果可知,我国中南大学和中国科学院过程工程研究所的竞争力较强,我国企业应加大研发创新力度,提高专利技术产业转化率。从技术研发热点来看,近5年锂离子电池正极材料回收技术研发热点包括放电、分离等预处理工艺,锂、镍、钴、锰回收及湿法工艺、火法工艺等贵重金属提取工艺,以及回收装置等。从核心专利技术来看,中国、日本、美国和韩国掌握了该领域较多的核心专利技术,核心专利主要涉及湿法工艺、直接再生工艺、火法+湿法工艺等。为了实现低碳环保和可持续发展,核心专利技术的技术功效更注重简单高效、低成本低能耗、环境友好、回收率高、适合规模化生产等。
锂离子电池是目前公认综合性能领先的可充电电池之一,正极材料约占其总成本的40%且具有极高的回收价值[19]。为推动锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域早日取得关键技术突破及实现规模化回收,以便保护环境、获取重要有价金属,需要从以下三个方面着重加强:
1)加强锂离子电池正极材料回收领域顶层设计。随着锂离子电池退役潮的到来,退役锂离子电池回收市场规模将不断扩大。目前,我国锂离子电池正极材料回收技术领域市场正处于蓬勃发展阶段,包括电池制造商、汽车制造商、回收企业、高校等不同产业领域的创新主体纷纷加入锂电池回收赛道。需要相关部门加强对该产业领域的顶层设计,包括完善相关市场准入制度,制定相关行业标准和技术路线图,出台相关政策措施,进一步提升锂离子电池回收产业的规范化,促进产业健康发展。
2)优化锂离子电池正极材料回收产业创新生态。鼓励龙头企业组建锂离子电池回收产业创新联盟,构建全球锂离子电池回收网络和锂电池溯源平台,借助“锂电池编码”有效记录电池从生产、销售、使用到回收的全生命周期,加强对退役锂电池的规范化管理。相关政府部门应积极引导行业内的企业、高校、科研机构、金融机构之间相互协作,加强技术交流、成果共享和资金扶持,从技术、平台、资金等多方面发力,促进锂电池回收领域精准化、科学化、精细化发展。
3)持续加强锂离子电池正极材料回收领域专利布局。相关政府部门应加大对锂电池回收领域内企业的税收扶持力度,鼓励企业加大研发投入,不断在湿法回收、火法回收、直接再生等技术领域开展技术创新和关键技术攻坚,优化浸出流程、反应条件、试剂配比,持续加强在相关技术领域的专利布局,不断降低金属损失率、提高金属回收效率、降低能耗、精简工艺、实现绿色环保,不断积累科技创新的专利产出,积极申请相关基础专利及外围专利,重点聚焦研发热点、前瞻布局技术空白点。
