The chemical composition, types and content of minerals, microregion quantitative energy spectrum analysis of titanium-bearing minerals, equilibrium estimate of TiO2, occurrence state of titanium-bearing minerals, particle size and dissociation degree of ilmenite in a vanadium-titanium magnetite ore from Panxi region have been investigated. By these means, the reasons for difficulty in this ore dressing were ascertained. The technical index of ilmenite concentrate and the main mineralogical factors affecting the ilmenite dressing effect have been analyzed comprehensively, which may provide a detailed scientific basis for development and utilization of this vanadium-titanium magnetite ore in Panxi region.

The chemical composition, types and content of minerals, microregion quantitative energy spectrum analysis of titanium-bearing minerals, equilibrium estimate of TiO2, occurrence state of titanium-bearing minerals, particle size and dissociation degree of ilmenite in a vanadium-titanium magnetite ore from Panxi region have been investigated. By these means, the reasons for difficulty in this ore dressing were ascertained. The technical index of ilmenite concentrate and the main mineralogical factors affecting the ilmenite dressing effect have been analyzed comprehensively, which may provide a detailed scientific basis for development and utilization of this vanadium-titanium magnetite ore in Panxi region.

钛(Ti)作为高端战略性金属材料,具有耐腐蚀、抗高温、耐低温、抗阻尼性能强、强度高、密度小、易加工等诸多优良性能,被广泛应用于航空航天、船舶、化工、医疗、电讯等多领域[1-4]。近年来,钛制品工业规模日益扩大,充分回收利用钛资源显得更加紧迫。中国是钛铁矿储量大国和钛生产大国。攀西地区钛资源保有储量(以TiO2计)为4.28×109 t,占全国钛储量的93%,是目前世界上最大的钛矿资源,但攀西地区钛的利用率仅21%,资源浪费极为严重[5-11]。本文以攀西地区某钒钛磁铁矿为研究对象,详细研究矿石中钛的赋存状态,旨在为设计合理的选矿工艺流程、实现资源效益最大化奠定基础。
矿石化学多元素分析结果见表1。由表1可知:该矿石TFe/FeO比为1.50,碱性系数为0.68;其中Fe和TiO2是选矿回收的主要对象;可考虑综合利用的对象有V2O5、Cr2O3和Co等;为获得铁精矿和钛精矿,需要选矿排除的SiO2、Al2O3、CaO和MgO等组分合计质量分数达55.47%;S质量分数略高,选矿过程中需密切关注其富集趋势。
铁和钛的化学物相分析结果见表2。结果表明:矿石中68.27%的铁以钛磁铁矿形式存在,这即为铁的理论回收率;10.00%和17.08%的铁分别以钛铁矿和含铁硅酸盐形式分布,选矿过程中二者将分别进入钛精矿和尾矿;矿石中43.34%的TiO2以钛铁矿形式存在,这即为TiO2的理论回收率;40.31%的TiO2以钛磁铁矿形式存在,选矿过程中该部分TiO2将进入铁精矿。
矿石中主要矿物组成见表3。矿石中金属矿物以钛磁铁矿为主,次为钛铁矿,此外还可见少量金属硫化物(主要包括黄铁矿和磁黄铁矿);脉石矿物主要是辉石,次为绿泥石、蛇纹石、闪石和榍石;其他微量矿物尚见磁铁矿、赤铁矿、褐铁矿、白铁矿、黄铜矿、闪锌矿、方铅矿、硫砷钴矿、石英、长石、橄榄石、石榴石、方解石、云母、黝帘石、绿帘石、滑石、尖晶石和磷灰石等。
为查明矿石中各矿物中的TiO2含量,采用扫描电镜分别对钛磁铁矿、钛铁矿、榍石、辉石、闪石、绿泥石和蛇纹石等进行能谱微区成分分析,分别随机选取上述矿物的30多个颗粒进行测定,结果见表4。由表4可知,矿石中绿泥石和蛇纹石并不含TiO2,钛铁矿中TiO2原子分数达51.82%,这即为选矿富集回收矿石中钛矿物时TiO2的理论品位;除钛铁矿外,TiO2在各矿物中的原子分数从高到低排序为:榍石,钛磁铁矿,闪石,辉石。
为进一步查明TiO2在矿石中的分布特点,根据矿石中含钛矿物的矿物含量(质量分数,下同)以及含钛矿物中TiO2的含量进行平衡计算,结果见表5。由表5可以看出,矿石中TiO2一是呈独立矿物——钛铁矿、榍石存在,分布率分别为43.25%和7.55%,二是以类质同象形式分布于钛磁铁矿、辉石和闪石中,分布率分别为40.79%、7.05%和1.36%。概算得:TiO2平衡系数为0.99%。
钛铁矿中TiO2可分为粒状和片状两种类型,二者大致比例为9∶1,其质量分数低于钛磁铁矿中TiO2
粒状钛铁矿如图1所示。粒状钛铁矿表面普遍较洁净,部分沿钛磁铁矿边缘或粒间毗连镶嵌,部分则呈星散浸染状嵌布在脉石中,少数与黄铁矿、磁黄铁矿和黄铜矿等金属硫化物交生,与其他矿物之间的接触界线普遍较为规则平直,偶见个别颗粒沿边缘、粒间及解理发生轻微的赤铁矿化和榍石化,粒度略小于钛磁铁矿,除个别粗者可达1.0 mm外,一般0.03~0.40 mm不等,少数细小者甚至小于0.02 mm。片状钛铁矿如图2所示。片状钛铁矿除出现在钛磁铁矿内部以外,亦可呈极细小的片状、微粒状沿少数辉石或闪石的解理定向分布,粒度多变化于0.001~0.02 mm之间。这种钛铁矿粒度过于微细、分散程度过高、与镶嵌矿物的交生关系过于复杂,以致磨矿过程中很难形成单体。
钛磁铁矿如图3所示。矿石中钛磁铁矿裂隙十分发育,次生变化微弱,常呈稠密、中等稠密~稀疏浸染状形式嵌布于脉石中,沿边缘或粒间分布钛铁矿及少量金属硫化物、褐铁矿,局部可过渡为团块状,粒度个别粗者可达4 mm以上,通常0.1~2.0 mm。
榍石分散程度较高,主要作为钛铁矿的蚀变产物存在,粒度一般在0.02 mm以下,部分甚至小于0.002 mm。常呈微细不规则状沿钛铁矿边缘、裂隙及解理充填分布,与钛铁矿的交生关系十分紧密,预计即使采用细磨,部分仍将以钛铁矿-榍石连生体存在。榍石本身含TiO2约40%,且细磨后将多与钛铁矿构成富连生体,即使因未完全解离而随钛铁矿进入钛精矿中,其对钛精矿的质量影响并不大。
辉石和闪石产出形式大致相同,常相互紧密镶嵌而构成金属矿物的嵌布基底,部分沿边缘、粒间及裂隙发生不同程度的绿泥石化。
对原矿块样、-3 mm破碎样和-0.59 mm、-0.42 mm、-0.30 mm、-0.21 mm、-0.15 mm、-0.105 mm、-0.075 mm等不同粒级原矿粉样中钛铁矿的粒度分别进行测定,结果分别如表67所示。结果表明:原矿块样中钛铁矿属不均匀中细粒嵌布范畴,钛铁矿具有易于破碎的特点;不同细度条件下原矿中钛铁矿的粒度均十分微细;随着磨矿细度提高,-0.02 mm微粒级钛铁矿分布率由8.52%提高至28.74%,而微粒级占比越大分选难度越大。
显然,无论是原矿-3 mm破碎样还是不同磨矿细度的粉样均出现了微粒级钛铁矿。因此,如何磨矿减少微粒级钛铁矿占比是本矿的重点亦是难点。在-3 mm细度下进行湿式抛尾,抛出25%左右的尾矿,铁钛损失率均不到10%。
采用MLA(矿物参数自动分析系统)对-0.59 mm、-0.42 mm、-0.30 mm、-0.21 mm、-0.15 mm、-0.105 mm和-0.075 mm等不同磨矿细度条件下原矿中钛铁矿的解离度分别进行了测定,结果见表8。由表8可知:随着磨矿细度提高,样品中单体钛铁矿所占比例逐渐增加,但单体占比均很低,显然,随着磨矿细度提高,钛铁矿并未得到有效解离,造成这一现象的原因可能是钛铁矿性脆,磨矿过程中优先自我破碎,在不断自我破碎过程中,部分钛铁矿发生过磨,部分钛铁矿才能与钛磁铁矿、榍石、辉石、绿泥石、闪石及蛇纹石等镶嵌矿物解离;各磨矿细度条件下钛铁矿富连生体(>3/4的连生体)占比均较高。
结合矿石的矿物组成及各矿物学参数,不同磨矿细度条件下从原矿中回收钛铁矿对应的钛精矿理想指标预测结果见表9。由表9可知:虽然各细度下钛铁矿解离度均很低,但因富连生体出现频率较高,对应的钛精矿TiO2品位仍可达47%以上;TiO2品位47%以上时,随着磨矿细度提高,钛精矿产率及TiO2回收率均呈现先升后降的趋势,钛精矿产率5.06%~5.91%,TiO2回收率21.31%~29.42%。单纯从钛铁矿粒度及解离度出发,不考虑回收铁的因素,建议在-0.59 mm或-0.21 mm的细度条件下对原矿进行阶磨阶选。在-0.59 mm细度下通过电选回收所有含钛铁矿颗粒,再将电选精矿细磨至-0.21 mm粒级后采用弱磁选脱除钛磁铁矿,最后进行多次浮选,预计最终钛精矿指标为:产率5.91%、TiO2品位47.27%、TiO2回收率29.42%。
实际选矿过程中因需优先考虑铁的回收,采用的是先选铁再选钛工艺:在磨矿细度-0.30 mm、-0.105 mm和-0.03 mm条件下分别进行弱磁选选铁,对选铁尾矿进行强磁选,强磁选精矿再经一粗五精浮选,获得的钛精矿实际指标为:产率3.68%、TiO2品位47.11%、TiO2回收率22.17%。造成钛精矿实际选矿指标与预测结果有差异的主要原因是:磨矿细度-0.105 mm和-0.03 mm对选钛非常不利,从磨矿细度-0.15 mm开始TiO2回收率就已下降,随着微粒级钛铁矿占比不断提高,TiO2富集难度也越来越大。
矿石中呈钛铁矿产出的TiO2仅43.25%,存在于钛磁铁矿和脉石矿物中的TiO2所占比例分别为40.79%和15.96%,分选过程中后者将分别随同钛磁铁矿或脉石一起进入铁精矿或尾矿中。分布在钛磁铁矿和脉石矿物中的TiO2所占比例较高是导致TiO2回收率偏低的主要原因。另外,矿石中钛铁矿性脆,部分裂隙发育,磨矿过程中易于破碎,因此需特别关注防止其出现过磨而影响选矿效果。
少数钛铁矿呈微片晶分布于钛磁铁矿和脉石矿物中,因其粒度过于微细,预计在较粗的磨矿细度条件下该部分钛铁矿将不可避免地随同钛磁铁矿或脉石分别进入铁精矿或尾矿中,这是造成TiO2回收率偏低的原因之一。
1)从原矿中回收钛铁矿时,预测钛精矿理论技术指标为:产率6.85%、TiO2品位51.82%、TiO2回收率43.34%。但因少数钛铁矿呈极细小的片状、微粒状与钛磁铁矿及脉石构成极为复杂的镶嵌关系,选矿过程中该部分钛铁矿将不可避免地损失到铁精矿或尾矿中,导致TiO2回收率偏低。
2)减少微粒级钛铁矿产生的同时提高其解离度既是本矿的重点亦是难点。原矿-3 mm破碎样中已出现微粒级钛铁矿,且随着磨矿细度提高,微粒级钛铁矿占比提高幅度较大,但钛铁矿单体分布率仍很低。磨矿细度-0.075 mm时,微粒级钛铁矿占比高达28.74%,但此时单体占比仅67.38%。
3)单纯从钛铁矿粒度、解离度及优先回收钛铁矿的角度出发,建议在磨矿细度-0.59 mm或-0.21 mm条件下对原矿进行阶磨阶选,采用电选-弱磁选-浮选工艺预计可获得TiO2品位47.27%、TiO2回收率29.42%的钛精矿。
