By adjusting the pH value of electrokinetic remediation cathode and adding enhancers, the total removal rate of Cr from the contaminated soil by electrokinetic remediation technology was increased. Then, the change of energy consumption and law of Cr migration and distribution during the electrokinetic remediation project were explored. The results show that EDTA, citric acid and hydrochloric acid can significantly enhance the total Cr removal rate during the electrokinetic remediation process. The total removal rates of Cr were 24.47% and 23.24% respectively after 7 days of electrokinetic remediation without adjusting the pH value of the cathode, by adding EDTA and citric acid into the soil. The pH value of the cathode isn't adjusted, which results in an obvious polarization effect. In contrast, the total removal rates of Cr were 44.20% (4.9 times as much as the blank) and 36.80%, respectively, after 7 days of electrokinetic remediation with the pH value of the cathode controlled, by adding hydrochloric acid and citric acid to the soil, respectively. Controlling the pH value of the cathode can effectively prevent the precipitation of Cr in the cathode region, thus enhancing the removal rate of Cr, but won't significantly increase the energy consumption of the electrokinetic remediation process. This method can greatly increase the total removal rate of Cr in contaminated soil by electrokinetic remediation, which is of significance in guiding the remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil.

通过调控电动修复阴极pH值及添加增强剂,提升电动修复技术对Cr污染土壤的总Cr去除率,并探究了电动修复工程的能耗变化及Cr迁移分布规律。结果表明,乙二胺四乙酸(EDTA)、柠檬酸和盐酸等增强试剂能显著提升电动修复过程的总Cr去除率。不调控电动修复阴极pH值,电动修复土壤7d,向土壤分别添加EDTA、柠檬酸时,总Cr去除率分别为24.47%、23.24%;不调控阴极pH值,会发生较明显的偏极效应。控制电动修复阴极pH值,电动修复土壤7d,向土壤分别添加盐酸、柠檬酸时,总Cr去除率分别为44.20%(是空白电动修复组的4.9倍)、36.80%;控制阴极pH值,能有效阻止阴极区域Cr发生沉淀作用,提高Cr的去除率;控制阴极pH值不会显著增加电动修复过程能耗。该方法大幅提升了电动修复对土壤中总Cr的去除率,对重金属污染土壤的修复具有指导意义。

通过调控电动修复阴极pH值及添加增强剂,提升电动修复技术对Cr污染土壤的总Cr去除率,并探究了电动修复工程的能耗变化及Cr迁移分布规律。结果表明,乙二胺四乙酸(EDTA)、柠檬酸和盐酸等增强试剂能显著提升电动修复过程的总Cr去除率。不调控电动修复阴极pH值,电动修复土壤7d,向土壤分别添加EDTA、柠檬酸时,总Cr去除率分别为24.47%、23.24%;不调控阴极pH值,会发生较明显的偏极效应。控制电动修复阴极pH值,电动修复土壤7d,向土壤分别添加盐酸、柠檬酸时,总Cr去除率分别为44.20%(是空白电动修复组的4.9倍)、36.80%;控制阴极pH值,能有效阻止阴极区域Cr发生沉淀作用,提高Cr的去除率;控制阴极pH值不会显著增加电动修复过程能耗。该方法大幅提升了电动修复对土壤中总Cr的去除率,对重金属污染土壤的修复具有指导意义。

By adjusting the pH value of electrokinetic remediation cathode and adding enhancers, the total removal rate of Cr from the contaminated soil by electrokinetic remediation technology was increased. Then, the change of energy consumption and law of Cr migration and distribution during the electrokinetic remediation project were explored. The results show that EDTA, citric acid and hydrochloric acid can significantly enhance the total Cr removal rate during the electrokinetic remediation process. The total removal rates of Cr were 24.47% and 23.24% respectively after 7 days of electrokinetic remediation without adjusting the pH value of the cathode, by adding EDTA and citric acid into the soil. The pH value of the cathode isn't adjusted, which results in an obvious polarization effect. In contrast, the total removal rates of Cr were 44.20% (4.9 times as much as the blank) and 36.80%, respectively, after 7 days of electrokinetic remediation with the pH value of the cathode controlled, by adding hydrochloric acid and citric acid to the soil, respectively. Controlling the pH value of the cathode can effectively prevent the precipitation of Cr in the cathode region, thus enhancing the removal rate of Cr, but won't significantly increase the energy consumption of the electrokinetic remediation process. This method can greatly increase the total removal rate of Cr in contaminated soil by electrokinetic remediation, which is of significance in guiding the remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil.

有毒金属污染物铬(Cr)主要以六价铬(Cr(Ⅵ))和三价铬离子(Cr(Ⅲ))形式存在于受污染土壤中。Cr(Ⅵ)通常以HCrO4-、CrO42-和Cr2O72-形式存在,Cr(Ⅲ)主要以氢氧化物和氧化物形式存在[1-3]。Cr(Ⅵ)具有很高的毒性和迁移性,对环境的影响与铬废渣相似。目前已经开发出许多技术用于铬污染土壤的修复,包括吸附、氧化还原、微生物修复、固化稳定和电动修复等方法[3-11]
电动修复法是近年发展起来的一种颇具潜力的土壤原位修复技术,安全、有效且经济高效,特别适用于低渗透性、多相不均匀、大颗粒和小颗粒的土壤介质[7-14]。电动修复法在污染土壤两侧施加直流电压形成电场,根据污染物所带电荷性质(阳性或阴性)以及孔隙流体流动方向,污染物向阳极或阴极转移,聚集在电极附近的污染物通过电镀处理或抽取到地面上进行处理,从而清洁污染土壤[10-18]
在电动修复过程中,污染物主要通过电迁移、电渗流和电泳等方式迁移出土壤[10-14];土壤中重金属离子主要通过电迁移方式迁移出土壤[12-18]。由于pH值影响土壤中重金属离子的吸附-解吸和沉淀-溶解,土壤酸化还会增加有毒金属的解吸,因此合理控制土壤pH值是提升电动修复效果的关键之一,尤其是控制阴极电解出的氢氧根浓度[18-21]
湖南以“有色金属之乡”著称于世,但有色金属开采、冶炼与加工过程导致的大量重金属污染亟待整治[22]。本文通过研究湖南工业厂区及周边环境铬污染特征,建立铬污染土壤电动修复实验平台,考察阴极pH值及增强剂对电动修复铬污染土壤的影响。
实验所用污泥样品取自湖南湘乡城西老工业区五矿铁合金有限责任公司(以下简称“湖铁”)东排污口。湖铁自1962年投产以来堆存工业固体废弃物累计95.68万吨,其中铬浸出渣19万吨。铬渣为金属铬及铬盐生产中所产生的固体废物,具有长期潜在性危害。该地区土壤以亚砂土为主,且Cr总量高,污染程度严重,Cr在土壤中主要以Cr(Ⅲ)和Cr(Ⅵ)形式存在[22]
土壤预处理:将所取污泥样品放入塑料容器中,加水搅拌制成均匀混合泥浆,取上层清液放入样品壶中,并取样测定清液样品中Cr、Fe、Mn、Pb及Zn含量。再将上面的静置泥浆清液清理完毕,将剩余下部污泥装入设计好的电动修复实验装置,并用保鲜膜对装置和剩余污泥进行密封,防止水分蒸发,同时取样测定污泥中Cr、Fe、Mn、Pb、Zn含量及含水率,结果见表1
实验所用EDTA、柠檬酸、KCl、HCl、NaOH、Na2CO3、磷酸缓冲溶液、硝酸溶液等均购自阿拉丁试剂(上海)有限公司,均为实验纯试剂。
实验装置如图1所示。第一组采用不控制阴极pH值的方法进行电动修复,以有机玻璃为材料制成尺寸为长×宽×高为20 cm×10 cm×10 cm的反应器作为土壤室,土壤室两侧是两个等容量的电极室(长×宽×高为5 cm×10 cm×10 cm),土壤室与电极室通过滤纸进行隔离。第二组采用控制阴极pH值的方法进行电动修复,同样采用有机玻璃制成长×宽×高为20 cm×5 cm×6 cm的反应器作为土壤室,两侧为两个等容量的电极室(长×宽×高为5 cm×5 cm×6 cm),土壤室与电极室之间用0.45 μm聚四氟乙烯微孔滤膜隔离,电极室之间为土壤室,阴极采用蠕动泵循环加入电解液来控制pH值。
反应机理如图2所示。通过在污染土壤两侧施加直流电压形成电场,重金属离子根据所带电荷性质不同,以电迁移的方式向阳极或阴极迁移。
不控制阴极pH值实验(第一组)设计3个处理组,E1组为空白对照实验,E2组为向土壤中添加EDTA,E3组为向土壤中添加柠檬酸,其中E2组和E3组在电动修复开始前分别用EDTA和柠檬酸饱和预处理24 h。整个电动修复过程采用不间断电动修复,初始电压设置为40.0 V,电流强度为0.03 A。在设计的固定时间周期(5 d)取样分析样品中Cr含量。电极全部采用石墨电极,电解液选用0.1 mol/L的KCl。修复完成后,将装置内的土壤从阴极室到阳极室分成均等的5部分,并分别标记为S1、S2、S3、S4、S5。同时将电动修复的阴阳极电解液收集并测定其中总Cr含量(Cr(T))和Cr(Ⅵ)含量。
控制阴极pH值实验(第二组)E4组和E5组阴极电极选用铁板,阳极电极选用钌铱镀层钛电极,初始电压设置为40.0 V,电流强度为0.03 A,修复时间均为7 d。电动修复试验开始前先将铬污染土壤用前述方法处理并装入土壤槽中压实。在室温下进行试验前,要使用0.01 mol/L KCl电解液对土柱进行24 h饱和处理,随后按照试验设计分别加入不同组分的阴极电解液(0.5 mol/L柠檬酸(E4组)和0.1 mol/L盐酸(E5组))、阳极电解液(均为0.01 mol/L KCl),采用蠕动泵循环加入阴极电解液,通入直流电测定电流和电渗流的变化。试验结束后,将土柱分成每部分长2.4 cm的7部分,依次标记为S1、S2、S3、S4、S5、S6和S7,并测定每部分土壤和收集的阴阳极电解液的Cr(T)、Cr(Ⅵ)含量、pH值。
参照常规方法[20-21]测定土壤的基本理化性质。采用pH计(上海雷磁仪器,型号pHS-3B)测定土壤pH值,采用EC计(上海雷磁仪器,型号DDS-11A)测定EC值,土水比为1∶2.5。采用HF-HClO4-HNO3硝化,硝化液用Hitachi Z-2000原子吸收分光光度计(日本,日立)测定土壤重金属含量。采用美国EPA Method 3060A法测定土壤中Cr(Ⅵ)含量。
电动修复过程中,阳极产生氢离子会造成靠近阳极土壤pH值降低,阴极产生氢氧根离子会造成靠近阴极土壤pH值升高。图3记录了电动修复处理前后土壤各截面的pH值。
E2组和E3组土壤因经EDTA或柠檬酸饱和处理过,各部分pH值均低于空白组E1。土壤中加入的各种络合剂和有机酸可以中和电解产生的氢氧根离子或与重金属产生络合作用增强其溶解度,从而避免重金属在阴极附近形成沉淀,一定程度上抑制了土壤pH值的大幅上升,但从阳极到阴极土壤的pH值仍总体处于上升趋势,逐渐趋于弱碱性。
E4组和E5组分别通过在阴极电解液中循环添加柠檬酸或盐酸,成功控制了阴极处土壤的pH值,土壤各部分pH值均小于初始值7.44,且E4组中土壤各截面土壤pH值均高于E5组,这是因为E4组阴极所使用的电解液为柠檬酸(弱酸),而E5组中所使用的是盐酸(强酸),盐酸中和碱的能力明显强于柠檬酸,E5组中土壤各截面pH值均较低。
电动修复过程中有部分能量会被浪费在土壤盐分迁移、热效应和阴阳极电解液的电解反应中,考察电动修复的能量损耗及其能量利用效率也是电动修复技术是否可行和能否大面积推广的重要因素之一。两组实验在电动修复过程中的电流和能耗变化见图4。由图4可见,两组实验的电流和能耗变化趋势大致相似,说明控制阴极pH值不会增加能耗。
在恒压电动修复中,电流值与溶液中存在的可溶性离子的数量成正比,图4表明Cr污染土壤在电动修复过程中电流值的变化趋势为先上升后降低,随着时间延长,电流值不断下降并趋于平衡。结合图3分析可知,这是由于在电动修复初始阶段,一些可溶性离子在电场作用下发生迁移,且迁移的离子数量在酸性条件下增多,电流值上升;随着电动修复进行到中后期,土壤中pH值升高会导致部分离子发生沉淀,可溶性离子数量减少,电流值降低。其中,E3组电流强度较大,因为柠檬酸是三元酸,pH值较低,致使柠檬酸处理的土壤中离子大量进入土壤溶液中,从而使其电流强度较大;E5组因控制阴极pH值始终在较低范围,离子更易进入土壤溶液中,所以电流强度最高。
修复初期累计耗能随时间推移递增,后期递增趋势渐趋平缓。这显然与修复电流密切相关,修复期间较高的电流使累计能耗增加,而在电流相对稳定的时期,累计能耗倾向于减少。
Cr(Ⅲ)在电场作用下向阴极迁移,而Cr(Ⅵ)在土壤中常以阴离子形式存在,也可通过电迁移向阳极移动。土壤各截面Cr(T)浓度及Cr(Ⅵ)浓度见图5。E2组和E3组处理中,靠近阴极部分的土壤总Cr浓度较高,其他部分变化不明显。而在靠近阴极部分Cr(Ⅵ)浓度降低,可能是在阴极酸性条件下Cr(Ⅵ)被还原为Cr(Ⅲ),Cr(Ⅲ)向阳极的迁移却并不明显。E2、E3组中Cr的迁移规律相似,总Cr和Cr(Ⅵ)均有从阴极迁移到阳极的趋势。
控制阴极pH值时,E4组电动修复过程中土壤各截面中Cr(T)浓度降低幅度较小;E5组土壤中各截面Cr(T)浓度除S1外变化不大。但土壤中各截面Cr(Ⅵ)含量差异显著,E4组截面S1~S3中Cr(Ⅵ)浓度明显高于S4~S7各截面,靠近阳极附近区域土壤中Cr(Ⅵ)浓度显著高于阴极附近的,说明土壤中Cr(Ⅵ)主要向阳极迁移。有研究表明,Cr(Ⅵ)在土壤中主要以Cr2O72-和CrO42-形式存在,因此其主要往阳极迁移。E5组各截面靠阳极区域中Cr(Ⅵ)浓度几乎无差异,均在2.4 mg/kg左右,而靠近阴极区域部分Cr(Ⅵ)浓度6.01 mg/kg左右,阴极区Cr(Ⅵ)浓度高于阳极区,这与E4组相反,说明在阳极电解液相同时,阴极电解液的选择对于Cr(Ⅵ)的迁移具有重要影响。E4组阳极区附近Cr(Ⅵ)浓度还高于初始值,这是由于阴极区Cr(Ⅵ)向阳极区转移,同时可能存在土壤中Cr(Ⅲ)转变为Cr(Ⅵ)的情况,由于柠檬酸电离能力较弱,其电动修复电流明显低于E5组,因此电动修复7 d后E4组还未达到其反应和修复终点。结果表明,柠檬酸对土壤中Cr(Ⅵ)的去除率高于盐酸。
电动修复完成后,土壤中Mn从阳极到阴极的浓度分布如图6所示。E4组在电动修复过程中存在比较明显的偏极效应,S6区域Mn含量很高,S5和S7区域Mn含量次之,且在土壤表层有明显的白色和黑色沉淀物,说明从阳极区转移过来的锰离子有部分在该区域与氢氧根反应生成沉淀物。修复后Mn的平均浓度为620 mg/kg,相比于初始值824 mg/kg仅降低了24.8%。E5组在电动修复过程中则避免了明显的偏极效应,Mn含量从S1区域到S7区域逐渐增高,而且相对于初始值有了很大幅度降低,修复后土壤的平均Mn浓度为192 mg/kg,相比于初始值824 mg/kg降低了76.7%。
电动修复后各实验组的总Cr去除率如图7所示。由图7可知,EDTA对总Cr的去除效果优于柠檬酸,EDTA和柠檬酸加入后总Cr去除率相对于E1组提高了1.72倍和1.59倍。E5组盐酸对土壤中总Cr的去除率为44.2%,相当于E1组的4.9倍;采用盐酸作增强剂总Cr去除率效果明显优于柠檬酸。因为土壤中Cr主要以Cr(Ⅲ)形式存在,盐酸能有效阻止土壤中Cr(Ⅲ)在碱性环境下生成Cr(OH)3沉淀;盐酸为强酸,其电流强度明显高于柠檬酸,修复更快。
电动修复后电解液中总Cr量见图8。电动修复时,在电场作用下土壤中的Cr会进入阴阳极电解液。由图8可见,相比于对照组E1,E2和E3组阴阳极电解液中总Cr量增高了,且随着EDTA或柠檬酸的加入,明显增强了Cr向阴阳极电解液的迁移。通过对比阴阳极中土壤总Cr量变化可知,EDTA对Cr的螯合作用高于柠檬酸。
阴极电解液不断稀释使得阳极电解液总铬浓度高于阴极电解液,但阴极电解液的总铬量明显大于阳极电解液。柠檬酸或盐酸的加入明显增强了Cr向阴极电解液的迁移,能有效阻止阴极区域Cr发生沉淀作用,提高总Cr去除率。E5组的总Cr去除率明显高于E4组。
通过控制阴极pH值的方法对铬污染土壤进行电动修复,得出以下结论:
1)EDTA、柠檬酸和盐酸增强剂能显著促进土壤中总Cr的去除,添加EDTA对总Cr去除率(24.47%)略高于柠檬酸(23.24%),但随着电动修复时间增长,不采取pH值控制措施会发生比较明显的偏极效应。
2)控制阴极pH值能有效阻止阴极区域Cr发生沉淀作用,提高Cr去除率,且控制阴极pH值不会显著增加能耗。添加盐酸作增强剂时总Cr去除率达到44.2%,高于柠檬酸作增强剂时的36.8%,说明盐酸对土壤中铬的迁移作用和去除效率强于柠檬酸。
3)在初始电压为40.0 V、电流强度0.3 A、电解液采用0.01 mol/L KCl、阴极电解液循环添加0.1 mol/L HCl控制阴极pH值避免偏极效应的条件下,不间断电动修复7 d后,土壤中Mn含量降低了76.7%;相较于空白电动修复E1组,E5组总Cr去除率提升了3.9倍。该法大幅提升了总Cr去除率,对重金属污染土壤的修复具有指导意义。
