A two-step acid leaching process was used to leach scandium and yttrium from red mud. Phosphoric acid was used in the first stage of leaching to achieve dealkalization, desilication and enrichment of rare earth elements (scandium and yttrium). Then, the leaching residue was leached with sulfuric acid in the second stage. The effects of sulfuric acid concentration, liquid-solid ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time on the leaching process of scandium and yttrium were investigated, and the leaching kinetics was also analyzed. It is found that leaching of red mud with phosphoric acid can bring better dealkalization and desilication effect, showing the leaching rates of K, Na and Si at 75.62%, 87.82% and 80.25%, respectively. Then, in the second stage of leaching process with sulfuric acid concentration of 2.5 mol/L and liquid-solid ratio of 7∶1, reaction runs at 70 ℃ for 45 min, leading to the average leaching rates of Sc and Y up to 74.49% and 80.02%, respectively. It is shown that the leaching processes of Sc and Y with sulfuric acid follow the liquid-solid reaction model, which is controlled by diffusion, and the apparent reaction activation energies are calculated to be 18.50 kJ/mol and 16.74 kJ/mol, respectively.

采用两步酸浸法浸出赤泥中的钪和钇,用磷酸对赤泥进行一段酸浸,实现脱碱和脱硅并富集稀土金属钪、钇;用硫酸对磷酸浸出渣进行二段酸浸,考察了硫酸浓度、液固比、反应温度、反应时间对钪、钇浸出过程的影响,并进行了浸出动力学分析。结果表明,赤泥经磷酸浸出后,脱碱和脱硅效果较好,K、Na、Si浸出率分别为75.62%、87.82%、80.25%;在硫酸浓度2.5 mol/L、液固比7∶1、反应温度70 ℃、反应时间45 min条件下进行二段硫酸浸出,Sc、Y平均浸出率分别为74.49%、80.02%。Sc和Y的硫酸浸出过程均符合多相液固区域反应模型,受扩散控制,表观反应活化能分别为18.50 kJ/mol和16.74 kJ/mol。

A two-step acid leaching process was used to leach scandium and yttrium from red mud. Phosphoric acid was used in the first stage of leaching to achieve dealkalization, desilication and enrichment of rare earth elements (scandium and yttrium). Then, the leaching residue was leached with sulfuric acid in the second stage. The effects of sulfuric acid concentration, liquid-solid ratio, reaction temperature and reaction time on the leaching process of scandium and yttrium were investigated, and the leaching kinetics was also analyzed. It is found that leaching of red mud with phosphoric acid can bring better dealkalization and desilication effect, showing the leaching rates of K, Na and Si at 75.62%, 87.82% and 80.25%, respectively. Then, in the second stage of leaching process with sulfuric acid concentration of 2.5 mol/L and liquid-solid ratio of 7∶1, reaction runs at 70 ℃ for 45 min, leading to the average leaching rates of Sc and Y up to 74.49% and 80.02%, respectively. It is shown that the leaching processes of Sc and Y with sulfuric acid follow the liquid-solid reaction model, which is controlled by diffusion, and the apparent reaction activation energies are calculated to be 18.50 kJ/mol and 16.74 kJ/mol, respectively.

赤泥是氧化铝生产过程中产生的废渣,其产量大、碱性强、环境危害大[1]。赤泥中富含稀土元素,如钪和钇。稀土元素被列为我国战略性关键金属[2],从赤泥中提取稀土元素具有重要意义。
赤泥中Fe、Al、Si等含量远高于稀土元素Sc和Y,加之赤泥碱性强,直接酸浸提取稀土元素不仅会消耗大量试剂,并且会导致Fe、Al等大量杂质离子共溶,造成后续进一步分离Sc、Y困难[3]。此外,赤泥在酸浸过程中容易形成胶状硅酸,影响混合液的固液分离,降低Sc、Y浸出率;同时,浸出液中硅酸的存在对Sc、Y的萃取过程也有很大影响,容易产生乳化现象[4]。本文针对赤泥碱性强、赤泥酸浸提取Sc和Y过程中产生硅酸等问题,以磷酸-硫酸两步酸浸法浸出赤泥中的Sc和Y,并分析其浸出过程动力学,为从赤泥中酸浸回收Sc和Y提供新思路。
实验原料为广西平果某铝厂拜耳法赤泥,经烘干、研磨、0.125 mm筛网过筛后得到实验原料,其主要成分见表1,XRD图谱见图1。从图1可知,赤泥原料主要物相为赤铁矿、硬水铝石和加藤石等。
主要设备包括X射线衍射仪(XRD)、电感耦合等离子体发射光谱仪(ICP-OES)、水浴恒温振荡器等。
采用磷酸和硫酸先后浸出赤泥,将赤泥中的稀土元素钪、钇富集和浸出。主要反应如下:

采取两步酸浸的方法浸出稀土元素。一段酸浸将赤泥原料置于锥形瓶中,按实验设定的参数加入磷酸,混匀后放置于已设定好水浴振荡时间、温度、转速的恒温水浴振荡器中,达到设定时间后,立即取出进行固液分离和定容,采用ICP-OES测定滤液中钪、钇、铁和铝的含量,计算钪、钇、铁和铝的浸出率;滤渣经烘箱烘干后采用XRD测定其物相组成。二段酸浸取一段酸浸滤渣,按设计参数取定量硫酸进行酸浸,其方法与一段酸浸相同。
式中XM为金属M(代表Sc、Y、Fe、Al)浸出率,%;m0为赤泥质量,g;m为浸出渣质量,g;wM为浸出渣中M的含量,%;wM为赤泥中M的含量,%。
先采用磷酸浸出赤泥原料,前期探究了磷酸浓度、液固比、反应温度与反应时间对赤泥原料脱碱和脱硅效果,得到磷酸浸出赤泥的适宜条件为:磷酸浓度1 mol/L、液固比10∶1、反应温度30 ℃、反应时间20 min,在该条件下,各金属离子浸出情况及浸出渣分析结果分别如表2表3所示。赤泥磷酸浸出过程中,二氧化硅容易在酸性溶液中形成硅胶,增大赤泥黏度,影响后续Sc和Y的分离[5]。由表2可知,K、Na、Si元素大量浸出,浸出率分别为75.62%、87.82%、80.25%,赤泥脱硅和脱碱效果较好;Sc、Y浸出率较低。由表3可知,经过磷酸酸浸后,浸出渣中Sc含量相比原赤泥提高了50.00%,Y含量提高了54.37%。
对磷酸浸出渣进行了XRD分析,结果见图2。赤泥原料中Si主要存在于加藤石、钙霞石、叶蜡石中,Na主要存在于钙霞石中。由图2可知,与赤泥原料相比,赤泥磷酸浸出渣中加藤石含量减少,钙霞石、叶蜡石全部溶解,可知赤泥中的Si和Na已被大量去除。另外,赤铁矿、钙钛矿等矿物未溶解。文献[6]研究发现磷酸可将硅酸盐转化为H4SiO4,与Na2O形成可溶性磷酸盐,并且保持溶液的pH值高于Sc2O3的溶解pH值,使Sc在浸出渣中富集。磷酸可以达到选择性去除Si等杂质元素并富集Sc、Y等稀土元素的目的,有利于后续对赤泥中Sc、Y的进一步浸出。
以一段磷酸浸出渣为原料,反应温度80 ℃、反应时间60 min、液固比7∶1(mL/g)条件下,硫酸浓度对各金属离子浸出率的影响如图3所示。由图3可知,Y较容易从赤泥中浸出,在较低的硫酸浓度下,Y浸出率就可以稳定在75%以上。Sc、Fe和Al的浸出率均随着硫酸浓度增大而增加,其中Sc浸出率增加较为明显。
硫酸浓度较低时,溶液中H+浓度较低,和赤泥中的稀土氧化物反应不完全,随着硫酸浓度增加,溶液中H+浓度增加,和赤泥中的稀土氧化物反应更充分,钪和钇浸出率随之提高[7]。另外,铁浸出率虽然逐渐增加,但始终在10%以下。综合考虑,适宜的硫酸浓度为2.5 mol/L。
硫酸浓度2.5 mol/L,其他条件不变,液固比对各金属离子浸出率的影响如图4所示。由图4可知,随着液固比升高,Sc、Y、Al和Fe浸出率变化不大,其中Fe浸出率始终保持在10%以下。提高液固比有利于赤泥和溶液充分接触,且使溶液黏度降低,提高Sc和Y的浸出效率[8]。考虑到酸耗以及赤泥与酸的充分混合,选择液固比7∶1。
液固比7∶1,其他条件不变,反应温度对各金属离子浸出率的影响如图5所示。由图5可知,Sc、Y、Al浸出率均随温度升高而增加,钪和钇的浸出反应分别在60 ℃、70 ℃时逐渐达到平衡,此时钪和钇浸出率分别为73.65%和78.87%;铝浸出率在40~90 ℃不断增加,区间内浸出率增长了20%左右。温度升高,溶液中离子移动速度加快,在相同条件下H+可以更快到达反应物表面并与其中的矿物发生反应,各金属浸出率提高[9]。铁浸出率始终维持在较低水平。综合考虑,选择反应温度70 ℃。
反应温度70 ℃,其他条件不变,反应时间对各金属离子浸出率的影响如图6所示。由图6可知,各金属离子浸出率随反应时间增加而增加,反应时间45 min时,Sc和Y浸出率分别为74.49%和80.02%,此后,Sc和Y浸出率增长幅度变小。反应时间60 min后,Fe和Al浸出率增长幅度变小。因此,适当延长浸出时间,可以使赤泥与硫酸的接触和反应更充分,使金属离子浸出率更高。考虑到硫酸对杂质离子的选择性浸出效果,选择反应时间45 min。
综合以上研究,确定适宜的硫酸浸出条件为:硫酸浓度2.5 mol/L、液固比7∶1、浸出温度70 ℃、浸出时间45 min,在该条件下进行5组重复实验,Sc、Y、Fe、Al平均浸出率分别为74.49%、80.02%、7.70%、33.99%。对硫酸浸出渣进行了XRD物相分析,结果见图7。对比图2图7可知,硫酸浸出渣中主要有赤铁矿、假板钛矿、硬水铝石、钙钛矿等。赤泥中的稀土元素部分赋存于赤铁矿、针铁矿、钙钛矿等矿物质中[2]图7中赤铁矿和钙钛矿衍射峰依然存在,且峰强度增加,说明这两种矿物在该实验条件下只发生少量分解,赋存于该矿物中的稀土元素并未浸出。因此要进一步提升钪、钇浸出率,就无法避免钪、钇和铁大量共浸出的情况,对钪的分离提纯变得困难。同时硫酸与Ca2+生成了CaSO4与CaSO4·2H2O。CaSO4结构非常致密,赤泥颗粒被CaSO4覆盖后,Sc和Y的浸出会变得更加困难,甚至CaSO4形成过程也会与稀土离子形成共沉淀,不利于稀土浸出[10]
赤泥中钪、钇的硫酸浸出属于多相液固反应,主要包括扩散、吸附和化学反应三个过程,一般分为以下阶段:①在赤泥硫酸混合液中,硫酸向赤泥矿粒表面扩散,与钪、钇等快速反应生成硫酸钪和硫酸钇,与钙接触反应生成难溶的硫酸钙;②产生的硫酸钙在赤泥矿粒表面积聚,对钪、钇离子有黏附作用,对硫酸向矿粒内部扩散形成阻碍,使硫酸与钪、钇反应速率下降;③硫酸钙在矿粒表面积累形成致密层,致使硫酸与钪、钇不能接触反应而达到平衡状态[11]
对于初期反应速率极快、随着反应时间延长反应速率逐渐减小的酸浸反应,通常采用多相液固区域反应模型进行动力学分析拟合[11]。该模型可用Avrami方程解释:
对式(9)进行两边取对数,得:
式中x为金属浸出率,%;k为反应速率常数,min-1t为反应时间,min;n为矿物晶粒性质和几何特性函数。
利用Arrhenius公式对反应速率常数k进行计算,可求出反应表观活化能Ea
式中k为Arrhenius表观反应常数,min-1Ea为表观活化能,kJ/mol;T为热力学温度,K;R为摩尔气体常数,8.314 J/(mol·K);A为频率因子,min-1
不同温度条件下赤泥中钪和钇在0~60 min内的浸出实验结果如图8图9所示。从图8图9可以看出,钪、钇浸出率随温度和时间增加而增大,前期浸出速率较大,随时间延长,形成硫酸钙与稀土元素离子共沉淀,反应速率逐渐减小,该特征与多相液固区域反应模型相符[12]
图8图9数据代入式(10),以ln(-ln(1-x))对lnt作图,得到动力学拟合曲线如图10图11所示,可知钪的浸出动力学拟合曲线相关系数均大于0.97,钇的浸出动力学拟合曲线相关系数均在0.96以上,两者的拟合相关性均较好,进一步判定赤泥中钪、钇的硫酸浸出过程符合液固区域反应模型[12]
表4列出了钪和钇拟合曲线的相关参数,可以看出钪、钇拟合曲线n值均小于0.3,初步判断为扩散控制[12]
根据图10图11,以lnk对1/(T×10-3)作图,得到钪、钇浸出的Arrihenius拟合曲线,见图12图13。由图12图13计算可知,钪、钇浸出过程的表观反应活化能分别为18.50 kJ/mol、16.74 kJ/mol,进一步证明浸出过程受扩散控制,浸出活化能较低,说明反应越容易进行。
1)赤泥一段磷酸浸出,脱碱和脱硅效果较好,K、Na和Si浸出率分别为75.62%、87.82%和80.25%;Sc、Y在酸浸渣中含量分别提高了50.00%和54.37%。
2)二段硫酸酸浸适宜条件为:硫酸浓度2.5 mol/L,液固比7∶1,反应温度70 ℃,反应时间45 min,钪和钇平均浸出率分别为74.49%和80.02%。
3)Sc、Y的硫酸浸出过程均符合多相液固区域反应模型,浸出反应受扩散控制,浸出过程的活化能分别为18.50 kJ/mol和16.74 kJ/mol。
