当前，是湖南省实现富民强省的关键时期，而实现这一目标必须依靠科技创新和创新人才。因此，培养创新人才不但是湖南省适应知识经济发展、全面建设小康社会与和谐湖南、提高人才队伍整体水平和推动民族文化文明进步的需要，同时也是实现富民强省的现实需要。而要想实现可持续发展，青少年创新人才储备作为创新人才的后续力量必须受到重视。针对青少年的科技教育作为培养后续创新人才的重要途径，在培养青少年创新精神和创新能力等方面具有不可替代的作用。然而，青少年科技教育也存在一些问题，要解决这些问题，就要从观念、领导、教育改革、资金、师资队伍、奖励机制等方面着手，努力加强青少年科技教育。
