The tacit knowledge theory of Micheal Polanyi is rich in connotation and extension. It is of great significance to understand the knowledge and technology that illustrates tacit root of articulating knowledge and the practical character of tacit knowledge. China's current agricultural technology popularization is facing dilemma, which are perceived evidently among the farmers and the science popularizers. From the perspective of epistemology, the lack of clear understanding of the essence of agricultural technology popularization is a major cause of the dilemma. In order to get out of the current “dilemma”, the following ideas can be used for reference: 1) Rethinking the three main subjects of agricultural technology popularization and their relation; 2) Fully recognizing the tacit attributes and priority of agricultural technology popularization; 3) The application of tacit knowledge in the development, promotion and acquisition of agricultural technology.

波兰尼的默会知识论已是为人熟知的理论，有着丰富的内涵和外延。其对蕴含在行动中的默会知识、言述知识的默会根源及默会知识的实践品格的阐论，对理解知识和技术的属性有着重要的启发意义。中国当前农业技术推广面临困境，这在农民与农技推广员方面都有鲜明体现。仅从认识论的层面来看，农技推广主体对农技推广的本质和规律没有清晰的认识可能是造成“困境”的一个重要原因。对于走出当前的“困境”，下述几点启示可供借鉴：（1）再思农技推广的三个主体部分及其关联；（2）充分认清农技推广的默会属性及其基础性与优先性；（3）在农技的研发、推广及习得中重视默会知识的运用。
