The paper conducted a clear definition and scope of popular science books, considering that the scope of popular science books are featured by intersection and ductility. According to the above-mentioned characteristics, popular science books are divided into three types: core science books, general science books and extensional science books. Meanwhile, the paper also views that the following problem are still in existence: effective statistical methods are still lacking, research topics are simply confined to book editing and publication, the same researchers only publish fewer papers, as well as international academic impact is comparatively lower, etc. In a nutshell, some suggestions are made for a sound development of science popularization.

本文通过对科普图书的定义、范畴进行界定和廓清后认为其范畴具有较大交叉性和延展性，并根据上述特性将科普图书分为核心科普、一般科普和泛科普三种类型。同时本文还对目前科普图书的统计及研究情况进行了梳理，指出在科普图书统计和研究方面存在缺乏有效的统计方法、研究主题局限于图书编辑出版、同一研究者发文量少、国际学术影响力偏低等问题。最后根据问题尝试提出了几点建议，旨在为政府相关部门制定政策提供参考，从而推动科普工作更快、更好地发展。
