The effects of flow control device on flow conditions of molten steel in tundish are studied with the method of physical simulation through establishing physical model of tundish for double-strand slab caster with geometric similarity ratio of 1∶4 based on the similarity principle. The results showed that the peak time and average retention time of molten steel in tundish were increased, volume of dead zone for molten steel in tundish was reduced due to the optimized flow control device was adopted by tundish of slab. The peak time of molten steel is increased by 240.98%, average retention time of molten steel is increased by 2.37% and volume of dead zone is reduced by 7.56%. As a result, the flow conditions of molten steel in tundish are optimized as well as collision, aggregation, floatation and removal of inclusions in tundish are promoted so that the cleanliness of molten steel is ensured.

依据相似原理,建立包钢双流板坯连铸机中间包几何相似比为1∶4的物理模型,采用物理模拟的方法研究控流装置对中间包内钢液流动状态的影响。结果表明,板坯中间包采用优化的控流装置,中间包内钢液的峰值时间和平均停留时间增加,中间包内钢液的死区体积降低,钢液的峰值时间增加比率为240.98%,钢液的平均停留时间增加比率为2.37%,死区体积减少了7.56%,优化了中间包内钢液的流动状态,促进夹杂物在中间包内碰撞、聚集、上浮、去除,保证了钢液的洁净度。

依据相似原理,建立包钢双流板坯连铸机中间包几何相似比为1∶4的物理模型,采用物理模拟的方法研究控流装置对中间包内钢液流动状态的影响。结果表明,板坯中间包采用优化的控流装置,中间包内钢液的峰值时间和平均停留时间增加,中间包内钢液的死区体积降低,钢液的峰值时间增加比率为240.98%,钢液的平均停留时间增加比率为2.37%,死区体积减少了7.56%,优化了中间包内钢液的流动状态,促进夹杂物在中间包内碰撞、聚集、上浮、去除,保证了钢液的洁净度。

The effects of flow control device on flow conditions of molten steel in tundish are studied with the method of physical simulation through establishing physical model of tundish for double-strand slab caster with geometric similarity ratio of 1∶4 based on the similarity principle. The results showed that the peak time and average retention time of molten steel in tundish were increased, volume of dead zone for molten steel in tundish was reduced due to the optimized flow control device was adopted by tundish of slab. The peak time of molten steel is increased by 240.98%, average retention time of molten steel is increased by 2.37% and volume of dead zone is reduced by 7.56%. As a result, the flow conditions of molten steel in tundish are optimized as well as collision, aggregation, floatation and removal of inclusions in tundish are promoted so that the cleanliness of molten steel is ensured.

钢液的洁净度是决定钢材质量的重要因素,钢液洁净度主要取决于钢液凝固前各工序的冶炼过程,中间包是钢液凝固前的关键控制环节。钢液的洁净度主要与钢中夹杂物的数量、形态有关,中间包内钢液流动状态和速度分布对钢水成分的均匀性及夹杂物上浮、聚集、去除有着重要的影响,合理的中间包流场有利于中间包去除夹杂物,从而减少夹杂物进入结晶器的数量,因此近年来关于夹杂物在中间包内的运动状态研究显著增多[1-2]。对一些高温液体的流动现象无法采用试验研究,物理模拟就是一种不可缺少的研究手段,通过物理模型可模拟或再现一个真实的描述系统,同时大大降低试验费用[3-4]
针对板坯连铸机中间包内钢液的流动状态,采用物理模拟的方法,研究不同控流装置对中间包内钢液的峰值时间、平均停留时间、死区等的影响,确定最优板坯连铸机中间包控流装置,促进夹杂物在中间包内碰撞、聚集、上浮、去除,保证钢液的洁净度。
中间包物理模拟通常采用水的流动来模拟中间包内钢液的流动,表1为水和钢液的物理性能。包钢双流板坯连铸机中间包内采用的湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝的尺寸如表2所示。根据相似理论,中间包内钢液的流动满足几何相似、运动相似和动力学相似,根据流动特性选择ReFr准数相等,从而保证模型和原型的相似。以包钢1#板坯双流连铸机中间包为原型,按照模型与原型1∶4的比例制作有机玻璃模型进行水模试验。针对中间包内钢液的流动状态,采用水模试验研究控流装置(湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝)对钢液流动状态的影响。
试验方法采用“刺激-响应”方法,该方法是在中间包入口处输入一个示踪剂作为刺激信号,然后在中间包出口处测量该输入信号的输出,从响应曲线得到流体在中间包内的停留时间分布,最后通过平均停留时间分布计算中间包内各区体积。共进行三个方案的对比分析,方案一为未采用控流装置,方案二为采用湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝,方案三为采用湍流控制器和调整的挡墙、挡坝。
图1为未采用控流装置时中间包内的钢液流动状态。通过加入染色示踪剂观察中间包内的流场和钢液流动的方向,分析不同控流装置对中间包流场的影响。由图1可知,钢水经过长水口直接进入到中间包底部,钢水沿中间包底面流向出口区域,部分钢液流向中间包表面,钢液在中间包混合后,流向出口。
图2为采用湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝中间包内的钢液流动状态。由图2可知,钢水经过长水口直接进入到湍流控制器,在湍流控制器内进行充分混合,钢水沿表面流到挡墙位置后,在挡墙区域内进行混合,混合后沿挡墙向下流,从挡墙和挡坝中间流向出口区域,在出口钢水向上流动到达自由液面后,在出口区域进行混合,最后流向浸入式水口。
对比未采用控流装置和采用湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝对中间包内钢液流动状态的影响,分析峰值时间和平均停留时间的变化情况。
图3图4图5为方案一、方案二和方案三的电导率曲线。由图3图4图5可知,方案一的电导率最大值为101 μS/cm,方案二的电导率最大值为63 μS/cm,方案三的电导率最大值为91 μS/cm,采用方案二钢液在中间包内混合的较好,可促进中间包内的夹杂物碰撞、聚集、上浮。
图6为不同控流装置对峰值时间的影响,图7为不同控流装置对平均停留时间的影响。由图6可知,方案一的峰值时间为61 s,方案二的峰值时间为208 s,延长了147 s,方案一的平均停留时间为422 s,方案二的平均停留时间为432 s,延长了10 s,钢液峰值时间增加比率为240.98%,钢液平均停留时间增加比率为2.37%,中间包采用挡墙+挡坝结构可延长峰值时间和平均停留时间。方案二和方案三相比,采用不同的挡墙+挡坝结构对峰值时间和平均停留时间影响相对较小。采用挡墙+挡坝结构使钢液在中间包内进行充分的混合,从而有利于夹杂物的上浮去除。
根据中间包的平均停留时间和峰值时间计算中间包的死区、活塞区、混合区,对比不同方案对死区体积的影响。
图8为方案一、方案二和方案三的死区、活塞区、混合区的计算结果。中间包内的死区体积由方案一的19.25%降低到方案二的11.69%,降低了7.56个百分点,方案三的死区体积为12.03%,与方案二的死区体积相当,死区体积的减小促进了中间包内夹杂物碰撞、聚集、上浮。
(1)通过在双流板坯连铸机中间包采用湍流控制器、挡墙、挡坝的控流装置,可以优化钢液的流动状态,有利于钢液在湍流控制器内和挡墙、挡坝区域内进行充分的混合,促进中间包内夹杂物碰撞、聚集、上浮。
(2)采用方案二控流装置,钢液的峰值时间增加比率为240.98%,钢液的平均停留时间增加比率为2.37%,死区体积减少了7.56个百分点。
