The naturally occurring radionuclides in the sinking particle, surface sediments, and sediment cores near the Weizhou Island in the Beibu Gulf were simultaneously analyzed by high purity germanium γ spectrometer in this study. The sinking particle at the west station of the Weizhou Island was mainly attributed to the strong sediment resuspension that was demonstrated by the combined evidences of 40K, 234Thex, 7Be, and 238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10 ternary diagram. Sediment accumulation rates(SAR)of two sediment cores(WZ16and WZ20)at the west stations of the Weizhou Island were calculated to be 1.46×10-3 and 2.25×10-3 cm/d using the constant flux and constant sedimentation rate model of excess 210Pb. These 210Pb derived-sediment accumulation rates were only 0.50% and 0.89% of the sediment sinking rates(295×10-3 and 252×10-3 cm/d)derived from sediment trap, quantitatively indicating strong sediment resuspension before the ultimate burial in sediment. Additionally, a high recruitment of coral larvae was observed at the west station with strong sediment resuspension. It was speculated that the strong biogenic sediment resuspension would provide sufficient heterotrophic energy for coral polyps.

利用高纯锗γ谱仪对北部湾涠洲岛珊瑚礁区的沉降物、表层沉积物、柱状沉积物中多种放射性核素开展联合分析.在利用40K、颗粒活性核素234Thex7Be以及238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10三角图解等多核素示踪手段共同证实涠洲岛西侧沉降物来源于表层沉积物再悬浮的基础上,联合使用过剩210Pb的恒定通量恒定沉积速率模式定量计算了涠洲岛西侧海域两柱样(WZ16和WZ20)沉积速率分别为1.46×10-3和2.25×10-3cm/d,该结果仅为相邻站位沉降速率(295×10-3和252×10-3cm/d)的0.50%和0.89%,表明99%以上的沉降物会经历多次强烈的再悬浮过程,最终才能埋藏进入沉积柱样.此外,本研究发现具有较高沉降通量的涠洲岛西侧珊瑚礁区仍有较高的珊瑚幼体补充量,推测是由于强烈的生源沉积物再悬浮为珊瑚虫提供了丰富的异养能量来源.

The naturally occurring radionuclides in the sinking particle, surface sediments, and sediment cores near the Weizhou Island in the Beibu Gulf were simultaneously analyzed by high purity germanium γ spectrometer in this study. The sinking particle at the west station of the Weizhou Island was mainly attributed to the strong sediment resuspension that was demonstrated by the combined evidences of 40K, 234Thex, 7Be, and 238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10 ternary diagram. Sediment accumulation rates(SAR)of two sediment cores(WZ16and WZ20)at the west stations of the Weizhou Island were calculated to be 1.46×10-3 and 2.25×10-3 cm/d using the constant flux and constant sedimentation rate model of excess 210Pb. These 210Pb derived-sediment accumulation rates were only 0.50% and 0.89% of the sediment sinking rates(295×10-3 and 252×10-3 cm/d)derived from sediment trap, quantitatively indicating strong sediment resuspension before the ultimate burial in sediment. Additionally, a high recruitment of coral larvae was observed at the west station with strong sediment resuspension. It was speculated that the strong biogenic sediment resuspension would provide sufficient heterotrophic energy for coral polyps.

珊瑚礁是海洋中重要的生态系统,为许多海洋生物提供了赖以生存的环境.受气候变化和人类活动的影响,全球范围内的珊瑚礁在2009~2018年消失了14%,超过了目前澳大利亚所有的珊瑚礁之和[1].我国南海的珊瑚礁覆盖度也在近50a来下降了接近80%[2],其中位于北部湾海域的涠洲岛珊瑚礁平均活珊瑚覆盖度从1984年的50%退化至2015年的6%[3].
海洋中的悬浮物和泥沙沉降是影响珊瑚生长的重要因素[4].陆地来源的沉降物会携带多种污染物损害珊瑚的健康[5],高浊度的海水会抑制珊瑚共生虫黄藻的光合作用[6],高沉降通量的沉降物也会造成珊瑚窒息死亡等[7].而部分研究则发现生源沉降物中的有机组分能给珊瑚提供异养营养的能量[8],碳酸盐组分也能为珊瑚虫提供钙化的材料[9].因此,沉降物的物质组成、沉降通量等是造成其对珊瑚生长影响有所差异的关键因素,也是目前珊瑚礁生态保护领域研究的热点话题[10-14].
针对珊瑚礁区沉降颗粒物的研究中,宋金明等[15]在1998年首次报道利用沉积物捕捉器收集南沙群岛珊瑚礁潟湖中的沉降颗粒物,分析其中主要元素通量,并发现有部分元素可通过再循环进入水体;赵美霞等[16]利用沉降物捕集器收集海南三亚鹿回头珊瑚岸礁区的礁坡沉降物,同时利用高温灼烧、酸碱溶液分离和X射线衍射分析矿物等手段对沉降物来源进行分析;Godiva等[17]收集近海珊瑚表面的沉积物并测量其中放射性核素、矿物质和稀土元素含量,利用232Th、238U和40K的活度分布以及多种地球化学指标聚类分析追溯珊瑚礁区物质的来源.
珊瑚礁区沉积物拥有极低的放射性核素活度水平(等当量镭指数仅为3.97Bq/kg,不到全球土壤平均值的5%)和特殊的核素指纹特征(低226Ra/238U活度比值),这是由于珊瑚虫生长和钙化形成珊瑚骨骼过程中对不同放射性核素的吸收富集机制不同,珊瑚骨骼破碎形成的珊瑚礁区沉积物保留了珊瑚骨骼中放射性核素的活度特征[18-21].因此,放射性核素是海洋珊瑚礁区很好的示踪剂,同时也可应用于构建地质年代学[22]、指示沉积与再悬浮过程[23]等研究.目前,珊瑚礁区放射性核素的相关研究仍比较匮乏,且主要为对物质来源进行示踪的定性研究,缺少定量研究.因此,本研究系统采集北部湾涠洲岛周边海域珊瑚礁区的沉降物(sinking particles)、表层沉积物(surface sediments)以及柱状沉积物(sediment cores),在利用多种核素示踪技术共同验证珊瑚礁区沉降物来源的基础上,将不同时间尺度的沉降物沉降速率与沉积柱沉积速率进行对比,定量沉积与再悬浮过程.同时调查相应站位的珊瑚幼体补充量,分析海洋再悬浮对珊瑚礁的影响,为珊瑚礁资源保护提供借鉴与帮助.
于2021年10月24日~11月17日利用沉降物采集装置(图1)在涠洲岛周围海域采集8个站位的海洋沉降物(图2).通过水肺潜水作业方式定点放置底部密封的PVC管,并保证PVC管垂直于调查底面,PVC管放置20d后将顶部密封好带回实验室分析.两个沉积柱样分别于2016年和2020年在涠洲岛西侧海域采集,采集8个站位的表层沉积物样品,所有样品均使用冰箱冷冻保存并带回实验室.进行分析前,先取出样品解冻并剔除贝壳、砂砾等杂物,再使用烘箱以60℃烘至恒重.烘干后的沉降物研磨过筛(100~150目),取20g沉积物粉末装盒密封.
利用HPGe-γ谱仪(Canberra BE6530)对所有样品中的放射性核素活度进行测量.沉积物样品密封后静置30d,使其中226Ra及其子体核素达到平衡状态后再进行测量.210Pb的活度选择46.5keV的峰面积来计算,228Ra选择其子体228Ac(911.1keV)的γ全能峰进行计算,226Ra采用其子体214Pb(351.9keV)和214Bi(609.3keV)能量峰进行分析,40K选择1460.8keV的能量峰计算.放射性核素的活度(A)和不确定度(δA)分别由式(1)和式(2)计算.
式中:n-Tn-0分别代表核素对应的γ全能峰的样品净计数率和仪器本底净计数率;n-GTn-G0分别代表样品谱图中核素γ全能峰的总计数率和本底计数率;λ代表衰变常数;εm分别代表相对探测效率和样品质量;t-1t-0分别代表测量时刻和采样时刻;T代表仪器的测量时间.不确定度主要来源于衰变过程中γ粒子计数统计涨落,并用1个标准差(1δ)展示.
仪器设备:25cm×25cm样方框,并以5cm为单位标记.水下数码照相机,水下闪光灯,100m皮尺.
野外照片采集:按照调查站位,平行于岸方向布设调查样带皮尺100m,保证深度一致.潜水员水下数码相机和样方框沿样带两侧寻找造礁石珊瑚幼体(小于5cm)珊瑚群落,并布放样方框进行拍照.每条样带拍摄样方照片50张.
室内判读:将拍摄照片在电脑上进行放大,统计小于5cm珊瑚群落,并依据拍摄样方总个数和面积计算珊瑚幼体补充量,计算公式如下:
式中:S代表样方框的面积,m2Cs为样方框内小于5cm的造礁珊瑚个体/群落数量,ind;Cr代表造礁珊瑚幼体补充量,ind/m2.
本研究使用Excel对数据进行整理,放射性核素活度分布特征、三角图解、衰变拟合以及核素关系拟合等图均使用Origin2018进行绘制.采样站位图从标准地图服务系统(http://bzdt.ch.mnr.gov.cn/)下载并使用ArcGIS10.2进行绘制,同时使用ArcGIS10.2将各站位沉降物沉降速率及沉积柱沉积速率利用柱状图表示在地图上,利于相邻地理位置上的对比.
将涠洲岛沉降物的站位按照地理位置划分为东西南北4个区域,公山、牛栏山位于东侧,湾仔和猪仔位于南侧,茅寮、滴水和南油位于西侧,北港位于北侧.4个区域沉降物中放射性核素的活度如图3所示,总体而言,涠洲岛沉降物中238U、226Ra、228Ra活度水平较为接近,而西侧沉降物中40K活度水平(81.7~214.8Bq/kg)显著低于东、南、北3侧沉降物(243.6~403.9Bq/kg),推测西侧沉降物主要来源于珊瑚礁区表层沉积物的再悬浮.珊瑚岸礁区的沉降物可分为陆源组分和海洋生源组分,陆源组分包含大量钾长石、伊利石等矿物[16],矿物中含有较高的K元素,也导致陆源沉降物中有较高的40K活度(~400Bq/kg)[24].沉降物中的海洋生源组分主要由珊瑚礁区生源沉积物的再悬浮形成,珊瑚礁系统中造礁生物对海水中不同放射性核素的富集能力不同(例如,对40K的富集能力较低),吸收放射性核素进入珊瑚骨骼后,珊瑚死亡破碎风化形成的沉积物拥有极低的40K活度水平[25],如南海环礁海域沉积物中40K活度仅为4.90Bq/kg[19],涠洲岛珊瑚礁区属于岸礁,测得其表层沉积物中40K活度范围为9.38~127.42Bq/kg.因此,涠洲岛东、南、北三侧沉降物属于陆源物质的输入,西侧沉降物主要来源于珊瑚礁区表层沉积物的再悬浮.
238U、232Th、40K均属于原生放射性核素,半衰期均超过1亿a,在地壳中含量均较为稳定,其核素活度分布特征可用于指示沉积物的来源[26].当沉积物中核素达平衡状态时,其中的232Th活度与其子体228Ra活度相等.基于这3种放射性核素的特点,本文以238U、232Th(228Ra)活度和40K/10为3个端元,建立238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10三角图解,可对沉积物的来源进行解析[27].本研究进一步将238U-232Th(228Ra)- 40K/10三角图解应用于对涠洲岛沉降物及表层沉积物的来源解析,结果如图4所示.
238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10三角图解中,珊瑚礁区沉积物具有显著区别于非珊瑚礁区沉积物的特征,总体表现为高238U,低232Th(228Ra)和低40K/10.涠洲岛表层沉积物为珊瑚礁区沉积物,因此主要集中于三角图中的左下角蓝色虚线区域.涠洲岛沉降物的来源相对复杂,主要分为陆源物质的输入和珊瑚礁区表层沉积物的再悬浮.陆源物质中放射性核素的活度特征有别于珊瑚礁生源物质,总体表现为较低238U、较高232Th(228Ra)和较高40K/10(位于三角图的中间区域)[27].涠洲岛沉降物(除西侧)中较多的陆源物质使其在三角图中位于中间区域,与中国土壤在238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/ 10三角图解的分布位置相近,而西侧沉降物在三角图中的位置介于珊瑚礁区沉积物和陆源沉降物之间,这是由于西侧沉降物中的珊瑚礁表层沉积物再悬浮组分较高,使得其在三角图的位置偏向于左下角绿色虚线区域.
234Th为238U衰变产生的子体核素,半衰期为24.1d,且具有较强的颗粒活性,会在海洋沉降物悬浮和沉降的过程中从海水吸附到沉降物,造成沉降物中234Th活度相对于238U过剩的现象[22,28-29].7Be是一种宇生放射性核素,半衰期为53.3d,具有较强的颗粒活性,会吸附在空气中的颗粒物上并随着颗粒物的沉降进入到海水且进一步沉降进入海洋沉积物中[30].短半衰期且强颗粒活性的234Th和7Be可以指示短期时间尺度内的再悬浮过程.
本研究根据两种放射性核素的半衰期设计时间梯度进行同一样品多次测量,第一次测量时间为距离样品回收时刻21~55d,第二次测量时间为距离样品回收时刻127~149d,第三次测量时间为距离样品回收时刻210~230d.234Th的活度选择63.3keV的峰面积来计算,并利用式(4)拟合234Th的指数衰变曲线来校正样品回收时刻沉降物中过剩234Th(234Thex0)的活度以及238U的活度,部分拟合曲线如图5所示.7Be的活度选择477.61keV的峰面积来计算,并利用式(5)校正至样品回收时刻的活度(7Be0),234Thex07Be0的拟合校正结果如表1所示.
式中:A−234ThA−7Be代表不同测量时刻获得的234Th、7Be活度,Bq/kg;代表样品回收时刻的过剩234Th和7Be活度;代表由238U持续衰变支持的234Th活度,即等于238U活度;λ1λ2分别为234Th、7Be的衰变常数;t为样品测量的时间,d.
图6(a)中可以发现,拟合校正的结果中,涠洲岛西侧沉降物中的7Be0234Thex0的活度均小于其他站位,且如图6(b)所示,两种颗粒性核素之间具有较强的正相关关系,说明能联合示踪颗粒物的沉降过程.本研究对所有表层沉积物中放射性核素的测量结果中,7Be的活度均低于检测限,234Th与238U活度基本平衡,说明表层沉积物中的7Be和234Thex几乎衰变殆尽.陆源颗粒物的沉降可以吸附清除海水中具有颗粒活性的7Be和234Thex,获得高活度的7Be0234Thex0(东、南、北3侧沉降物中7Be0的活度范围为9.37~ 24.73Bq/kg,234Thex0的活度范围为78.78~ 131.43Bq/ kg).而西侧表层沉积物的再悬浮稀释了陆源颗粒物中的高活度7Be与234Thex,导致沉降物中7Be0234Thex0显著下降(西侧沉降物中7Be0的活度范围为0.76~10.59Bq/kg,234Thex0的活度范围为33.07~ 42.07Bq/kg),同时也增加了总沉降物的通量.因此,涠洲岛西侧沉降物的通量较高以及7Be与234Thex活度较低均是因为表层沉积物的强烈再悬浮.
210Pb是天然放射性同位素,半衰期为22.3a.海洋沉积物中的210Pb来源包括226Ra衰变所支持的210Pb(210Pbsup)和颗粒物、沉降物在进入沉积物之前所吸附的过剩210Pb(210Pbex).在理想的沉积环境中,210Pbex随着沉积物的向下沉积不断衰变,沉积物年龄越老,其中的210Pbex活度越低.因此,210Pbex是研究百年尺度上海洋沉积过程良好的测年工具[31],同时也可应用于计算海洋沉积速率[32-34].
目前,海洋沉积物中210Pbex测年和计算沉积速率中常用恒定补给速率(CRS)、恒定初始浓度(CIC)以及恒定通量恒定沉积速率(CFCS)3种模式.CRS模式的前提是输入的沉积物210Pbex通量是恒定的,但沉积速率随时间改变[35].据通量可获得柱状样每一层的年龄,可用下式表示[23]
式中:I-i为第i层蓄积量,Bq/m2A-ii210Pbex的活度,Bq/kg;ρ为沉积物干密度,1.7g/cm3D为深度,cm;I-xx深度以上210Pbex的总蓄积量,Bq/m2I-为整个沉积柱状样中210Pbex的总蓄积量,Bq/m2λ210Pb的衰变常数,a-1t为每一层的沉积时间,a.由此可计算对应层段的沉积速S(cm/a):
CIC模式假设输入的沉积物中初始210Pbex活度恒定,210Pbex的沉积通量与沉积速率成正比[36],则每层沉积物中210Pbex的活度均为时间的指数函数[31-33]
沉积速率为:
CFCS模式假设210Pbex的沉积通量与沉积物的沉积速率保持恒定,则式(13)中的可由210Pbex活度取对数值(ln(210Pbex))并与深度进行线性拟合(图7(c)、(d))的斜率求出,沉积速率和不确定度可由线性拟合直线的斜率和不确定度求出[32],相关计算公式如下:
式中:k为ln(210Pbex)和深度之间线性拟合直线的斜率;δS为沉积速率的不确定度.
因此,求得WZ16柱样的沉积速率和不确定度:
通过观察发现WZ20沉积过程存在“双层”结构,即柱样0~12cm部分ln(210Pbex)值随深度增加而下降的趋势较平缓,而13~18cm部分ln(210Pbex)值随深度增加而下降的趋势较陡峭(图7(d)),因此将该沉积柱样的沉积速率分“双层”来计算:
WZ16柱样的沉积速率为(0.53±0.08) cm/a,WZ20柱样0~12cm上层部分沉积速率为(0.82±0.37)cm/a,13~18cm下层部分沉积速率为(0.12±0.06) cm/a,该结果与许冬等[37]在北部湾采集的沉积柱样沉积速率范围为0.10~0.59cm/a结果相似,但低于庞国涛等[38]在防城港海域的结果(0.61~ 1.18cm/a).WZ20柱样0~12cm上层部分沉积速率约为2005~2020年间,这期间涠洲岛人类活动剧增,例如2004~2014年,上岛游客由9万人/a增至59.3万人/a,增长率为5.03万人/a[39];涠洲岛以西海域油田群是我国南海最大油田群,2004年得益于勘探开发一体化,多处油田获得“重生”[40],并且在2018年取得产油5000万m3的历史性突破[41],而WZ20柱样位于涠洲油田群和涠洲终端之间,且靠近北海至涠洲西角码头的航线,因此推测在WZ20的12cm处(对应时间为2005年左右)沉积速率显著增高的原因是受到涠洲岛人为活动(客运船和油气运输)的影响.
涠洲岛各调查站位沉降物沉降通量如表2所示,其中西侧沉降物沉降通量显著高于其他站位,为113.12~501.23mg/(cm2·d),除西侧外,其他站位平均沉降通量为20.05mg/(cm2·d).总体而言,涠洲岛沉降物沉降通量存在西侧>东侧>北侧>南侧的规律.
国家海洋科学数据中心的海流数据显示,在2021年10月,涠洲岛周围的海流方向为南偏东51.79°,总体海流速度为0.02m/s;11月的海流方向为南偏东64.76°,在西南海域海流速度为0.02m/s,其余海域海流速度较小,为0.01m/s.即采样期间涠洲岛周围海域海流总体为自西北向东南方向,且西侧海域海流流速较大[42].西侧站位附近的海流在流经采样点后流向陆地,接触到海岸线后迂回,与原方向的海流产生混合,引起该处海域表层沉积物的再悬浮.同时,较快海流产生的波浪也能引起海洋表层沉积物的再悬浮[4].因此,西侧站位沉降物沉降通量较高.猪仔和湾仔站位位于涠洲岛南湾,三面环陆地,仅东南方向有出海口,海流速度慢,因此南侧站位沉降物沉降通量较低.
本研究利用沉降物捕集装置获取了涠洲岛海域在2021年10月24日~11月17日期间近一个月的沉降通量,为了解该海域的沉降与再悬浮情况,本研究根据式(16)将沉降通量转换为日际尺度下的沉降速率,同时利用放射性核素定年和计算沉积速率方法,通过涠洲岛沉积柱中的210Pbex活度计算年际尺度下的实际沉积情况,并将两个时间尺度下的沉降与沉积情况进行对比(WZ20选取0~12cm上层部分的沉积速率),结果如表2图8所示.
式中:S-sink代表沉降速率,cm/d;F代表沉降通量,mg/(cm2·d);ρ为沉降物的干密度,1.7g/cm3.
基于210Pbex法计算的沉积速率反映了涠洲岛百年尺度上,物质通过多次沉降—再悬浮—再沉降的净沉积结果,而利用沉降物捕获装置获得的沉降速率则表示该区域月际尺度内沉降的结果.通过对比邻近站位的沉积柱和沉降物(WZ16和茅寮、WZ20和南油),本研究发现,利用210Pbex法计算的WZ16、WZ20沉积柱沉积速率仅为利用沉降物捕获装置获取的茅寮、南油沉降物沉降速率的0.50%和0.89%,表明西侧99%以上的沉降物会经历再悬浮过程,才能最终埋藏进入沉积柱样,定量反映了涠洲岛近岸海域强烈的再悬浮过程.再悬浮过程定量研究对于有机碳再矿化和埋藏,以及其他物质的降解和埋藏都有重要意义.
造礁石珊瑚幼体补充量是评价珊瑚生长情况的重要指标[43].如图9(a)所示,本研究调查发现涠洲岛西侧(南油、茅寮、滴水)珊瑚礁区的珊瑚幼体补充量(5~8inds/m2)显著大于东侧(公山、牛栏山)珊瑚幼体补充量(2inds/m2),且西侧沉降物的沉降速率(66.5~294.8×10-3cm/d)也显著大于东侧(11.5~19.8×10-3cm/d).
涠洲岛西侧珊瑚礁区在沉降物沉降速率较大的情况下仍有较高的珊瑚幼体补充量(图9(a)),为更深入了解涠洲岛珊瑚的生长发育情况,本研究进一步收集了前人工作中涠洲岛西侧和东侧历年活珊瑚覆盖度情况[343-45](图9(b)),结果表明2015~2019年间涠洲岛西侧的活珊瑚覆盖率呈上升趋势,对应着西侧较高的珊瑚幼体补充量;涠洲岛东侧活珊瑚覆盖率呈下降趋势,对应着东侧较低的珊瑚幼体补充量.
造礁石珊瑚的营养来源包括通过共生虫黄藻进行光合自养和通过触手、粘液等结构捕获食物进行异养营养[8],且珊瑚食性非常广泛,能够捕获包括颗粒有机质、溶解有机质和浮游生物等多种物质进行异养营养[46].再悬浮的生源沉积物除了拥有较高的有机组分含量,可为珊瑚提供异养能量,还可能含有较多自由生活的藻类,可与珊瑚虫形成稳定共生体.同时,再悬浮过程可能会使原本处于沉积物内部的珊瑚幼虫悬浮并沉降到礁石上,增加了珊瑚幼虫附着的几率,从而得到了更好的发育[47].
近年来,涠洲岛珊瑚礁海域水质大部分符合国家第一类海水水质标准,满足珊瑚礁的正常生长要求[48],且随着各项珊瑚礁生态修复方案的实施[49-51]和保护条例的出台[52],涠洲岛平均活珊瑚覆盖度恢复良好(从2015年的6.02%恢复至2018年的7.95%)[3].在此基础上,西侧活珊瑚覆盖度上升趋势最好(从2015年的7.9%至2019年的16.0%)[343-45],可能是该区域水动力较强,引起表层沉积物的再悬浮,促进了珊瑚生长.
因此,涠洲岛西侧珊瑚礁区沉积物的再悬浮不仅稀释了陆源颗粒物对珊瑚造成的伤害,同时给珊瑚提供了异养能量,有效促进了珊瑚的生长.而放射性核素可对海洋物质来源以及表层沉积物再悬浮过程进行示踪,在一定程度上也可作为监测珊瑚礁区污染物来源的工具,为珊瑚礁生态保护提供科学借鉴.
3.1 在放射性核素238U-232Th(228Ra)-40K/10三角图解中,涠洲岛西侧沉降物介于珊瑚礁区表层沉积物和陆源沉降物之间,同时西侧沉降物拥有较低的40K、颗粒性核素234Thex7Be活度,多核素示踪手段均验证了西侧沉降物主要来源于珊瑚礁表层沉积物的再悬浮.
3.2 利用沉降物捕集装置获取的沉降速率范围为5.46~294.84×10-3cm/d,其中西侧沉降物平均沉降速率为204.55cm/d,其他站位平均为11.80cm/d.基于210Pbex的CFCS模式计算的涠洲岛沉积柱(WZ16、WZ20)沉积速率为1.46×10-3和2.25×10-3cm/d,约为相邻站位(茅寮、南油)沉降速率的0.50%和0.89%,表明西侧99%以上的沉降物会经历再悬浮过程,最终才能埋藏进入沉积柱样.
3.3 近年来随着涠洲岛珊瑚礁保护力度的增强,涠洲岛平均珊瑚礁覆盖度已从2015年开始恢复,而西侧的珊瑚礁在高浊度的环境中生长发育情况仍相对较好,可能是生源沉积物再悬浮为珊瑚提供了异养营养等利于生长的条件.
