With the increasing demand for multi-function and multiband operation, more antennas have been employed in different electronic systems, which inevitably results in difficulties in antenna arrangement and severe interference. As a key technique of radio-frequency aperture integration, ultrawideband (UWB) antennas provide an effective solution to this problem. A novel miniaturized UWB H-plane ridged horn antenna with end-fire radiation property is proposed in this paper. In order to broaden the operating bandwidth, an exponential ridge is employed and the cutting-off frequency of the rectangle waveguide is significantly reduced. By extending a hyperbola-shaped dielectric lens from the horn aperture, nearly uniform aperture phase distribution is achieved along the Hplane, which leads to a significant enhancement of the end-fire gain. This antenna has a compact form factor of only 0.57 λL×0.45 λL×0.11 λL and it maintains a wide operating bandwidth ranging from 0.8 GHz to 18 GHz. Moreover, the simulated cross polarization discrimination across the operating bandwidth is better than 30 dB. The antenna structure features a low profile, good stability, and easy fabrication, which can greatly facilitate its integration with metallic structures and missiles. Compared with other reported end-fire antennas, the proposed design shows remarkable superiority in terms of its electrical size and performance.

超宽带天线技术是实现射频孔径综合的关键技术之一,适用于解决大型电子信息系统中采用多个天线带来的布局困难、互相干扰等问题。本文设计了一款具有端射特性的小型化超宽带H面脊喇叭天线。天线通过加载指数型脊结构,降低了矩形波导的截止频率,从而大幅展宽了天线工作带宽。同时,通过在喇叭口加载单曲面形介质透镜,改善了辐射口面上相位不均匀的问题,进而显著提高了天线的端射增益。该天线结构紧凑,其尺寸仅为0.57 λL×0.45 λL×0.11 λL,可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz的超宽频带,且交叉极化优于30 dB。该天线剖面低、结构稳定、易于加工,可直接安装于金属结构上,易于与载体集成。通过与同类型端射天线相比可知,该天线在小型化和电性能两方面都具有优越性。

超宽带天线技术是实现射频孔径综合的关键技术之一,适用于解决大型电子信息系统中采用多个天线带来的布局困难、互相干扰等问题。本文设计了一款具有端射特性的小型化超宽带H面脊喇叭天线。天线通过加载指数型脊结构,降低了矩形波导的截止频率,从而大幅展宽了天线工作带宽。同时,通过在喇叭口加载单曲面形介质透镜,改善了辐射口面上相位不均匀的问题,进而显著提高了天线的端射增益。该天线结构紧凑,其尺寸仅为0.57 λL×0.45 λL×0.11 λL,可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz的超宽频带,且交叉极化优于30 dB。该天线剖面低、结构稳定、易于加工,可直接安装于金属结构上,易于与载体集成。通过与同类型端射天线相比可知,该天线在小型化和电性能两方面都具有优越性。

With the increasing demand for multi-function and multiband operation, more antennas have been employed in different electronic systems, which inevitably results in difficulties in antenna arrangement and severe interference. As a key technique of radio-frequency aperture integration, ultrawideband (UWB) antennas provide an effective solution to this problem. A novel miniaturized UWB H-plane ridged horn antenna with end-fire radiation property is proposed in this paper. In order to broaden the operating bandwidth, an exponential ridge is employed and the cutting-off frequency of the rectangle waveguide is significantly reduced. By extending a hyperbola-shaped dielectric lens from the horn aperture, nearly uniform aperture phase distribution is achieved along the Hplane, which leads to a significant enhancement of the end-fire gain. This antenna has a compact form factor of only 0.57 λL×0.45 λL×0.11 λL and it maintains a wide operating bandwidth ranging from 0.8 GHz to 18 GHz. Moreover, the simulated cross polarization discrimination across the operating bandwidth is better than 30 dB. The antenna structure features a low profile, good stability, and easy fabrication, which can greatly facilitate its integration with metallic structures and missiles. Compared with other reported end-fire antennas, the proposed design shows remarkable superiority in terms of its electrical size and performance.

为了适应信息化战争对武器平台多任务、多功能的需求,航空电子、舰船、导弹等武器装备平台的通信、电子战等设备越来越多,所占的体积、载荷、用电量和成本也日益增加,众多的外立天线在平台上布局十分困难,天线之间的耦合干扰严重。因此,将大量分离天线按照工作频段和功能特点进行整合,在不降低系统性能的条件下尽可能地减少天线数量的射频孔径综合技术是实现大型电子信息系统资源共享和统一调度的关键技术,其中性能优越的超宽带天线是重要的研究方向[1]
超宽带天线具有多个倍频程,可以满足平台中不同任务需求,具有良好的隐蔽性和抗干扰特性,而小型化的体积节省了天线罩内部空间,有利于降低天线之间的互耦,实现更为合理的空间布局。自1989年英国的洛奇研制出第一款具有宽带特性的双锥天线以来,超宽带天线得到国内外学者的广泛研究,种类繁多。其中,对数周期天线、介质棒表面波天线、锥削槽天线、圆锥螺旋天线以及脊喇叭天线是具有端射辐射特性的超宽带天线[2,3]。端射天线在机载、舰载和车载等无线电子系统中需求广泛,多用来侧向、远距离通信、敌方信号接收,确定雷达信号的方向等。在各个平台系统表面,比如机背区域、机翼上下表面、车顶、弹壁等通常具有电大尺寸的金属导体面,天线需要紧贴于该金属面上安装,然而常见的低剖面超宽带端射天线如偶极子对数周期天线、锥削槽天线等由于电磁波的镜像原理无法平行安装于金属载体表面,因此,具有小型化、低剖面、超宽带特性且可置于金属表面的端射天线有很好的应用前景。
对数周期属于非频变天线,是常用的宽带端射天线,但是其尺寸通常较大。为了实现小型化,HU Zhenxin等学者提出采用椭圆形贴片顶加载的单极子为单元的对数周期天线。通过共面带线对单极子交叉馈电,从而实现端射方向的定向辐射。该天线剖面很低,仅为0.05λL,但轴向尺寸较长[4]。CHEN Z等学者提出可采用接地介质渐变结构的表面波天线实现宽频带端射特性[5],该文章所研制的天线实现了6 GHz~20 GHz频带的覆盖,且在工作频带内具有良好的准端射辐射特性。此外,喇叭可视为开口波导,也常用于宽带端射天线,由于传统喇叭口径面渐变张开结构导致其剖面较高,且纵向尺寸较长,体积较大,有学者提出可通过H面喇叭实现低剖面,同时通过加脊的方法展宽喇叭天线带宽[6,7]。本文基于该工作进行改进,研制了性能更为优异且易于加工的小型化超宽带端射天线,可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz频带,且具有增益高、交叉极化低的优点。
本文提出一种小型化超宽带H面脊喇叭天线,其结构如图1所示。天线结构分为五部分:指数型脊(z=eky)结构、H面喇叭结构、同轴馈线、单曲面介质透镜和金属地板。脊波导可以看作矩形波导的宽臂弯折后形成的,相对于传统波导,脊波导主模的截止频率降低、高次模的截止频率增大,单模工作的带宽较宽[8],加脊喇叭天线通常选择平行于电场方向加载脊结构来提高天线的工作带宽。该天线通过同轴线馈电,反射壁采用抛物面形式(x2=4py),馈电点位于反射面焦点上,同轴探针连接到脊,同轴外径连接至波导下层金属。
通过在喇叭口面处加载介质透镜[9,10]、偶极子阵列[11]、超材料[12]等结构,可以改善口径相位差过大的问题,提高阻抗带宽,从而实现良好的宽带端射辐射特性。本方案采用Taconic TLY材料,介电常数为2.2的介质透镜。本文采用单曲面透镜,一边为平面,一边为曲面形式,其透镜曲线为:
其中,ɛr为透镜的介电常数,本设计中,焦距F1=42 mm。本文中所设计的天线置于280 mm×280 mm的导体面上。
为了在超宽带频率范围内实现良好的阻抗匹配,需要天线馈电同轴结构与脊波导连接处的电场尽可能均匀分布,若二者连接处的宽度相差过大则会造成场分布的不连续性,从而引起波的反射,对传输的电磁波产生影响,造成阻抗失配。图2给出了脊的宽度对阻抗匹配的影响,其中馈电探针直径为1 mm,可以看出,随着脊宽度w1与探针直径相差过大,驻波波动明显变大。此外,馈电探针高度h1的减小有利于阻抗匹配的改善,随着h1减小,天线驻波随频率变化曲线趋于平稳,结合实际加工精度受限因素,当h1取0.5 mm时,其驻波波动最小,阻抗匹配最优,性能满足设计指标要求。可以看出,天线中引入的脊结构,拓展了天线工作带宽,降低了天线的特性阻抗,使天线更易于与50 Ω的馈电同轴匹配。
在喇叭天线口径处引入单曲面形介质透镜,容易产生交界面反射,影响阻抗匹配。图3给出了无透镜以及加载不同介电常数的透镜时天线的阻抗特性曲线。可以看出,随着喇叭口处介质块介电常数的增加,天线的驻波曲线向低频偏移,与此同时,低频段驻波的波动变大。在没有透镜引入时,天线的驻波最优,平衡考虑天线阻抗特性和辐射特性,本文选取了介电常数为2.2的单曲面形透镜。
最终,本文设计天线的结构参数见表1。该天线可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz频带范围(VSWR<3),具有22.5∶1的倍频程带宽。图4给出了该天线的驻波随频率变化曲线,其中灰色阴影部分为常用被动雷达侦收频段[13]
图5所示为天线分别在900 MHz、3 GHz、9 GHz、18 GHz时xy平面和yz平面的方向图。可以看到:由于天线具有一定对称性,因此,在xy平面天线的方向图也具有良好的对称性。在yz平面,当f = 900 MHz时,方向图最大辐射方向偏离y轴,最大辐射方向在theta = 50o。当f = 3 GHz,方向图最大辐射指向在theta = 65o。随着频率进一步升高,天线最大辐射方向越来越接近端射方向,这是由于有限大金属地板的边缘衍射[14]效应造成的,即天线在金属表面上的位置不同,端射产生的倾斜角度也不同,当金属导体为无限大时,该天线为标准的端射辐射[15,16]。在实际应用中,可以通过调整天线与地板的夹角、地板尺寸以及天线安装位置等方式来获得需要的辐射角度。
为了更明确端射方向(+y)增益,图6给出了天线仿真的主极化增益和交叉极化增益随频率的变化曲线。可以看出:该天线交叉极化在整个频带范围内均优于30 dB,具有优异的辐射特性。脊波导相比矩形波导具有更宽的工作带宽,但是,随着频率的增加,主模在口面处的相位差越来越大,导致其辐射方向图出现分裂和畸变,从而影响了天线在端射方向的增益。因此,本文通过加载介质透镜改善辐射口面相位不均匀性,提高了主模在喇叭口面的口径利用效率,实现了在整个工作频带内端射增益的稳定。
图7给出了加载透镜和未加载透镜两种情况下的增益随频率变化对比曲线,未加载介质透镜时,天线增益在8 GHz和15 GHz附近会形成两个较深的凹点,端射方向增益分别仅有-3 dBi和7 dBi。这是由于喇叭口面处的相位波动大,造成了方向图畸变和主瓣分裂,在+y轴方向产生了方向图凹口,从而导致端射方向增益显著降低;当加载介质透镜后,天线辐射口径上相位分布变得均匀,大幅提升了天线端射方向增益。在8 GHz和15 GHz处,天线端射增益分别提升至14.8 dBi和16 dBi,实现了17.8 dB和9 dB的改善效果。此外,该天线在整个工作频带范围内端射方向增益稳定,增益波动较小。
为了更好地说明引入单曲面形透镜对天线辐射特性的影响,对天线的口径场分布进行了仿真分析,以二者增益差别较大的频点15 GHz为例进行仿真分析,在频率为15 GHz时,天线的电场分布图如图8所示。由图8可以看出:在15 GHz时,未加载介质的喇叭天线在辐射端口处电场分布出现裂瓣,从而导致天线的辐射方向图在15 GHz时出现分裂。但加载了介质透镜之后,可以看到天线电场辐射集中在端射方向,辐射方向图未出现裂瓣现象,端射方向增益得到较大改善。图9给出了15 GHz仿真的介质透镜加载前后方向图对比,可以看出加载介质透镜提高了主模在喇叭口面的口径利用效率,消除了天线波束的分裂现象,从而提高天线增益。
为了更清楚地阐述本文所提出的天线性能,该天线与近年来已发表文献所提天线的性能比较见表2。这些天线均为小型化宽带端射天线,且可直接在导体平台表面安装或者考虑共形装载于曲面上。由表2可知,文献[4]和文献[5]采用了基于SIW工艺的H面喇叭形式,通过加脊的方式提高了喇叭天线的工作频带。文献[6]采用了小型化的表面波宽带天线,该天线在工作频带内具有良好的准端射方向图,但是该天线采用了介电常数为25的材料,其介质波长相对较短。文献[7]为椭圆形顶加载单极子为单元的对数周期天线,通过共面带线对单极子交叉馈电从而实现端射方向的定向辐射,该天线剖面很低,仅为0.05 λL,但是若继续展宽带宽,顶加载单极子贴片会出现重合,频带宽度有所限制,且其结构较为复杂,不易装配。
本文提出的具有金属结构的H面脊喇叭天线结构简洁,易于加工,尽管文献[4]、文献[6]和文献[7]提出的天线剖面较低,但其纵向尺寸较大,均超过了一个波长,并且与本文提出的可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz的超宽工作频带而言,其带宽较窄。此外,本文提出的天线整体尺寸最小,体积仅为0.028 λL3,具有良好的性能,可以很好地应用于射频孔径综合系统中。
本文研制了一款小型化超宽带的H面脊喇叭端射天线,该天线结构紧凑,尺寸仅为0.57 λL×0.45 λL×0.11 λL,可覆盖0.8 GHz~18 GHz的超宽频带。通过在喇叭口面处加载单曲面介质透镜,提升了该天线在高频段的端射增益。由于天线采用H面脊喇叭形式,除辐射口面外其余部分为金属封闭结构,因此其受到布设在辐射口面后的其他器件如天线、射频电路、金属结构件等影响很小,在宽频带内能保持很好的辐射稳定性,具有宽带鲁棒特性。该天线性能稳定、易于加工、剖面低,可直接安装于金属结构上,且交叉极化优于30 dB,通过与同类型端射天线相比可知,该天线在小型化和电性能两方面都具有优越性。
